  1. Congrats on getting it home They are a bit more powerful... Just wait til you want MOAR power
  2. Ahhh I still love your Legacy! Gonna hopefully get something similar next year for my Dad so he can have as much fun as you do Keep up with pics and videos!!
  3. So, Jeszek, sorry to steer away for a second (not 100% steering away) But I have a green dash in my 1986 GL Sedan... I thought you had said early EA82s meaning what I thought was 1985-86 and then someone said 1987+ got the green dashes... Does this mean mine was swapped out and Ill have to remove the green tint first? Edit: Answered my own question, Ill probably just get an 85/86 dash if the tint is going to be a pain lol.
  4. You can use a rubber mallet and itll pop off. If youre not reusing the rotor, just smack it off. I had to use a puller on my Mitsubishi awhile back.... man it took 30 mins to pull it off even with the slide hammer and puller... The guys at the parts store said they'd never seen rotors so worn down.
  5. There is the one in the offroad section I think? But yea thatd be awesome. Probably pretty hairy stuff there Fairtax! I have done some stupid stuff offroad, glad Ned takes the abuse cuz I need to be more careful.
  6. Thanks Jeszek! I read the tally wrong, I only counted 12, but saw the extras. Thats a pretty cheap mod which is good, plus I need to replace my low fuel light anyway, stupid thing doesnt work Still deciding upon different colors, I love the white look but I do want red and then maybe the white for the fuel light, those would stand out from eachother.
  7. So whats your final bulb tally to replace all the bulbs? I might as well replace all mine... 86 GL so I dont think I have the green tint...?
  8. Thanks! I wonder, I dont see a red or a blue alternative... Would the like stained glass paint work? or do you think itd make the bulbs dim and not be any better than what Ive got now?
  9. Stuart! I wanna hear the exhaust! I had a 6000K HID. It was great but my ballast went out so now I'm back to stock headlights til I get my projector kit
  10. I know Im not the first to do it, but Im excited for it Loyale steering wheel in Ned (1986 Subaru GL sedan) Next stuff to do: Now that the horn should work (need one more part from Junkyard) HELLA SUPERTONES! Nissan Alternator 205/60/13 tires on my Jackmans New brake rotors and pads HID Projectors Headgasket Then Ned will be good until I figure out bigger, better plans
  11. Curious about the wattage of the kit as well, I assume the 50W would be better as my 55W HIDs were nicer than my 35W HIDs... but now one has burned out and I dont want to buy more... gonna get it done right now Debating about picking up some more headlights or just using mine and hoping I dont crack it I found 9004 HID projectors... so they should be plug and play and then the careful sanding/polishing... correct? Any benefit/disadvantage of sanding the entire lens? Obviously time consuming, but would it make it better?
  12. Ill pass on the info to my Dad. Got a discount code by chance? The text I got from him: Pulls like a demon through 2nd gear, got it up to 65... next year, engine upgrade! I told him car upgrade, frankenmotor in FWD just seems like a bad idea... but it made me smile. BTW, hes not use to the EJ22 power, hes only owned EA82s and an EA71 before.
  13. Its still smoking from the cat/y-pipe pretty bad.. 2 ideas: Clogged cat? or Oil leak ( but everything was resealed :/ ) I finally plugged in the O2 sensor, which hasnt been plugged in since we owned the car... so im not sure... O2 sensors are expensive if I have to go OEM like I think...
  14. I really couldnt thank you guys enough, and really thanking GeneralDisorder, if only you guys knew how bad I bothered that poor guy!
  15. Heres the quieter motor sounds... No weird noises now, and the ticking stop... Subaru gods are happy??
  16. Oh, showed none on the dipstick, I added 4 in the beginning about a week ago... so I knew it had some, 1 quart of oil brought it above full on the dipstick, so it has oil now, and the ticking should go away but Im worried about running it with the new sound. Almost sounds like something is bouncing around in the oil pan but I cant figure out what would be...
  17. So there was no oil in it, even after I put 4QTs in... kinda confusing, but it was run a few times like that... Working on making another video of the noise its making, the lifters are still ticking, but this sound is different... and I cant pinpoint it.. It smoked real good for a bit though... Thinking if a rod is about to go... or a bearing or whatever this is, its the Subaru god saying to frankenmotor it :/
  18. ALL fuses inside and outside are good :/ but still no hazard lights or radio... They worked before though, so something has to be different, but it all looks correct :/
  19. Well guys. Had some issues in these 2 threads: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=135673 and http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=135892 Mellow65, you had it correct! Thanks a ton! There you guys go! Pretty bad lifter tick, and I need to get some hose clamps and coolant in it so I can run it longer and hope the tick goes away. Im assuming its burning off oil somewhere cuz there was a small amount of smoke/steam coming from the heater core ports on the motor as well as around the valve covers (as you can see me checking out in the video) Big thanks to USMB, GeneralDisorder - for answering my phone calls and pestering questions, and my friends that came out and helped... Im satisfied that the car is going to be okay
  20. Unless you plan to REALLY destroy your belts, run coverless. I did my drivers timing belt when it broke in about 30 minutes explaining the process to my sister who kept asking questions. The engine is non-interference and the belts are relatively cheap... so if you snap one with the covers off, its no big deal, but its unlikely youll snap one. Im even running coverless on my dads 1990 Legacy (first gen EJ22 so non-interference as well) Also with the covers off you can keep an eye on things, pinpoint any leaks and if your car starts running weird, you can check the timing first. --- Dont know if it was mentioned, but in some of the car manuals it says to put both cam pulleys up... its actually put the first cam pulley at TDC (top dead center) put the belt on, rotate the engine a full 180* and then put the other cam pulley at TDC and you should have perfect timing. Worked on my 86 GL easily and I had to laugh when my neighbor said without a timing gun my car wouldnt start, fired right up
  21. So this is the starter that came out of my 1990 Legacy: Notice the gear is completely exposed. Here is the starter that I got from a 1992 Legacy in the junkyard: Notice the gear is covered by metal... I guess I can put it in and see if it'll work. But seems itd be different... Anyone dealt with a FWD vs AWD Legacy? Maybe the flywheel is different and therefore the gear is different?
  22. Grabbed one off a first gen (today was half off day at PNP) Theres a guard type thing OVER the gear that mine didnt have, Im 99 percent sure it wont fit, but I got a receipt and I dropped the starter out right as he said "We close in 5 mins please exit" type thing... so when I saw it was different I said oh well.... Ill return it later... but still, this is confusing, why the change?
  23. What is the difference between a PRE March 1990 Starter and a POST March 1990 starter? I have starter part number 17170 which appears to be universal clear up until a 2004 Baja including Legacy, Loyale, etc... BUT Ive heard the car Ive got is a very early 1990 Legacy because the bumpers are black as opposed to body color...? So if it is universal, the starter from a 1996 Outback should fit it right
  24. It turns, its just incredibly tough to turn... I thought about taking it apart and seeing if I could grease up the parts that looked rusty, but I have a feeling this is not a good plan, at least not one that would imply quality.
