Insurance rape: Need help proving value of subie
That doesnt matter to them. Its 20+ year old car with no collectability. Sure, there are a few people here who would spend $1000 on a old Subaru, I know I would, but thats not the value of the car for insurance purposes. There are differences between percieved value, retail value, private sale value, and insurance value. I know you probably definatly need more money than $400 or you might have alot of trouble replacing the car, but thats a risk when you drive such an old car with no real value. I do hope you can get them to part with more money, but you have a huge burecratic fight on your hands... However, I noticed you havent stated the name of the company... Which company is it? Regional value differences are more drastic than you think. Used Imprezas and Legacys here in California are very expensive. When my '95 Impreza was totaled, I got $4000 for it. I was surprised I got that much, but if you can't find a used Impreza in California for much less than that, especially since it was a 5-speed with AWD. (FWD Imprezas still go for $3000) My replacement Impreza cost $6000, and its a 95 as well (albiet with an RS drivetrain )

I could use some Service Manual info for my Offical Curb Weight list...
Well the RX does have more of its weigh confined between the wheelbase, which will help it feel less weighty... But anything that weighs ~2700lbs is not really that heavy.

Innexpensive LSD's... OBX?
The honda gripes I saw were people running a ton of power through the stock gearbox... But I didnt see too many examples. There is a guy over on NASIOC installing a OBX front LSD and a rear Phantom Grip... Should be interesting

Innexpensive LSD's... OBX?
Subaru's are like legos. The EJ 5-speed has hardly changed over the past 15 years... They say only 02+, but I see no reason why it wont fit any EJ 5-speed, and it might fit 4EAT's too but I don't know for sure.

Innexpensive LSD's... OBX?
Well this is something to have done if your tranny looses a gear or something else breaks, have it done while its opened up anyway.

I could use some Service Manual info for my Offical Curb Weight list...
Hey guys, ive been compiling a list of curb weights for all model subarus that I can get info on. I don't have much so far, and i've been using mostly online resources like cars101 and edmunds, along with some help from NASIOC members (which is where I have a thread on this running) but I know you guys are better with FSM info, which seems to be the best and most reliable so far So, if anyone has time, I could use some help with additional information to try and complete this list...

Innexpensive LSD's... OBX?
I just discovered them over on NASIOC, but aparently they have been out a couple months... OBX, a "cheap" brand that has been putting out parts for Subarus for a little while now has a front LSD for EJ 5-speed Subarus for only $450 now, and thats brand new not used... I've never seen diffs for that cheap before. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-Helical-LSD-02-05-Subaru-Impreza-WRX-STi-Front_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33731QQitemZ8028305992QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Thoughts anyone?

04 STI LSDs fit 4EAT Forester?
You can use any rear LSD you want with any transmission as long as you use the ring and pinnion from that transmission. The front however, no idea... I'd like to know as well.

Forrester - Lemon or typical??
Kostamojen replied to murphsubaru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX$1000 in repairs is nothing...

AWD/4WD Impreza, it works! WHOAH! (4EAT = AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, not 5spd)
Honestly, I dont mind that its a 4EAT. Its UNGODLY fast... I'm just sad its not mine, but I did all the convincing to get them to buy it

AWD/4WD Impreza, it works! WHOAH! (4EAT = AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, not 5spd)
FYI, the 4EAT in 1rst or 2nd worked just fine doing plow duty these last couple of days ... I saw some front wheel spin for a second, but it wasnt bad. I think the 4EAT would be nice with a front LSD.
-
ok who rolled thier wagon
Thats not the first, not even the third Subaru to roll on Mt. Hamilton...

AWD/4WD Impreza, it works! WHOAH! (4EAT = AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, not 5spd)
Or an STI 6-speed with DCCD
-
Impreza Snorkle, *DONE!*
With the old school MAF intake, you should have just made a 90 degree elbow from the throttle to the MAF and then had the pipe go out at a higher location on the fender and maybe have the airbox on the outside of the car...

Anyone runnin' the 15" Pug flat spokes?
Well mine is a "historic" scoob, so its a little different, but I have the 15"s + 205/55/15's: http://community.webshots.com/photo/166896604/458793324uMyRNS http://community.webshots.com/photo/166896604/458792973jibXAC

Gen 1 with Peugeot 15' 's
The worst your speedo would be off with wider tires (but with a 15" wheel with lower profile tires) is probably less than 5mph at 70mph. But since my speedo cable is fubared, I cant tell you exactly what its like. I can tell you that with slightly taller tires, your gearing is slightly taller as a result, which means you do lower RPM's at speed, which is good for mileage and means you can go a touch faster with the 4-speed.
