Nice wheels! Where'd you find them? Are they still 4x140mm stud pattern?

FS: 88 EA82 wagon NEW ZEALAND
Yeah she's a bit of a beast - it's a New Zealand new model so they're a bit quirky, only one reverse light, high roof, other bits and bobs. Will be sad to see it go - it's probably one of those things I'll regret doing in a few years but needs to be done. Cheers for looking! Sorry mate, I've just acquired a new turbo Forester so have no more room, plus I'm not much of a Honda fan. Been a bit of interest on Trademe but let me know if you can get close to the number I've put on it - I'd be stoked to sell it to another Subaru fan!

FS: 88 EA82 wagon NEW ZEALAND
Hi all, I know there's a few guys in NZ on these forums so thought I'd post up my Leone/Omega I have for sale. Car is located in Christchurch in the South Island. Just acquired a 2000 turbo Forester so need to make space - sad to see the old girl go but what can you do! http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=901907915 Mods, if this is the wrong place let me know and I'll move it. Cheers!

Ruby the lions new heart
Nice - the wiring is the biggest hurdle I think I'll encounter so that takes a load off. I find the read ups really confusing - do you know what parts on the body side of the harness you needed to keep? Relays, etc? I think I'm going to go for the old EJ20D DOHC motor out of the first gen Legacy VZ or maybe one out of a second gen TSR. Not too sure yet, depends what is readily available. I'm considering going with a Forester dual range box (I actually own a Foz with one already) however the loss of a locked center diff puts me off a bit and I'm not sure if I'm mechanically inclined enough to muck around with gearbox internals. Can you explain with a bit more detail on what you did with your box? Also how'd you go with getting it certified? Any issues?

Ruby the lions new heart
This is cool man - I've never seen another documented thread on a New Zealand build (or RHD build either). Was there anything you ran into that seemed to differ from the instructions in the EA to EJ writeup? Looking to get stuck into a swap myself at some stage later on this year. I'm in an 88' Leone wagon so might be slightly different from you.

Bugger, hope he's OK. Oh well, if you hear anything can you post back here? Cheers.

Damn that's a shame. What happened to him? Is he alright?

I'd appreciate this too if possible. Cheers

Planning my swap ahead of time (7-8 months HOPEFULLY)
DOHC EJ motors will not fit inside EA81 frame rails without serious modifications to said rails. You'd be better off using an EJ22T or a high compression hybrid EJ25 (EJ20 block w/ EJ22 heads) - search "EJ Frankenmotor" for info. This is an absolutely massive undertaking in which you would need to upgrade the suspension and brakes to deal with the power of a turbo EJ25, most of which require major work and modifications. Not trying to put you off, but I'd start with an EJ22 swap first - you might find you'd be happy enough with the power as it is.

Welp, I finally did it. Broken intake manifold bolt.
After reading all the threads throughout the years, I never broke one of these bolts...until today. One bolt was stuck, used a heap of penetrant and heat to try and get it out, buuuuuut... It's the one on the left. Got the other five out, however now I can't slip the manifold over the broken bolt. What are my options?

Anyone used Eristic Gaskets from Ebay? Any info?
Wow, awesome pictures! Thanks for that - great info and advice! I could, however buying them over here in NZ can be very pricey compared to US products, even with shipping. I'm looking at taking the engine out and doing a complete reseal (not splitting the block) so I figure if I get one of those sets it'll have most things at a decent quality, Things like intake & exhaust manifold gaskets and head gaskets, I will most definitely buy OEM or OEM quality.

What Have You Done to your Soobie lately? (Please post in here and keep it going)
Definitely. Learnt quite a bit about how the heating system works though, so even though it took a few hours it wasn't wasted time.

Ha the cold doesn't bother me - the heater box filling up with coolant sure did! Wasn't actually too hard, just very time consuming. At least I know exactly what I'm doing when I take the dash off for my eventual EJ swap!

Finally managed to replaced my heater core and get it back into the car...woohoo for nice warm heat! What a job though. Few photos:

Anyone used Eristic Gaskets from Ebay? Any info?
Hi all, Looking at buying a full gasket set for my 88' carbed EA82 wagon made by Eristic Gaskets on Ebay ( link here) as it's about $120 NZD incl. shipping to New Zealand, versus buying a full headset here for $240 NZD. Obviously I'll be using Subaru OEM intake and exhaust manifold gaskets when freshening up the motor, but my question is what quality the rest of the kit is. Anyone used them before? Also is it necessary to use OEM head gaskets or are aftermarket ones generally OK?

Motorweek BRAT review.
Awesome! What a great looking Brat.

l series wagon differences
Essentially the same thing, although US cars are left hand drive while ours are right hand drive. I've just noticed a few differences, in the heater core to start. But for the most part they are very similar vehicles. Also you probably don't need to put your full address on your info - just NSW would work. Never know who's looking...

Long shot but...where to buy EA82 heater core in New Zealand/Aus?
Cheers, PM'd That's a good point - it's a bit colder down here so they may fail due to a tougher life.
