  1. To the best of my knowledge, you never open the bleed to reset the piston. Just take the pads off and then reset it with a C-Clamp.
  2. The pads come out one you take the caliper bracket off. You might have to wiggle them a bit. Put the new pads in the same postiion as the old once. Don't forget to reset the piston with a C-Clamp.
  3. Both of my rear CVs went out- boots ruptured, slinging grease everywhere. I pulled them and had them rebuild at a local rebuilder. Good as new! The problem was pulling them. DARN was it hard! Had to remove the strut bolts and a million other things.
  4. You need to use NGK Laser Platinum plugs. These are the *same* as the OE plugs. Don't use any other make or model- only the Laser Platinum. Also you must use the NGK wires. Nothing else.
  5. I had the 16 AT flash. It was the Duty C Solenoid alright. The actual solenoid costs around $100 and comes with a small gasket for it and a large gasket for the trans extension housing. Also get some Red Permatex. It takes a while to get into the extension housing. You have to remove the exhaust pipe, the central drive shaft and them the many bolts for the trans extension housing. Once you pry open the housing you'll see the solenoid. Remove the old, put in the new with the gasket and permatex, put on the new large gasket and permatex and them put everything back together. I started one night around 11pm and finished around 6pm. I worked pretty much straight and one of the senior mechanics helped me put it all back together. We stopped for coffee a few times.
  6. We went through 4 AutoZone alternators one afternoon until we got one that worked. Some come and they are so poorly made and are warped that we can't get all the bolts into them.
  7. Avoid extended warranties. So says Consumer Reports.
  8. Loaded with GR-2 doesn't exist. I called KYB and begged them to do this. They said it didn't exist. I had to buy OE coils and KYB struts, bellows boots and mounts and put them all together at the shop. I got one of the senior mechanics to help me and it is a 2 person job putting it in and getting the bolts to line up and put the nuts on them in the car.
  9. I've got a front cat converter and O2 sensor that I'd be happy to sell you at a highly discounted price. I bought them but ended up not using them.
  10. Check engine light possibly? Sounds like an electrical problem, likely computer controlled solenoid or similar. I say that as you said if you turn off the car for even a second but try again it works. Just sounds like a computer issue. It can also be a hydrolic issue, tho I would start with electrical.
  11. Bit much for such an old legacy. The knock can be anything. It can be something loose that's bouncing around or it can be engine knock. You really have to investigate it and it might take a while to find out.
  12. Replaced the knock sensor today with an aftermarket I got at Advance for $43. There was a $30 off code, which I think it pretty cool. I cleared the code and let the car idle for 10 minutes and the CEL didn't come back. Also scanned it and saw no pending codes. Got the old engine in the basement of my friend's house. In a few weeks I'll head over and we'll take the heads off and send them out for machining. Will also begin to strip the block, as well.
  13. Got the car back. It doesn't seem worse for the wear. Nothing is obviously missing, and it seems to be working ok.
  14. I did. I called Patrol Division and the Detectives Division and they all said the same thing. This is obscene. I was almost murdered and my car stolen in a violent attack. The police are doing a good job of making this more traumatic.
  15. I called the PD and asked to talk to the detective on the case. They told me none is assigned. I asked how/when I can get my car back. They said I would need to talk to the PO who took the report, but he gets on duty at midnight. No one else can help me, they said. This is really, really unhelpful.
  16. Larry, they told me they are having an evidence technician go through the car and dust it for prints and other info that might lead to the perp. It was used as a get away car in an armed robbery.
  17. Larry, they found my car and my keys. Keys were a few blocks away under a dumpster. They took both my car and keys to the police dept as evidence. No idea when I will get it back or if anything is missing. I didn't get a chance to check my car or even see it. This Chicago->Boston trip has left me stranded in multiple areas.
  18. I am visitng friends in New Haven, CT and was carjacked at their house. I had broken down in Michigan City, IN but got out of there after getting a used EJ25. I am male. The baby statement was meant as humor.
  19. I am being factually correct when I say a black man, 5'6-5'8, thin build, wearing a black hoodie with the hood over his head came on the driveway, pointed a gun at my head and took my car. It's merely descriptive. I would have just as easily said white man.
  20. Yeah, and I'll also be getting a gun. I'll hang out on the porch with a shotgun. Might send a message to the locals.
