  1. Not too hard, if you have two people. I just pulled the Down Pipe(from the turbo) and pull the engine with the turbo attached. [HTi]JOhnson
  2. Where can I find the conversion info? to SPFI [HTi]Johnson
  3. Hey I looked into the SPFI conversion...on the USRM and the link is dead. What carbs should I use? What is the simplest? Two Webers 32/36s or the equivelant to half (since it is splitting the intake by half) [HTi]Johnson
  4. What's stopping me from running two carbs...one on each intake port? I know there is coolant lines running through those? ANy tips/shoot downs/incouragement? [HTi]Johnson
  5. Thanks...i was thinking of using 2" tube...for the whole car...but a 20'ft bar is $2.50 a foot. $50 a bar. I'll look into 1.75" tube...it's .095 wall which would make the I.D. roughly 1 5/8 ". I am kinda limited to the die set my work has... Thanks...I'll post pics once it is done...if I ever get it done. [HTi]Johnson
  6. The pump is by the tank, passenger side. I know you said you replaced the fuel filter. If this is like an EA81 Carb, there is two filters....one by the pump and one in the engine bay.
  7. Hello. I have my motor back together (reseal) and I went to put the X over pipe on, I noticed it was fubar'd. All tore up and holes. So, I know that I could just get another from people on the boards...but I would like to make my own. With 2" I.D. pipe. Well the question is...should I make it the same as the original, or what? I've seen people do some crazy stuff....like use the same length of pipe for each port to the turbo. Does this really matter, to have each port go through the same amount of pipe before it goes to the turbo? I was also thinking of using 1.5" for the DISTY side to the turbo side port and then 2" to the turbo. Well, let me know what ya'll think. Thanks. [HTi]Johnson
  8. What about the fuel filter in the engine bay? 85sub4wd...where is that about the SPFI? I looked, but I'm dumb. [HTi]Johnson
  9. Yup, my subaru is getting a very early oil and filter change...like 2500 miles early.
  10. I'd say you spun a cup. The Inner cup is spinning around the shaft...hence the funny noise you here. You should be able to do what mikie suggested with relative ease. You don't need to get on the ground. Just pop the hood and look. Keep us updated. [HTi]Johnson
  11. there is a fuel filter in front of your rear passenger tire. Above a shield. Next to the fuel pump. [HTi]Johnson
  12. I know people who used a carbed block in place of a turbo block. There is a risk of shiz breaking Due to the compression. But this car went 200+miles, rally-ed, and went another 250+ miles back home. No problems at all. So why not keep the turbo? [HTi]Johnson
  13. Woh woh, I'm lost. He asked if he can take the Hyrdo lifters and put them on a non hydro head? (In place of adjustable rocker arms?) ..I was thinking about that...so is it possible? [HTi]Johnson
  14. Hey, have no clue how to help you..but I know others do...I just wanted to say WELCOME TO THE BOARDS! [HTi]Johnson
  15. All right. Gear ratios between AT and MT are different. AT is 3.7 and MT is 3.9. No matter if D/R or not.The axles...they should work between AT and MT, unless it's turbo, I believe the outter splines are different on turbos. So when you do yuo swap, you'll need to get a 3.9 rear differential... I've done a swap from AT to 4spd D/r in an EA81, and I am planning a AT to 5spd D/R swap next week in my turbo GL-10. OH yeah, the rear drivelines are different between AT and MT. You'll need that too. A list of what I think you'll need: Tranny Flywheel,Clutch set Tranny crossmember 3.9 Rear Diff Rear Driveline Center Console Pedal assembly(Clutch Pedal) Clutch Cable Shift lever and Dual range selector ALL hardware (DiD I miss anything?) You might be lucky and find someone with all this stuff in the subaru marketplace. PM me if you have any questions. Welcome to the boards, fellow oregonian [HTi]Johnson
  16. I believe 10mm Diameter and 1.25 pitch...length shouldn't matter, if it's a nut you thread in then put a bolt on. Welcome TO the boards.
  17. Is there a difference in Head gaskets for a turbo and non turbo 1987 GL-10.
  18. Goodmorning everyone. Happy new year. This morning I just discovered a leak under my car(1983 GL Wagon). It's accumalating on the crossmember and dripping down to the ground. I checked the heater hoses, and the two main hoses for leaks...nothing. It seems to be coming from the bottom of the engine. Some guy said something about "Freeze plugs" in the engine of other makes of cars. Is this true with Subarus? Has anyone else had this problem? COuld a Head Gasket blown on the edge of a coolant line and the outside of the head? Thanks for your time. [HTi]Johnson
  19. I know you said you've checked everything, how about a fuel filter? I've had vehicles not start and we've tried everything and then replaced the fuel filter...started right up [HTi]Johnson
  20. You didn't mention that you replaced the fuel filter? Did you? If not, you should. You could try disconnecting the battery for about a hour, then hooking it back up.(This will caused the computer to relearn the car.The computer might be used to no air, or something) I've done that (after a tune up, on a toyota)and it started up. Good Luck [HTi]Johnson
  21. I believe 1 is the one closest to the intake. like this engine 1 3 4 2 front of car
  22. You exhaust might be cracked. Do you hear any noises coming from the underneath of you car? like a buzzing or fuzzy noise? If you do, check under the car for any discoloration in the exhaust pipe (blackness). Is you hatch closed all they way?(Dumb question, sorry) How about your trim? Is it worn out? Sorry I couldn't help ya much. Welcome to the board, I'm sure we'll help ya find a solution. [HTi]Johnson
  23. Um I had a ea81 3 AT and did a swap to a manual. Using the same driveline. [HTi]Johnson ____ edit ____ Oh, I'm not sure about turbo, they should be the same. But That's just what I think shoudl be right So yuo did a swap from Auto to manual?
