  1. yeah, seats folded down, but we were sharing space with some of the stuff I had in the back that never got taken out when I moved out. And the hood is always a classic. We found about 4 different ways to make that one work with my old BMW
  2. Made love in the back for the first time last night with my fiance. Let me tell you, I preferred my Durango over the Subie for such duties. It's way to cramped in the back.
  3. Scorpion used to make 2" lift springs for EJ-series Subarus that were spring ONLY, and read nothing but good reviews from people that put them on their cars, so I figure 1.5" should be fine. I basically just need a stiffer spring rate and a little extra tire clearance. I'd actually probably just set it up about 3/8" higher in the front to help level it and go with less than 1.5" in the back.
  4. I'm looking to install some coilover sleeves and mount them in a way that gives my GL-10 about 1.5-1.75" of lift. Anybody know where I can get some coilovers sleeves that will fit around stock shocks? I've yet to find GL-10 coilovers sleeves and I heard somewhere that Honda Civic sleeves will fit, but I don't know which Civic it is or even if that's true.
  5. Rallied mine today. Got up to the top of a really rutted, steep-in-some-areas logging road, then hauled balls to the bottom again. Got out to check for damage and saw my brake pads smoking... hmmm... probably not a good thing, but everything is back to normal now.

Anywho, all these brilliant ideas came from me doing quite a bit of research and speculating after making that original post. What do you guys think of my ideas for suspension?

If I were you, I'd build a pair of custom anti-sway bars (they're not that hard to build, just get the right diameter/wall thickness of DOM chromo) and retrofit some bushings for it. And get the Eibach springs. Eventually, I'd like to modify a set of D2 rally coilovers to fit my GL-10. I saw a GL-10 that had 05-09 Legacy coilovers mounted in it and they worked well. I'd assume that good anti-sway bars and the coilovers would make a WORLD of difference. If you make anti-sway bars, though, make them adjustable. Just make multiple mounting holes at each end. Also, the strut tower brace will be extremely easy to build and should make a little bit of a difference.
  8. Found an intercooler that my friend will sell me for cheap. Also decided to make my own boost controller. Which means I need a boost gauge.
  9. I got it! It's mine!
  10. Gettin my new subie in 2 hours!
  11. You'd get a lot more travel and flex out of a solid axle, though. Or at least easier axle articulation.
  12. That's what I'm trying to keep an eye out for, though I've heard that you can't get a center diff limited slip/locker in Subies with an auto transmission (which this one has for the time being).
  13. There's no push button on it...yet... but as I mentioned in my first post, I'm going to use the switch that used to control the auto leveling rear suspension for that. After thinking about it, rally is the only sensible direction to go with this one... ...and the coolest!
  14. The BRAT that belonged to Ronald Regan was restored using only original BRAT parts and is now owned by Subaru.
  15. HP has a few rally guys in it judging by the pics on their site. is NW WA Off road like this too? I need some more info now because I'm realizing I'm more interested in the rally side of off road than trail riding.

Not a wagon, but still very cool Leone Rally cars

I'm considering building my GL-10 for light rally duty, nothing serious, mostly dirt roads with minor elevation changes and a few ruts. Afterall, this car has to be my daily driver, too. But anyways, what should I do for suspension? I'd like to get a heavy duty set of shocks/springs because cars ARE known for occasionally leaving the ground when I'm behind the wheel. And I'm thinking a set of better anti-sway bars would be good, too. But as far as I know, nobody makes anything like this for the GL-10, so what parts (for what vehicles) would be easiest to modify to work with the GL? Most of my rally conversion will be looks, too. I'm a rally fan, but can't afford to do the real thing, so I'll put a lightbar on the front and proudly flaunt the decals of the brands that make the products I install. Anyone got pics of older subie wagons used for rally? You know, for a little inspriration?
  18. Whoa, NW Off Road and Hatch Patrol are basically one club from what I see. I've heard a lot about hatch patrol... good things, well built cars, great members, etc.
  19. See that's what I'm confused about. The car say "FULL-TIME AWD" on the side and it's the type where you remove the fuse under the hood to put it in AWD, or put it in for FWD. No lever or switch. It was a 1989 BMW 525i w/ the M20 engine and auto transmission.
  20. And just for the record, this club isn't a USMB-only thing. It's being covered on quite a few Subaru forums.
  21. Actually, the one member who blogs about it is me. I'm just waiting to get a hold of the title to my bmw so that I can truly finalize stuff.
