  1. Almost all have some kind of emmissions, all '81 and newer cars have at least some kind of air injejction system usually A.I.S. with reed valves. I think I heard once that all '81 cars had Cali emmissions (feedback carb W/Duty Solenoids) but that might not be right. I do know that my '81 4X4 Hatch has Cali emmissions and feedback carb and it was sold new in here in Vancouver, Washington. My '83 4X4 wagon has only an EGR and A.I.S. My '83 2WD Hatch was the same. I'd ask Richierich and his Dad.. They'll know
  2. I live out toward Camas, near the English pit shooting range. (192nd Ave and 11th street). Near the Soccer fields at the end of 18th street. I'll be up by 2:00 Sunday if you want to come over. Bring the flywheel and we'll pop it out. My number is 253-4385.
  3. Fred meyers has E-Z Outs Brad, so do parts stores. In fact just drop by my place you can borrow mine.
  4. I say, Find the source of the water. Then fix it, fire it up and drive it like you stole it:D The motor is probably O.K. It might have done some bearing damage, but you never know till you try.
  5. O.K., Now you owe it to the world to pull the motor and let some industrious brother copy that adapter plate... Cuz that's the Kicker.... acording to the builder it was a one-off job.
  6. Hmmm, I have never been able to run any of my subarus on 87 octane without them pinging. I usually run 89 but will tank up on 92 for long freeway runs or hot days. That's been my experience......
  7. '83 hatch, no '81 hatch, no '83 wagon... not yet. I'll convert when I re-seal the motor
  8. A little foam on the oil fill cap isn't a big deal. Pull the dipstick and check the oil for milkshake. You might have just blown a hose.
  9. When an engine is cold, the walls of the intake are below the "dew point" of gasoline. Meaning that, vapoized fuel will condense on the walls of the intake rather than travel into the combustion chamber, causing the car to run lean. The pupose of the choke is to restrict air into the intake so that the mixture will be richened until the intake warms up. Which usually takes 3-5 minutes.
  10. Hi guys, I finally got around to fixing the lights on the new hatch today. The first time I hit the passing light the door popped open and the light came on. But now the door won't shut. The light workks fine. Any ideas?
  11. Hood River is sweet. There's a lot of fun stuff to do, Train ride, antiques, wind surfing, quick hop to mount hood. Bring the wives and kids.
  12. I was looking for someonf who might deliver some parts to a board member for me. Can anyone help? Thanks,
  13. Jeremy beat me to it, Your lucky you didn't get a massive ticket for driving in surf. Especially at Long Beach, the do care about the clams.
  14. My daughters '83 2wd auto has hydraulic lifters too.
  15. Yeah that's what I did after I posted. It didn't make sense that the would be different so, I just got midieval on them.
  16. I was throwing a spare motor in the new hatch but it wouldn't sit down on the cross member. I crawled under for a look and the studs on the bottom of the mounts are both too far to the outside. The motor is an '83 EA81, going into an '81 EA81 Hatch. Not much I can do now but jack the motor up and swap mounts too.....
  17. Hey, You guys saved me from having to search for the old post! Cool! The disty on the new hatch is TOAST.
  18. Cool another Rochester guy! I'm not sure which Rochester he'd be talking about, especially on a 2.3l Moustang motor. I'm going to install a Holley/Weber on my '83 here pretty quick. The other fun option is the bigger holley two barrel that ford used. The 350cfm units are pretty easy to come by, but they also make a 500cfm.
  19. I bought one for my '85 from the dealer, I don't remember what they cost but they were pretty cheap.
  20. Hmmm rear spoiler, turbo car rock guards...... I wonder what the VIN is
  21. I can probably make it for lunch. And my wife likes Mike's.
