  1. Looks like a Supercharger to me.
  2. I don't think he cares how it looks
  3. All Impreza's have had driver and passanger side airbags. Heck, if it wasnt as big of a deal to remove airbags I would have done it a long time ago from my L... But its just not worth it with the potential legal risks.
  4. FYI, removing airbags from an airbag equiped car is a federal offense. Plus, If you have an accident and they are not working or not installed, you could be liable for all the damages and then some. Its best to just leave them in... Anyway, I like that bumper Looks mean. You need to do it to the rear bumper as well.
  5. Wow that sounds great! Wish I could save the vid though... I'm going for a custom exhaust whenever mine is smoged and running right (probalby a long while), glad to know it sounds as awesome as I thought it would sound
  6. Not if you shut the car off or it dies or you let off the gas too much... You can potentially suck water up the exhaust.
  7. I hope not, the wagon brackets are long gone...
  8. I lucked out. There was a first gen wagon today at the pick n pull I go to that NEVER has more than 3-5 Subarus... It was in pretty bad shape, but the rear bumper was intact and NOT BENT! Woot! So I picked it up for my wagon... I'll do some work to clean it up, but it looks like it will fit. Has anyone else had a different model bumper on the wagon before?
  9. Thats the best option I would think. Just some funky attachment that makes a 90 degree bend then goes up to the top of the trunk or higher...
  10. Its a hell of a lot cheaper than the performance stuff...
  11. Who cares about the drivetrain when the body is in that good of shape!
  12. I repaired most of the rust on my '78 Wagon. I had to replace a fender and two doors though, and cut sections of rusty holes out of the roof. Took alot of work, but it is under control now.
  13. Do both. Actually, I would do the AA kit, Forester struts, and Scorpion springs, plus taller tires
  14. You paid too much. Going rate on NASIOC private classifieds is ~$150 for a VF39 and $200 or less for an STI intercooler. I see them all the time at those prices, locally too (so no shipping costs). A simple reflash like that is what, $500-650 I think, and I could source the required piping for free from shops that have it sitting around.
  15. I don't remember if andy installed a LSD in his or not... But that model of Impreza does not come with one stock. None of the L's came with LSD's, not sure about the OBS's. The 98-01 RS has LSD's stock. High-end foresters had them stock too I think, and alot of Outbacks and Legacys too but not usually base models, the Legacy GT's (recent and older models) do.
  16. For LSD's you can use any other subaru rear diff. If it has the same rear final drive ratio, I think yours is 4.11 but I'm not certain, and it just bolts up... But other LSD rear's from other Imprezas/Legacy's/Foresters with different ratios can be used by using the ring and pinion from your diff. The front wheel spinning is the same thing i've noticed since all new subaru AWD systems other than the STI don't have front LSD's... You have to go aftermarket for that.
  17. Ya, FF-1's are OMGYOULUCKYBASTARD rare Welcome Please post pics ASAP!!!
  18. Front or rear? Auto or manual?
  19. Its the same shortblock. The heads are the same too, but apparently the STI has slightly better cams. The turbo, exhaust piping, intercooler and tuning are the main differences. If you run a STI VF39 (turbo) with the STI uppipe, STI exhaust, and intercooler with an ECU reflash (all of which can be done for <$1000) you will basically have an STI motor.
  20. Congrats! Mine is still a ways from being able to register it
  21. Usually Ebay/Internet private sale prices I see are lower than local private sales (newspaper, used car lots, private sale signs on cars, and the local private sale "meet" every weekend) but in this case probably not for this car. Although I do see alot of 80's subarus in the sub $500 range on Craigslist...
