  1. Nope, its the original. Took it out, scrubbed it with a brush and hot soapy water then power washed the crap out of it. Let it dry then treat it to a few good applications of SEM Interior Dye.
  2. TSJ....did you mean the sub-woofer? If so it is a self-powered unit. I got everything working last evening and the sound totally kicks a$$. It'll take some fine tweeking of the equalizer settings, gain , filters, etc to dial it in just right. The targas are just something you need to take your time with. I understand that they can be tricky because of the complex curve at the top of the A-pillar. I'll post picks after I attempt to tackle them. Maybe a day or two break from the Brat project though. My back is killing me from crawling and twisting around in that interior!
  3. Took me two days to get the stereo hooked up and functioning properly as well as to install the interior. A few nic-naks to do most notably installation of the targa stripes and refinishing the wheels. Other than that I'd say it's 97%. It's been fun. http://www.flickr.com/photos/26905545@N07/sets/72157605926523746/detail/?page=9
  4. Re-assembly begins! Got a pretty good bit of the exterior done today. Need to install the halo decals. I also have to pull the bed seats and install something I missed earlier Tomorrow and Monday the interior and stereo goes in. Should have it done by Monday afternoon. http://www.flickr.com/photos/26905545@N07/sets/72157605926523746/detail/?page=8
  5. Same views, just 2 pics of the final coat laying on it. Tomorrow the reconstruction begins. http://www.flickr.com/photos/26905545@N07/sets/72157605926523746/detail/?page=8
  6. No. It is all taped off. The camper is being painted on the truck because the bed is already Rhino Lined. Easier to leave it on and paint it than have it suck up room in the booth and then worry about covering the bed.
  7. Let me know when you're coming down. Give me a day or 2 notice. Harry's is about 25 minutes for me.
  8. She's painted. Last 2 pics on the page. More tomorrow when the bandages come off. http://www.flickr.com/photos/26905545@N07/sets/72157605926523746/detail/?page=8
  9. Can someone confirm or dis-spell something I heard many years ago? Is it true that standard lamp cord works just as good in car applications for speaker installations? Pros & cons if any?
  10. If it's not too crappy tomorrow (too damp or too humid, or both) it should be in paint. I took my time with everything to date so I guess I can wait for a decent day to finish it. I'm just goofy when it comes to paint in that I like the weather to be pretty nice to have it shot. I really would like to have it going back together this long holiday weekend so I've got a window of 3 days to get it painted. Say a prayer to the rain gods for them to give me at least a half of day of nice weather over the next 3. The way this couple of weeks has been weather-wise its a roll of the dice. :-\ We just had about an hour long thunderstorm that seemed like the end of the freakin' world. It honestly looked like a tornado sky for a short time.
  11. I believe they only were available on the 1982 Brats and possibly some other years/models of wagons.
  12. Progress pics added, pages 7 & 8. http://www.flickr.com/photos/26905545@N07/sets/72157605926523746/detail/?page=7
  13. Those slim subs look interesting. I was going to go with a 6 or 8 inch Bazooka Tube but I may look at these. Thanks for the tip. I'm thinking the 6" would be plenty in the cab of a Brat, right? Both are similar in size so should I go 6 or 8 inch on the slim subwoofer? I'm definately running an amp located under the passenger seat so one of the slim subs would work under the drivers seat. Since I'm running an amp thats why I was leaning 16 ga. wire.
  14. Upgrading the audio in the Brat project. Pioneer DEH-P6000UB stereo with Sirius Kenwood KFC-1687 6" rounds in the doors Pioneer TS-TRX5 boxes behind the seats Not certain yet but MAYBE a smaller (10") cheap subwoofer Pioneer GM-4300 amp pushing them Question: What size (gauge) speaker wire? I'm thinking 16 ga. Also, if I go with a subwoofer is it absolutely necessary to put it in a box enclosure or can I hide it up under the dash without a box?
  15.          I'd rather find a mouse. Especially if I was driving at the time.
  16. myhilo, I got the wheel wells right from Subaru thru the parts counter. When I got them there were still a few available. Yep, the seat belts are in there. They are part of the bolt-in seat frame that I have. I'll get some pics and post 'em.
  17. Finally getting around to finishing this project. It's just been miserable weather here in the Northeast and everyone seems to be lacking enthusiasm including me. It's at the body shop and should be in the new paint this coming week. Going with solid white in a single stage enamel. Pooparu is working on some camo halo decals for me as well. Here's the link to the progress photos. I'll post 'em as i take 'em. I figure I should have everything back on the Brat (inside & out) by the 4th of July. http://www.flickr.com/photos/26905545@N07/sets/72157605926523746/detail/?page=7
  18. Is Peerless a budget grade of one of the bigger companies (Bridgestone, etc) or is it its own company? I'm trying to find a site that has the specs for these tires, in particular the O.D. on a set of 205/75-15's. Anyone?
  19. I stuck removing two exterior trim items from my '85 Brat for paint prep. If someone could tell me how the following 2 pieces are removed I'd appreciate it: 1) The dummy side step on the lower portion of the rear fender. The actual step was simply 4 phillips but how about the other side (non-step)? Do I need to access something from the removable access panels in the bed? 2) The false louver pillar trim pieces directly behind the doors. Naturally the 2 phillips screws, but then it seems as if there's something in the center of the lover on the back side thats holding it in place. I looked behind the interior trim panel but nothing. Is it simply snapped into a clip? Do I pull straight out, or does it need to go back or forward. Don't want to break these 'cause I'm sure they're hard to find. Thanks.
  20. Made a final decision and the truck goes today. Decided on going with a single stage DuPont ChromePremier Urethane. http://www.blueridgepaint.com/pdfs/Automotive/singlesatge/H-19311_CPUreSS.pdf No clear, just color coats. Going with a very bright solid white, no metallic. I'll post pics when she's done. Also going with a set of halo decals from Pooparu. Doing them in urban gray camo material.
  21. Sending the '85 Brat that I resurrected out for paint http://http://www.flickr.com/photos/26905545@N07/sets/72157605926523746/detail/ What should I have them put on? Acrylic enamel? Deltron/Imron (Polyurethane Enamel)? Acrylic Urethane? I'm having it done bright white. No metallic. Should I have them clear coat or just go with color coats? Vehicle is going to see its fair share of road driving (me) and I'm sure bush parties (my kid) so I'd be looking for something pretty durable. Suggestions? Right now I'm leaning toward Imron (Poly Enamel).
  22. YOW! Look at the length of that timing chain! These things have to be noisy as hell.
