  1. picked up a replacement axle for the rear of my RX today I'll be installing it tomorrow.
  2. I will do that when I install the car I got the axle from didn't have a bar so taking the whole arm off was easy. I felt bad taking parts from that loyale since it was so clean but the 4eat probably died.
  3. woohoo the pullapart just got in a loyale 4wd yesterday and I yanked the left rear axle this afternoon. tomorrow I will install it... Question is there an easier way to get an old axle off? I had to take the whole control arm off to get it off the diff.
  4. its my left rear that is going and I have an RX AWD so I would have to lock the center diff to have FWD right? the real problem here is the car chose to break two days before an autocross GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR:banghead: the movment is not the normal sliding it is a short clunky movement but on top of that I can twist the shaft slightly so it may be done for I'll order the part and repack this one to make the race. I'll swap the shaft out when the replacement arrives
  5. my left axle is making the clunk clunk clunk noise and has play in and out. How hard would it be to repack this thing and hope it holds? or am I going to have to buy a $75 axle from Napa?
  6. fantastic I think I might be able to get some then the parts store says the turbo ones are special but armed with this I may be able to order axles. Are they the same part for both sides or is there a difference?
  7. I am in need of rear axles is there any interchange for the turbo axles?
  8. I am looking for more airflow across the board but mostly I want a cooler charge
  9. ah... point taken i'll hold out for the TD04L then
  10. I'm looking at a vf10/11 from a legacy turbo as a possible upgrade for my stock vf7. here's my question... will the vf10/11 bolt in place of the vf7 or am I better off just converting to the TD04L? I'm not looking for huge power just less heat at the same boost levels. I already have an intercooler and d/v installed on the car and I am planning a set of 280xz-t injectors in the very near future.
  11. I'd sell them to you if you don't mind putting your sliders on them. Plus shipping of course.
  12. I have another subaru only autocross coming up on the 12 of December I will post results of that event no matter how I do. even if I don't win I will say its nice to have a car that can compete my last two autocross cars were DOGS. I will say this I am still learning this car so it will get faster as I drive it more
  13. sure here is the first autocross I attended with the RX I had to use a link because it got messed up trying to cut/paste http://www.ccrscca.com/results/2009solo/ccrknightsax6_raw.htm the second event was a time attack put on by a drift club my times slowed down due to rain Cl/# Driver Location Make /Model Fastest Time POS FR 121 Alan Schoonmaker Concord, NC C4 Corvette 50.591 1 FTD! 14. for auto cross the RX suspension is pretty decent but with the miata struts and coil overs it should be fantastic. this car has made a good showing in it's last two races. 6th out of 31 running no I/c and stock boost and then 5th over all out of 13 winning it's class by about 2 seconds. after the Miata/coil over suspension I hope it will be a FTD car or within a few hundredths of it. I just need a little more power
  15. so what I really need is a wrecked in the rear or rusted to near oblivion EJ car that I can pull the harness and engine out of. Correct?
  16. Numbchux sells a conversion harness for the OBD1 EJ22. I am most likely going to go with that harness and matching computer. I was just wondering if it could handle the extra 245cc of displacement that a 2.5 has. I am leaning heavily toward a 2.2 Frankenstein for my car. it would be a 2.2 bottom end with EJ18 heads (ported and polished naturally) and delta cams. I am planning to use a 2.5RS header and probably my existing exhaust (even though it is probably too big @2.5 in). Intake is the area I'm still working out, the stock airbox on my car is incomplete and there is no heimoltz resonator in the fender. I'm thinking about using two sizes of pipe to try to imitate the resonator 3" for most of the intake but a section of 4" to buffer the pulses. I have seen an intake like this on a friends 2.5RS and he doesn't seem to have any problems RE: AFM misreads. Option two would be to use the resonator box from a newer subaru that mounts right at the TB and go from there on an intake.
  17. can the 2.2 ecu compensate for the additional displacement of a 2.5? I'm not seeing many prepped 2.5 harnesses available just 2.2. TBH I'm just lazy enough to go for a 2.2 because of the harness availability.
  18. this EA was built by someone who knows what he's doing but the years of high boost and equally high RPM have taken their toll. I will be looking for a good EJ22 and probably a set of EJ18 heads to build a high comp Frankenstein EJ. If I can't find a good 2.2 I'll go with a SOHC 2.5... The problem there is I can easily buy a ready made harness for the 2.2
  19. I got the car with the knowledge the engine has had a LOT of abuse. 14psi at the GRM challenge and then rally stages in GA followed by several years of autocross. it has started to use oil a touch faster so I am thinking it is on the way to EA heaven. I'm currently looking at an N/A EJ22 and I've looked into heads and cams for more compression and breathing. what I've discovered is with higher compression and a set of Delta cams the EJ22 makes good power in the 150-170 crank HP range. That would replace the EA nicely and have almost none of the reliability issues associated with the EA.
  20. I have a pretty well set up ea82t but it's showing signs of being tired. I am looking at the EJ22e but I'm worried it will be a performance downgrade compared to my turbo. I am wondering if the 22 can be modified for more power easily? my ea82t is making just shy of 160HP at the crank so the EJ would have to match that at least.
  21. today I replaced an exploded fuel pump and then won my class in time attack at a drift event.
  22. Preparing for an autocross Sunday I am taking on a 2.5 rs and two 500+awhp DSM 3000(ton)gt's so I'm making sure everything is tip top. I tightened all the hose clamps under my hood and diagnosed my low speed off boost stumble. turns out the inlet pipe had come off the turbo and was just sitting on it I also turned up the boost to 11.5 psi if I pull in 4th or 5th from low speed it'll hit fuel cut but if I rev it in a lower gear no fuel cut. It's supposed to rain Sunday so 500hp hopefully will be a detriment
