What will happen if I change from 185/70/14 wheels and tires to 205/70/15?
987687 replied to Kidcobalt's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX14 to 16 rims doesn't mean anything...it's the overall diameter of the tire. 185/70/14 and 205/55/16, or even 225/50/16 are the same outside diameter.

987687 replied to Kidcobalt's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNothing wrong with switching to 15" wheels, just those tires are too tall. I tried putting outback wheels/tires on my 96 legacy and they didn't really fit well. Rubbed bad on turning, etc. They work for the outback because that's lifted from the factory.

drive shaft bolts
987687 replied to 1-3-2-4's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAre you asking about the bolts or the heads?? 12mm heads. The bolts are 8mm or something.

Confused ~ A reoccuring comment
987687 replied to plaidfro's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMy car was victim to that from the previous owner. Locked it up two times, and the thing still started right up no problem! Amazing, no knocks or anything.

what do you get for gas mileage?
987687 replied to mellow65's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX98LGT. 232k miles. Auto tranny, getting tired. EJ22 swap with a slightly tired engine. I get in the mid to high 20's. I assume I'll get a lot better once I get a good 5speed in there and rebuild a nice motor for it.

The FB engines.
987687 replied to Durania's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYou can probably get to it from the bottom. Or maybe just have to remove the radiator fan on that side for clearance. A lot better than having to remove all the timing belt stuff.

OKAY WTF! Answer me this.
The vac lines are all necessary. Do not start ripping out lines you think you don't need. If you want less stuff under the hood I'll trade you for my legacy Turbo systems are complex, and with that comes lots of hoses, valves, and wires.

What the heck is this thing?
987687 replied to John P's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMy car used to make a high pitched squealing / whistling noise when I get up to about 40... Finally found out it was the window seal just above the top of the mirror. I shoved a pit of paper in the crack between the car an the seal and it's gone.... Nothing like fixing your problem on the road. hah.

My '92 Loyale: Safariwagon
No dents? oh my... Most of the cars on here would fail. haha. In Maine you're not supposed to have any rust holes, rusted hoses, etc. And of course a lot of really stupid stuff to fail for that doesn't really hurt anything. Being able to put a sticker on my own car is nice. No dealing with that crap.

Glad to see that engine is treating you well, I'm going to be building the same thing with some delta cams!

One of those telescopic magnet things FTW!! With an alloy engine makes it really easy to grab dropped bolts under the mani.

What happened? *Coolant Blowout*
On the ea82 rad there's a threaded hole about half way down on the passenger's side end tank. It's for the temp sensor for the rad fan. If you don't have that censor, it would just have a plug in it.

Misfire cly 3 & 4
987687 replied to 1-3-2-4's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXRegardless if plugs come pre-gapped or not. ALWAYS CHECK PLUG GAP. How much extra time to check? a minute maybe to find your feeler gauge? They can get banged around in shipment, not gapped right from the factory, etc. I've seen way too many pre-gapped plugs with the wrong gap. I've even seen my share of defective plugs right out of the box! quality control isn't always the best.

Yea, some things are harder, and some are easier with the ej25... knock is a little harder, but there's more access when getting to torque converter bolts. I washed, cay barred, waxed, and installed HIDs into my projectors yesterday.

987687 replied to 1-3-2-4's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXInspect the old plugs well. i've seen the porcelain crack causing issues before. I always number plugs to keep track of which cyls they came out of. Helps with diagnosis of problems if it turns out to be more than just plugs.

Did some wheeling yesterday
Looks nice out there!! That's why I carry a full size spare... It's a little bald, but better than a flat!

97 Legacy Outback 2.5 AT - off idle hesitation
987687 replied to jasonh's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXFirst thing I thought was using the parking brake to keep the car stopped before getting on it. With the car stopped in park, if you pump the brakes does it almost stall? Could be a leaky brake booster.

Shredded seat belt = Warranted!
987687 replied to revox's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAs I said my local dealer sucks, the two times I had mine done I did it at a dealer over an hour away. They're great, I just emailed detailed pictures of the damage and they approved me for repair.

987687 replied to revox's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMine doesn't retract very well, and I'm not sure if that's covered. I called my local dealer, but they're dicks.... I'll have to take it to the good dealer about an hour and a half away.
