  1. Hello all. I have a quick question, before I goto summer college (YAY...not really). What do I need to do a 5 lug conversion on my 87 Gl-10? All the parts listed, would be a good thing Look Late for my first day of my first class. That's typical of me. Late for everything. If you knew me, you'd think that was an understatement. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.
  2. I'm gunna have to try that. I saw a home made one on a 2.5 RS...i was wondering what the heck it was. Wait, what's the charcoal can for?
  3. SWEET. At least she's giving it to someone who will respect it for what it is. Right?
  4. Goof off and goo begone tend to be Xylene based. Xylene is a pretty hot paint thinner...it could cause the paint to run. But yeah, if it's getting painted...why not try.
  5. It's getting painted? sand it maybe? with some medium sand paper...like 120 grit?
  6. What's that next to the 4wd selector...almost looks like the middle diff controller found on STi's
  7. sealed or not sealed what's better?
  8. Hello. I need to replace my wheel bearings, no big deal (I hope). But I was thinking of going to a bearing warehouse, or what not, and getting some high grade, sealed, bearings. good idea or not? And could I have the bearing numbers for a 4wd 1987 GL-10 or equivalent. Thanks for your time. [HTi]Johnson
  9. Nice, so you're gunna make a custom up pipe? So any ideas on how you're gunna do it. and how wide is it gunna be. I was told, the wider the laggier, but better top end.
  10. Yeah Clogged catylitic convertor. Do you have to pass smog inspections in california? If yes. Replace the convertor. If not, you can take all the stuff out of the convertor. with a flexible, but stiff, piece of rod. Just stick it in there and start jabbing. Stuff should come out the back side. It's best to do this with the pipe off. But I believe in most, if not all, states, it's illegal to not have a catylitic convertor. And in California, they're pretty strict.
  11. He's a one man operation. I give props to him for what I have seen him pull off. [HTi]Johnson
  12. NWS what the hell? That is what? but ok. Everyone, Brad says, there might be "NWS" banners on that site. So be warned, especially if you don't know what NWS means, like me:lol:

  14. My friends have driven everywhere in Disabled 4wd mode. (Broke front axle) Like hundred of miles on Highway and in city driving. I wouldn't be too worried.
  15. Where can I find a semi-complete engine rebuild kit for a Justy? Or just Main bearings, rod bearings and rings.
  16. How high is too high?
  17. Everythign I have received from auto parts stores have been the wrong parts. Except I ordered them from Brian, he works at Napa, and is on this board. Hey brian you still here? One shop gave me a wire set, that had 5 plug wires and a coil wire. WTF man. [HTi]Johnson
  18. That STi engine...isn't going in that brat in the background?
  19. Well first off. What kinda car is it(year, and injected or carb'd?). If I infer right, it's an EA81 because you don't mention a 5th gear. did you replace BOTH fuel filters? One in the engine bay and one next to the fuel pump. You did say that you replaced the pump, so you might have replaced it. What kinda plugs did you put in?
  20. Ok when you are putting them on, hopefully you took them out from the outside in. You put them on from the middle and work your way out 9 2 4 6 ---1 7 5 3 8 Hopefully that helps. Did you want torque specs? did you check in the first pages of chapter 2? Oh yeah WELCOME TO THE BOARD. It's the most valuable thing, to me, about subarus.
  21. I guess what I am trying to do is make it so when I land hard my car doesn't recoil and compress hard. I want it to take a 12 to 24 inch drop without hitting really hard.
  22. Yeah I have a dirt bike a yz250 1998. But I was just toying with the idea. How is the strut suspension limited? Educate me everyone!
  23. Hey all. I was wondering what vehicle has half shafts that the middle parts slides into and over each other. Not a subaru, but a jeep or toyota, that's where I think someone said. I was thinking of making them work in my GL-10 for some serious travel (up and down). Unless there's a secret someone wants to tell me.
  24. Optic disty's are used in EA82s with fuel injection...or is it strictly a turbo thing? . They are electronically advanced. And your's is vacuum advanced. The optic means there is a disc in there and has 360 slits in it, and on one side of it, there is an LED(Light emitting diode) and on the other side is a photo reactive cell(forgot the spiffy term) and it pretty much sends the light through the slits and the cell tells the computer "light-no light-light-no light" I believe that is for the crank posistion sensor. If you have a vacuum advance disty, I wouldn't worry about a dust cover. I have an optic disty with no cover...I've never seen covers on any optic disty....is that bad? EDIT: I don't know if they are used in EA81 turbos.
  25. What about the oh so awesome BAJA!!!
