  1. This is what it was built for. With the back portion of my legacy in the background
  2. The oil is fine, I did a full synthetic oil change 2k miles prior to this. So it really hasn't had a chance to get that dirty. No it doesn't seem like its gaining oil, always seems to stay at the same level. After it did start it smelled like fuel, but it eventually went away after it warmed up. I checked for spark by pulling a plug cap and putting a screwdriver and placing it near the intake manifold. Because I wasn't able to get a plug out due to my lack of tools. When it started, it started just like normal. No black smoke, no rough idle or running. and to mdjdc: I do drive this car every day. When this happened I had drove the car at 7pm the previous night, and it wouldn't start at 10am the next morning
  3. It's a first gen Legacy. So its got an EJ22, its auto. 136k on the clock, and no recent work done, because it hasn't needed it. It was serviced regularly at the local Subaru dealership through the original owners (of whom I bought the car from).
  4. It eventually started up and got me the 300 miles home and then some, without a flaw. I just cranked it and cranked it until it fired. But, it had spark, and it was getting fuel. I just cant figure out why it wouldn't start as easy as normal
  5. How do I go about checking for power at the pump? Or injector signal (I'm not even sure what that is)? This would be a whole lot easier if my car was at home in the garage, but its in my school parking lot. So I have limited access to any tools.
  6. Right now its 28 degrees out with snow and ice all around. I go to start my car and it will do nothing but crank and crank. I've noticed that it also does this when it is low on gas, or I haven't driven it for a couple days. I'm thinking it is an issue with my fuel pump, relay, sending unit, or something around there. Has anyone else had this issue? Or any idea what it may be?
  7. Wow this forum moves quick. Thanks for the info and response. On the EJ20G, are the motor mounts in the same spot?
  8. Is the same block used on most of the EJ motors, just bored/stroked differently? A friend and I are looking to put a EJ20G into a first gen Legacy, but am wondering if it will bolt up to the stock Legacy transmission? What motors will bolt up to this trans (other than the EJ22 of course)?
  9. I have never owned or really looked at a EA81, so I could be wrong. But I believe all EA81's have the 2-bolt top hats. EA82's have the 3-bolt. So no, the lifting methods do not change.
  10. Actually Monstaru is right, these have been answered many times. You just need to read around and search. Regardless of lift height, you keep your stock strut/spring combination. Again, regardless of lift height, you are going to have increased strain on your axles. This is due to the more extreme angle they are put at when lifted. But unless you are wheeling it hard, then there is no reason they will break or reduce the reliability of the car. My EA82 has a 2" lift and I have not had any axle issues and I daily drive it. With 2" lift blocks, you need nothing else in the front. For 2" the blocks are 15* Lets try to keep the drama out, and not bash other members. And remember to search.
  11. how many gallon tank do these have? and what should the MPG's be?
  12. When I put it gas, it took a little over 10 gallons, for my 250 mile trip = 25 MPG. Is that common for 75mph?
  13. I think either my gas mileage is way off, or my gas gauge is wrong. I am getting about 250 miles per tank (when the gas light comes on), and that is all highway going around 75 mpg. I figured I should be getting more than that, so is my gas gauge messed up? Or is that actually what I'm getting? But also, sometimes my gauge will say i have a 1/4 of a tank, but then the next time I start it, it will have a litte under a half tank. What causes this? The car is a 1993 legacy
  14. The muffler is ugly, you are better off to straight-pipe it from the cat back. It will sound better, look better, and still pass emissions. As for the wrx springs, impreza suspension bolts right up as long as you use your legacy tophats

  16. I would not do a 13b, or any rotary for that matter. But if you do, at least do a 20b.
  17. You definitely don't need any type of swap in this car. Like GD posted earlier, the EJ22T is a great motor, most people swap these into their cars, not out. Just rebuild/build what needs it, and it will be perfect. And a intercooler isn't going to help the engine from blowing, basically all they do is make the air going into the motor more dense, and cool, allowing the car to get more air, which will help make more power (short hand version).

  19. This looks awesome! I just have some questions about the vehicle requirements: You say that 4wd is required (of course) but is a D/R necessary? And about having snow tires; is that also necessary, I have a very "hardcore" all-terrain, is that something that will work?
  20. 15* on the front blocks (2 per strut). And yes, those tires are way too big, you need something around the 27-28" size

  22. It was my axle. But the car has been parked until next summer, so it's not going to bother me much now.
  23. Yeah if he's looking at the door, it would say gross weight. Legacy's definitely don't weigh 4500 lbs. They really aren't that heavy of a car. According to wikipedia (which seems correct) the curb weight of a legacy is around 3200 lbs.
  24. If you are still looking for a hub, let me know. I've got two good 4-lug ones, I'd be happy to let one go for dirt cheap. I've also got all the nuts, bolts, washers and the castle nuts for them.
  25. Yeah that's what I was thinking. I'm not to familiar with the Mt Vernon area, where is the meeting area? Also, where is walker valley? (I've never been before)
