  1. I can see a crappy voltage regulator spiking the amps, causing fuses to blow.
  2. OBS = Outback Sedan OBW = Outback Wagon
  3. The swap isn't too hard and a tranny can be had for under $100 if you know where to find one. I'd try some lucas gear oil additive...but it sounds like a synchro or a fork broke or jammed.
  4. My car. First Subaru I've owned. 2wd. Photo taken with a disposable camera.
  5. Still want that bumper...I can make a steel bumper look stock:banana:.
  6. Yes, well, depends on what VW stuff you want. With these...from www.sjrlift.com
  7. Report it stolen. Since you have have the title.
  8. What are you putting it in?
  9. Don't run complete ATF...maybe a half of a quart and the rest be gear oil. I think the nut on bottom is a 19mm or 22mm. Yeah, about the manuals having the dipstick. My friend has an automatic and the prior owner decided he should add some oil to the tranny...he put ATF in the diff oil spout.
  10. Water pump isn't hard... the axle isn't much harder. I recommend replacing the timing belts with the water pump too. Here's a procedure from the USRM (ultimate Subaru repair manual) for the timing belts. Here's some info about axle removal.
  11. Very good work. I can see it now. "Click here to buy your ready to drop in EJ conversion. Comes with Adapter plate, EJ, carburetor and installation manual." Great craftsmanship. How do you install the distributor?
  12. My friend actually placed 4th in open class in rallyx two years ago with a RX. He had 2.5" turbo back exhaust, dual core radiator, and an intercooler, that's all the mods. You just have to make sure that you don't overboost and you have to the engine cool, that's how you make EA82s work. Rallyx isn't so much about power as it is about Driver skills. You can have an STi out there and still place low because the person doesn't know how to drive it. Yes. Pretty easily, compared to swapping the engine into the Gl-10. You'd need adapter plates, axles ends (I think) and a maybe a modified driveshaft. Some people have done it on the board, they'll be more help.
  13. I bet ya you have a boost/vacuum leak. That would explain no idles once warm, hard starts after stalls, and no boost light.
  14. I have nothing. But I can help you with information on installing the ea81 into the gen 1 body. I don't know if the engine mounts are any different, but I do know that the ea81 crossmember is different. I can go out tomorrow and get some measurements for ya, if no one else can get them sooner. I helped my friend put a complete EA81 engine and drivetrain into a Gen 1 Brat, but I also lifted it 4 inches.
  15. Did you ever do this? I know it's an old post, but there wasn't ever an update.
  16. Exactly what I meant. (Knowing nothing about Toyotas) I want a solid axle with 3.9 ratio.
  17. Hello. I know nothing about toyotas...do they have rear ends where the ratio is 3.9? If so, where can I get one? I'm thinking of a project with a Subaru transmission to be used.
  18. Well, a DIY oil change runs me about $18, so $20 plus tax is very appealing.
  19. Delta Cam. They are an active user here.
  20. I don't think anything needs to be cut. Anywhere. The beauty about ea82s are, everything is usually there to mount any combination to. If you check out the shifter setup of the dual range, everything is on the arm that the shifter attaches to, all that stuff just pokes up through the tunnel. As for the rear components, I think all the bolt holes are there...don't hold me to it though. I thought there was a write up in the USRM, I couldn't find it.
  21. Nice find. I got my RX for $350. Replaced the head gaskets and wheel bearing...no problems since. Well, it has the TOD but you know how that goes.
  22. We used that when I worked at an Iron Work shop. If we had to weld galvanized material, we'd clean the weld then spray it with that. It holds up for YEARS. Check out cyclone fence gates, you'll see where they use it on the welds.
  23. Yes, yes it can. www.sjrlift.com www.ozified.com www.headtraumainc.com (I recommend the Head Trauma, inc. Site. (only because it's mine:lol:)).
