Just convert to a manual while you have the engine out, then you won't have to worry about a torque converter.

I Found my Holy Grail Parts car today!!
TROGDOR! replied to Meeky Moose's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Corky- there's an 87 RX sedan at my local yard with that panel on it. I could grab it. Everyone else- don't bother asking for parts off it, everything else on it that's special to an RX is already gone, thanks to me and Skip. -

That shifter was in all 85 D/R EA82's. I wonder what Dennis did with the seats that were in the RX? The headrests were good... Or, you could just take some dark gray Loyale headrests and dye them black. -
Running with mismatched final drives would do absolutely nothing when in 2WD, it'd feel exactly the same as if they were right. In 4WD on the other hand... going from a stop it would just lock up, engaging it on the fly could possibly rip the tranny apart.

Hehe, funny. Only posted a few of those today, most are from the past few months. Besides, snotrocket is right on my heels with post count. Where is Miles Fox anyway? He puts my post-whoring to shame. I'm outta here, see you guys on the Fox board. Also- the link wasn't exactly killed. Click it and then delete the %20 in it, then it should work. I'm sure the link will eventually be removed, but links to subarubrat.com or xt6.net wouldn't get killed. Funny how things work out. See ya. http://pub98.ezbïard.com/bfoxheadnetwork

I remember a few more details. It was not at a dealership; it was being sold by an individual in Kentucky. Also, it was not a wagon! It was a coupe. They basically just removed the hatch, welded in a piece of sheetmetal and window behind the front seats, and stripped out the cargo area and lined it with metal to make a truck bed. They also cut out and hinged the area between the taillights to make a tailgate. The project was a bit more sophisticated than what I described there, and looked VERY clean. Also, they didn't have many structural integrity problems because the only big part removed was the hatch- and they also welded in extra metal behind the seats.

I think it's about the same blasphemy as putting Peugeot wheels on a Soob. Was it meant to be? No. Will I do it? Well... I've already done the Pugs, and now I rub tire when carrying heavy loads... so there's the answer.

The front springs from an 86-89 Honda Accord are the ones. They will end up raising the back a couple inches though, which is not what you said you wanted. However, they most likely would take care of your sagging problem as they are designed to support a heavy engine and trans.

How nice that everything on the site works EXCEPT for their dyno charts.

RX won't start, need help..
TROGDOR! replied to Meeky Moose's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Stupid question- Did you happen to plug the third wire into the starter? Not exactly sure what it does- theres the power, ground, and this third one attached to a small lug that slides in on the solenoid. Without it plugged in the car will act exactly as you describe. I had one once where the connector was bent and it looked connected but wasn't making contact. -
85/86 and later model gauge compatibility

I know SOMEONE has done this. -
messed up tranny oil change

Did you even drain the fluid? There is a plug on the bottom front of the transmission pan; drain it until it's empty, then put the PROPER amount of fluid in, and try it again. If I remember right the max capacity is about a gallon. Start with 2 quarts and work your way up. Be sure to check the fluid with the engine running. -

Need some speed@rpm numbers
TROGDOR! replied to TROGDOR!'s topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sorry, no GPS. Really wish I had it, but nope, not at the moment. -
Is there any difference between starting on a cold engine vs. a warm engine?

Need some speed@rpm numbers
TROGDOR! replied to TROGDOR!'s topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Must live in one of those low speed zones, eh? Here the speed limit is 70; traffic flows at 75, and the fast lane does 80. -
what you get when you crash an rx and gl-10

Oh, by the way, the wagon looks badass! Gotta paint that thing and install some aftermarket wheels. -
As you may have noticed from my trans swap thread, I'm without a speedometer cable for now. I can't replace it till this weekend, so I need to go to work all week with no speedo. Can someone tell me some things? Here's what I need... RPM at 75MPH in 5th gear RPM at 60MPH in 4th and 5th gear RPM at 40MPH in 3rd gear All this is in an N/A EA82 5 speed D/R on STOCK WHEELS AND TIRES. Thanks a bunch.

Quick question- are 85/86 gauge clusters compatible with later models? I'm wanting to do the early model gauge cluster with red bulbs mod on my 92, since my speedometer head is messed up and I have to pull it to install my speedo cable anyway. Just wanting to know if it's plug and play; if any rewiring is required I'll just use a Loyale cluster.
