Looking at a 96 Impreza.Questions
Kostamojen replied to dave valiant's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXCheck for leaks in the engine bay and under the car, drive it and see if the clutch is any good, drive through all the gears too. The price is pretty good. Its not super, but its not bad either. Its less than I paid for my 95 3 years ago, and the mileage isnt that bad either (mine has 125k). Check the VIN history and see if there are any issues too. Two door coupes with manual trannies are hard to come by, especially if its in decent shape physically inside and out.

Strange Vibration in 97 impreza
Kostamojen replied to simbey1982's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe steering wheel vibration isnt probably something that deals with the wheel itself. Check for flat spots on the tires, bad suspension bushings, warped rotors, etc.

Is the engine page completely accurate???
Just curious, cause im seeing different power numbers from different sources, specifically about the last of the carb EA81's... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/specs/mechanical/engine-specs.html There it shows like 74hp, 94tq, while chiltons guides show like 82hp/101tq, and other places i see other numbers... Anyway, im really just curious which is specifically the best carborated EA engine that was in Subarus.

Custom turbo header
Kostamojen replied to josh long's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXOh I see, its hard to tell what is going on with the uppipe. I thought you basically used the stock cast iron parts of the header and extended them a little along with the crossover pipe, but its more complicated than that. Why are you setting it up like this again?

Custom turbo header
Kostamojen replied to josh long's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell actually that is a stock header, just with the crossover pipes extended and the uppipe made a bit differently.

If modification = jig welds, then no, I dont think that will happen

Stuffing a EA81 into a 1978 Wagon.
Hmm, maybe it was the wierd displacement EA81 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/specs/mechanical/engine-specs.html I went through all the subarus there, checked every engine designation... Found that 2-door, checked the door and it said it was built in 87.... So, I guess its that funky engine? We need to go down there together and see whats there, then find some time to get up to carson city.

CR-V vs. SUBARU AWD
Ya, the CR-V is basically a FWD system until it detects slip. Thats actually the most common style of AWD systems, Subaru's is still quite unique despite the increase in AWD systems on the market.

Stuffing a EA81 into a 1978 Wagon.
That seems like it will be rather hard to find... I found myself staring at a low mileage EA81 (83k I think) on an 87 Coupe at the junkyard when I was there... Could pretty much any EA81 use the Brat crossmember?
