  1. Where is the most reliable source for wiring Diagrams. Ok...I Know FSMs are...but what about chiltons or haynes. Or can anyone lead me to a good engine wiring diagram for any turbo 87 +. Thanks! Justin.
  2. I meant "Not a toyota" because that's the only vehicle I have owned that says something along the lines of needs a feeler guage to tighten your front "axle" nuts.
  3. No, you want it tight. Like 150ft/lbs tight. This isn't a toyota. This holds your spindle together.
  4. You'll just need your basic toolset. PLus a 36mm socket (or crescent wrench) tool pull the castle nut off. An impact is a plus but not required. Um...I've done brakes by undoing the castle nut, and the four 14mm(headed) bolts that hold the rotor to the spindle. And you just tap the end of the axle stub with a soft faced hammer (better keep the castle nut on, but loose). Oh yeah, that brake cylinder...you need a special tool, or just a pair of needle nose pliars. You have to open the bleeder and twist it clockwise for it to go in. There is another way of doing it without opening the bleeder...anyone know?
  5. It probably will. 4wd on these older cars is for when "Wheel slip is expected" Like snow, ice, and mud. There isn't a center differential in most of the older trannies. Putting it in 4wd on asphault will cause the wheels to bind up...especially on tight turns. This in turn puts a lot more stress on your axles and you whole drive train. Best case scenario (if anything were to go wrong) you break an axle. One worst case you bust your tranny. Put your car in 4lo and make a tight turn...you will hear wheel chirp and your car might even hop. But hey, if you go fast and this is just a fun car (or if you have backup cars) who cares. HAVE FUN!
  6. HAH HAH I just re-read the post. I'm tired....I thought you wanted to have the seats removable.
  7. My friend is thinking about converting his ea81 to an ea82t....(I'm yelling EJ EJ EJ) would any wiring harness from 87.5 and up plug into and work for any 87.5 ECU? If not, please explain the possibilities.
  8. Is there a demand for megasquirt units? I'm thinking of a business idea:grin:.
  9. Ah it's the same thing isn't it?
  10. That fact his plenum popped off would mean too much boost, right?
  11. Hello. Do you want to know the thickness of the brake rotor(disc)?
  12. Compression test that engine. All four cylinders, take all the plugs out and comp. test it. check the spark at each plug wire, it should be a nice blue color. Very bright. My friend had a car that would start and run like crap...turned out to be a crappy coil wire...the spark looked yellow like a flame. What about ignition timing....needs to be 20' BTDC with green connectors connected. The black smoke could be a burnt exhaust valve...happened to me.
  13. Stupid question....how much gas do you have?
  14. What's wrong with bending it back? Unless there is a serious kink in it, no worries. You think it's some high carbon piece of steel, that might "shatter". If you think that's the "worst advice ever" then anyone with a lift and bigger tires should have bigger rotors and calipers...nah that might be the second to worst advice ever....that's even more dangerous than bending a piece of mild steel back into place. If you wanna tell me my job (iron/steel worker) go ahead. Oh, and I have done this and drove over 10K on it. You just have to make sure you get it realigned. Sorry, I just took offense. I know that replacing it would be the best thing, but if you think of all the things we do to these machines, bending a rod back and having it realigned is the least of my worries.
  15. Nah, plates, tags, and title transfer (same as registering) was a little less than $120. So, brumby, you pay $470 for registration and insurance?
  16. I've never had a problem with my accel and stock disty in either my 1983 wagon or my 1987 ea82t wagon. I've put over 50k on each. EDIT: I'm not saying that you're wrong, just stating my experiences. Maybe I'm just lucky.
  17. If you have questions about your lifters check these guys out http://www.mizpahprecision.com/pricing.htm They remanufacture the lifters...like $5.20 a piece without core and $4.50 if you send them your core. They told me that it would take shipping plus 1 or 2 days to get them back. But I never bought any from them because my Tick of DEATH was cured by an oil pump reseal.
  18. You could bend the rod back and replace the ends and get it aligned.
  19. Yeah i know, it's about 1.5 year's late. But check it out...lifted xt-6. Who's is it? http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=10101&cat=500&ppuser=4732
  20. I asked because it could have been your High/Reverse bands. I had this same problem in my 1983 GL with 3at. It turned out to be the governor housing was loose and leaking ATF...it couldn't pressurize for the high gear.
  21. Do you have problems with PARK? Does it still roll?
  22. The EGR on my RX was disconnected when I bought the car, I'm thinking of hooking it back up. I have been getting pinging and i KNOW my timing is DEAD ON. It could be a lot of other factors like knock sensor and stuff....but I run Chevron Supreme, so I know it';s not the gas.
  23. Then what is that thing that is inline with my alternator's belt? Is it the radial defibrillator?
