  2. <<I've got an ea82 with bad rings in one cylinder. It was a used japanese import engine, and I put 20,000 miles on it, none of which I would consider abuse, always keeping the oil up and never overheating it. >> so you know the complete history on the engine, and the previouse owner did't overheat it and changed the oil on regular intervalls? from what i know about imported jap engines are Japan has some law/rule that you don't own a car with more that x amout of miles on it. so if thats the case, what would be the incentive for a person in Japan to really take care of the engine, being that he has only x amout of miles to drive it? maybe i'm wrong but with regular maintaince rings should last forever (almost) in a suby engine. now i'm stating in general, theres always that occasional exception. thanks
  3. we just rebuilt a EA82T engine and its sitting on my bench looking for a home. i'm just waiting for parts to come in for a ER27 rebuild for my XT-6.
  4. what engine do you want to re-build? why does it need piston rings? did you run it without oil or overheat it? i've never seen a suby engine with bad rings before with just regular wear and tear.
  5. I'm going to be rebuilding the engine in my XT-6 and don't want to buy a OEM replacement. Has anyone ever used any aftermarket brands? Thanks in advance for the replies.
  6. I just picked up a 88 XT-6 (5speed, diff lock). when i start the car, it runs between 1800-2000 rpm for at least 5 min. then it slows down to 1200- or so. that seems a little high? is there a idle screw on this engine? thanks for the help in advance.
  7. its in the trunk hanging next to the rear speakers.

  9. i posted pics of the differences last month. do a search and you'll find info.
  10. I can't be done. Think of it this way. Subaru pays this 3rd party guy to do this job under warranty. You get a 12,000 mile one year Subaruwarranty on this new job from the 3rd party guy because he used Subaru parts. The headgasket goes bad again and Subaru pays this guy to do the job again (or does he really do it again?) see how this is could turn into a scam, thats why Subaru doesn't do it.
  11. I am not Emily either but, the USDM 2.2 turbo engine found in the 91-94 Legacy turbo has a rating of 181 pound-feet of torque and 160 horsepower. please feel free and post any material that tell different.

  15. <<the Spyder Intake was pretty complicated, so the standar intake is installed for now, the spyder conversion to come sometime later.>> can you give us some info on the problems you came up with when you tried to do the intake? thanks

  17. <<Dennis, Aren't you supposed to be at work right now???? ha ha Must be nice. Let me know if you wanna go grab it, I will call and see how much he wants, either that or we can pull it and I can set it aside for a dark and stormy night..........>> Dennis doesn't need one, he has one already. I'm the one that needs one for my project.....maybe we can work something out.
  18. does the I/C fit under the hood ok or do you need to modify the hood any more, other than fitting a scoupe of course? to me it looks like it fits perfectly under the hood. nice job.
  19. thanks for the info. i was just trying to squeeze some more hp from my engine.
  20. while tearing down my EA-82T and EA-82N/A engines, I was wondering if there was a difference (in HP) between the two engine's camshafts. I checked my parts book and there is a difference in part numbers. I am in the process of building a EA-82T from a N/A shortblock and turbo heads and trying to put on a spider intake manifold. I was wondering if the 2 different cams will give me any extra HP? thanks in advance.
