  1. what do you mean....it goes in the tranny? It should slide onto the stub shaft that is sticking out of the tranny. yes pics would help!
  2. I wish there was an actual decent yard around here. There are a couple in Freeport and I believe there was a guy on here named junkyardgabe that runs one of them. But there really aren't any old Subarus. There are a couple but nothing that has anything good left on them. If I remember right junkyardgabe had a Brat and another old one but whenever I asked about them he said that they weren't for sale...yet they sat there rusting away...literally
  3. Man that thing is already really clean! How many miles? I'm really jealous now!!
  4. Yeah that is a clean engine bay!! And nice little hatch! Keep us updated on your progress, I would love to do this swap in my Brat. My passenger side looks the same...with all the cv grease splattered all over the place!
  5. After removing the axle nut etc. just hit the axle through the spindle. You should probably use a block of wood and a hammer. But make sure you take the inner joint off the tranny first. That pin I believe is a 7/16 not positive. You don't want to use too small of a pin because it will wedge itself in there. I have used a 16 penny nail before...just be careful to not wedge it.
  6. go to his site... http://www.indysworld.com/decals/
  7. That sounds way high to me. I bought one off of a local shop two years ago for 150, and that was a little steep from what I was used to. There have got to be more out there in a junkyard somewhere
  8. #1 replace driveshaft #2 fill tranny with atf #3 fix shifter cable #4 jump in start car and drive it! Like said previously, the car thinks it's in drive. When the shifter cable broke it wasn't in neutral or park so the car won't start. The drive shaft broke because of a bad u-joint and the fluid poored out because the slip yoke on the drive shaft slipped out enough for the fluid to poor out. These are all very easy things to change by yourself. Have the car taken to your place, get the parts needed and replace broken parts...don't let the garage wongleflute you around!
  9. there probably is no seal that needs replacing, when the drive shaft pulls out of the tranny the fluid comes out, so I'm sure that it pulled out enough to let the fluid pour out. As far as fixing it goes, either buy one from someone on here or do as Monstaru says and go to a junk yard and get a good used one or you can try to just replace the u-joint.
  10. So you should probably buy a driveshaft and refill the tranny and drive it. It should be just fine after that!
  11. I can only register one....sorry, but I guess if it comes down to it then I can chip in a few extra bucks, but I will be pushing my budget just to show up. But I really want to come so I hope it all works out!
  12. Yeah I don't think they are the same because not only are they different body styles I believe the rear suspension is different as well and I think because of that, It will be different. But I would do as wtdash said and check with the dealer
  13. No as long as they are subaru 16" wheels they will fit fine. I have 205 55 16 on my Impreza 2.5RS so I'm sure you could use those or you could get some that are a little taller if you wanted, as my RS is a little lower than the OBS
  14. oh yeah oops I didn't see the S then the stock size would be a 205 60 15 and any wheels from any 15 or 16" subaru should fit properly
  15. I think that I remember the stock size was 205 75 15 for an OB
  16. I have XT6 seats in my Brat. I used the seat rails that were on the seats, I just had to drill new holes and make one bracket for the new seats but it was very easy and yes well worth it!! And mine are also height adjustable!
  17. ok why would they say that it was effecting the ability to align it? The sway bar shouldn't effect the alignment unless it was really messed up...in which I would suspect other things to be bent as well
  18. just a 15 amp fuse...might use a spare from the fuse panel inside the car!
  19. I have a GPS and it said that I would make it in under 8 hours. I was planning on 10...my daughter is only 8 months right now so she will be 1 year in May, so I'm guessing we will be stopping. My wife and daughter are going to ride down with our friends, and I will be leading in my Brat.......what's this redneck stuff? Yeah like Connie said..trash is trash:lol: Yeah I have made the trip to Virginia and N.C. a couple times so I do know about the traffic. We plan on leaving early Friday morning and getting there Friday night staying in a hotel somewhere and then coming to the show on Saturday...As far sending money I guess I just send what ever they want to enter a car and enter it under USMB. Then can my friends just pay admission at the gates? I look forward to meeting everybody and seeing some other cars!!
  20. I think so. Maybe he is referring to the radius rod, maybe yours is bent a little. I dunno how bout some pics then we'll be able to tell you exactly what it is.
  21. Do you have any wires attached to the coil?
  22. Yeah if it doesn't have the same "curves" as your car then it won't fit. Yours is EA81 and it has to come from another EA81. Good luck!!! Think of all the good stuff you're learning!!
  23. Congrats on making it back!! Yes post some pics when you can. Where is the rust? How solid is it? And the PO said it had some goodies on it, what are they? Anyway glad you made it back....the things we go through for subarus!
  24. Awesome I'm jealous!!! I have a harbor freight 110 mig. It works but not nearly as smooth as all the Lincoln welders I've used!
