i bought a 86 motor from "ruparts"... it has 80k on it. what are the chances it will tick if I did not do the cam tower O rings?

No prob, I was just lettin you know. In about 3-6 months in the sun, that "clear" film will turn VERY cloudy and sometimes white.

dude, you can pull the clear off. your supposed to, its just transfer film from paper to window. pull it slowly at a 45* angle. Also, I yanked Leaky McGreasymotor out of the car, tonight I am swapping intake and accessories over. Just a couple more evenings and she will be alive again

there's no need to use gasket maker if you have a gasket. if you want it stuck, use a little copper sprayagasket on both sides of the gasket and mating surfaces. I have reused headgaskets with that stuff (dirt track racing) I wouldn't advise it on hg's for daily driving though waterpumps, and intake gaskets, exhaust gaskets, etc. I will recommend it all day long. Its like spray glue that fills imperfections and pits.... love that stuff

i gained a little umph from a spectre filter, I modified a firewall flange mount http://www.amazon.com/Spectre-8148-Intake-Mounting-Plate/dp/B000BPUTL4/ref=pd_sbs_auto_8 bolted that to the maf. also the throttle body sounds rockin:lol: then I put an exhaust on it, magnaflow sounds ok, I like my topspeed. get the maxima alt upgrade. you WILL need it. the stock 55amp alternator suffered on my car just from driving lights. It lasted a year...

Everybody here told you that running a crap load of boost would end that way the detonation was caused by running 26psi on stock fuel system :lol: next time leave it stock, it will run a whole lot longer Honestly if you want an engine to tear up, do what suberdave did and put an EJ20G into your car. you'll be much happier

old 2bbl motorcrafts work well on ea81's seen it myself, the guy made the adapter plate from 1/2" aluminum with a drill and a rat tail file. Worked DAMN good that thing will suck, both figuratively (and literally "gas")

I would start with pulling the intake pipe off the turbo and see if she'll spin before Id do anything else. Also, feel out the shaft play too, sometimes the play will be so bad, that it bounces around the inside of the housing.

we cleaned the tps connections, and she seems to run/boost better. anybody know how to pull codes from an 87 gl turbo? My 88 spfi has a green plug on the fire wall... can't find one on his
