Made a lift kit
Was a lot of work, had to use some equipment at my work and can't do that all the time. Jackson Rally over on dirtyimpreza.com makes a 1" lift and is supposed to be working on a 2" kit as well.

Made a lift kit
4 foot! I must be nutz:banana: I asked a lot of questions of our Aussie brothers and trigged it out myself and came up with 6mm of offset. Worked but not quite enough, had to put camber bolts in rear. Should have went 7mm. (3.5mm per inch of lift)

weld rear diff
I think that would fail in a spectacular fashion in pretty short order. I've had the same idea as Uberoo and monstaru but I think a pin thru the shaft would create a weak point that would fail eventually. I think it would be a better idea to retrofit a locking hub from a regular 4x4 with a welded diff. Then you could just disconnect the hub for on road use. I know, lots of backyard engineering but so would a disconnect on the shaft.

DirtyWagon goes Wheelin'
That would be perfect with 2" lift. Very freakin' cool:grin::grin:

weld rear diff
Not looking to mod it that much (although I've considered it). Really want to retain as much of the drivetrain as possible, just want to take it as far as I can. Thought about welding the rear diff and fabbing up a wheel locker on one side so a rear wheel could be disconnected on street (still considering that one).
-
Phantom grip LSD
I've got a 4EAT and they don't make a front one for it. Really just want a lsd in rear, just can't make up my mind which way I'm gonna go.

weld rear diff
Who makes a locker for the R-180? I've run across a couple of them in my wanderings, should have picked one up.
-
weld rear diff
He asked about a locker. R-200 is the ONLY way your gonna put a real locker in a Subaru. Nobodies gonna make one for an R-160,too weak and not enough interest to produce one. And as for doing a R-200 in my Forester it would be easy for me except for the $$$$$$$$.

Made a lift kit
More than a thousand miles and A-OK. In future may make 4' strut top spacers and go 2" on everything else. More involved than that I know but I like making mods.
-
weld rear diff
It's easy, retrofit an R200 with an ARB e-locker. Fab up new mounts and shafts. Install and flick the switch. Only around $1500-$2000 (guesstimate).
-
Phantom grip LSD
Ya I just want to run it in the rear as well. Think I'm gonna do this.
-
Phantom grip LSD
Anybody currently using one? Pro's,con's,general feedback from someone who's used this. pinister used it but he hasn't posted for over a year.

Plan B and correct tools for struts?
frogstar7055 replied to 98obster's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXPB blaster is your friend. Never use a "12 point" on hardened bolts, always use a 6 point.

Forester questions
frogstar7055 replied to kdixey's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI own an 01 and an 08 and love them both. I to believe the HG problem is blown way outta proportion but I would definitely do the timing belt(water pump and idler while your in there). That being said the issues you stated make me feel around $4000 or so would be a better price.

Hardrock OHV park
Some pics from Hardrock OHV park in Ocala FL. The Forester made it's bones today, did everything I tried and I climbed almost every hill in the park. I've never felt so confident of it's offroad abilities. Vids. Was to much fun, can't wait to do the 4eat lock mod and go back.

Tire Suggestion - 205/70R15
frogstar7055 replied to howards11's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThose are not the AT-S all-terrain tires. I have a set of the AT-S's 225/70 15 on my 01,great in rain and very good off road.

Made a lift kit
Figure if it looks like it's gonna wear them out prematurely that's what I'll do.

Made a lift kit
Just a side note, My CV's were original's (115000mi). They fronts made noise and vibrated so I replaced them both and now it's smooth as glass. I think the old CV's were worn to the angle they had run at all those years and didn't like the change in angle. Rears seem fine but I'll probably replace those as well before to long.

Made a lift kit
Here you go. 2" of lift with .236 offset. It rides and tracks perfect, get wheel alignment Tuesday. Fronts(not yet painted) Rear I actually washed it for this shot(not something I'm usually inclined to do).
