  1. Tell your friend you put a 5speed in his SVX!!! [HTi]Johnson
  2. What about your injector plug wires. I had one loose, and it was doing the same thing as your's. How are the plug wires? What about plugs, my friend had two plugs pretty much explode in the cylinder. Cap and rotor? GOod?
  3. Yeah, you gotta tell us what is what. What does the GL have and what does the GL-10 have. The GL-10 might have a different spline count on the inner CV(Double offset joint) than the GL. Because it is a turbo. Someone will explain better than me. But interior stuff like seats and console will swpa with no prob. So i think the major differences with the GL-10 is Turbo'd, it may have air stuts (tend to be a bad thing, but you can swap your GL's struts into, with little mod'ing, if any). More specific info, will get ya more specific answers . [HTi]Johnson
  4. What kind? Do some searching, they are tube bumpers and channel bumpers. Tube bumpers are more expensive. I was thinking of getting into fabbing them up. But all the politics on this board...I don't think i want to get into it. But I might!
  5. Belts should be replaced every 60,000miles. No, you shouldn't have to take the engine out. This is really helpful Timing Belt Check and Adjustment Good luck.
  6. it's running in limp home mode.
  7. Hello All. I would like a quote for a reasonable price for EA82 rear swing arms and struts. Used. I'm trying to make a deal with someone who has them. :-p We just don't know what a reasonable price would be.
  8. What kinda work have you done to this car? Are you getting spark to all spark plugs? You check the plugs?...I assume you did all the basic trouble shooting, but I like to sound like I know what I am doing. It could be a clogged catylitic convertor..(one or both). If you messed with the timing belts...it could be running on two cylinders(I've done that)
  9. Buy it. It's not hard at all, to do all those things. The hardest part...would be the half shaft. but that would take like an hour. AS long as you know what to do, which you could, if you ask the board. Very worth buying.
  10. You took the pipe that ran from the top of the thermostat housing to the intake? That's bad. It's required. As I look at it more...this is an ea81?!
  11. Yes. try to adjust it. In a Haynes manaul, it tells you how. I got a car because that same reason. If I remember right, it's on the driver's side of the tranny. right above the oil pan. You need to loosen the big nut and turn the small nut clockwise, just a little bit...not too tight, because it could wear the band out too much. I did mine a little at a time... here this may help http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17203
  12. Gl-10 right? Is it turbo'd. Fuel injected or carb'd? Did you make sure to plug the line that went from the Intake manifold to the Auto matic tranny? If not, that will create an intake leak.
  13. If you can, wait it out and ask people on the board for a 4wd tranny. They seem like fun little cars. I want one.
  14. Very nice wagon. Just wanted to say that, sorry I don't know where the switch is.
  15. You might want to ask on inb the USMB marketplace... here. [HTi]Johnson
  16. Engine shaking could be a timing issue. like cylinder(s) not firing. Have you done an ignition tune up on it? Like distributor cap, rotor, plugwires, and plugs? Ever taken a timing light to it? How about the fuel filter? My engine shook something fierce. I found out it was a loose injector wiring.!! But it's fixed now and idles smooth. As for the ticking...if it is a valve...it's not THAT bad, some people live with it. I can't. People have ways of fixing it. Some people will just replace the HVLA..some use seafoam or MMO(Marvel's Mystery Oil). And just a simple oil change helps. Maybe the oil in the car now has lost it's viscosity? What I do to fix the tick of death is...and oil change with 1/2quart to 1quart of ATF. Yes. ATF...it's a detergent and will clean your engine and Valve lashers right up. It takes a couple minutes of...let's say...high RPM driving. And where in Oregon do you live? [HTi]Johnson
  17. Did they mess with the rear diff...this may seem out of context, but your rear diff should be 3.7 ratio...my old car, someone put a 3.9 in it..for the rear diff...and the AT was 3.7. After a couple tens of miles in 4wd...it fooked the Auto Tranny up.
  18. Maybe the seal manufacturers didn't wanted to deal with people saying "You only sent me 4 of 8 seals!!!" [HTi]Johnson
  19. Does it superheat the fuel before it is introduced into the cylinder?
  20. Hey i found out that's a stupid question. IDIOT!
  21. I'm sure you are, but are you putting to friction disk in right? The side stamped Flywheel is towards, well, the flywheel? But it sounds like your throwout bearing(release bearing) was riding the pressure plate(thing with fingers) all the time, even with the clutch engaged to the flywheel. Did you adjust the cable to the new clutch? My friend didn'tdo that before. I hope my babbling helps. [HTi]Johnson
  22. Does your fork move when you push in the clutch?
  23. Will it work? Putting an EA81 radiator into a EA82T car, without the mech. fan. And...another Q. Ok, my car has a problem where I drive, and accelerate and it sounds/feels like it has restriction but it's catless. Also sounds like the waste gate is opening, alot. This happens sometimes, enough to be annoying. I already replaced the cap, rotor, wires, and plugs. Any ideas. 1987 Gl-10 Thanks, [HTi]Johnson
  24. How far is the move? You could just keep a supply of oil handy.
  25. EA81s use push rods. With a central cam. The cam pushes the rod...which hits a rocker arm that pushes down on the valve, which in turn opens the valve.
