  1. The setting really was awesome, in every sense of the word. No cathedral in the world could equal the backdrop of the snow covered peaks behind them. ps: Joy isn't the kind to "keep Shawn off the forum" now that they've made it legal and are no longer living in sin
  2. Of course, and we pay for the return shipping as well. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  3. Between the EJ22 and EJ25 engines, there are only 2 differences: a 4 qt oil pan or a 4.5 qt. oil pan. (Which, btw, are interchangeable). The 4 qt has a rounded bottom, the 4.5 qt. has a squared-off bottom. Either will work just fine. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  4. All of the lifters used in EJ22 engines from '90-on are identical, even in turbo engines. No compatibility problems. One note: if you decided to go with roller rockers, you would also need to switch to roller cams: different profile. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  5. I must put some feedback in here: Mal, the reason you haven't been contacted yet is that Rick (the owner and best diagnostician) injured his back very badly in January and has not been able to work consistently since then. (It's hard to work when your legs and feet are so numb that you can't walk.) Yes, we are aware. Yes, we are trying to diagnose the problem. Yes, we stand behind our work. I hope that he will be able to be in the office Monday or Tuesday, will be able to check this out further and offer his advice. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  6. '95 was the first year of the EGR port on an EJ22 engine. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  7. Try Performance Radiator. They have a website. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  8. The other very obvious thing you are overlooking is that the radiator itself is clogged. Subaru radiators tend to corrode from the inside > out. At that kind of mileage, it's time for a new radiator anyway. (No recore: not very effective on Subarus.) No flow through the rad would account for different temps at the hoses. Sorry. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  9. If it's one of the new style steel separator plates, you need to rough up the sealing edge. The new ones are awful! Use some steel wool, then clean it well. Otherwise, the sealant will literally not stick to it very well. Permatex UltraGray 599 IS anaerobic RTV and fume free. You can spend more for the newer stuff if you like, but honestly...IMHO it's no better than the 599.
  10. There are several things that have to match up: Left cam sprocket Crank sprocket EGR PCV valve seating (either screws into block or has hose that goes over it) The cam and crank sprockets must match or the car will NOT start. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  11. The guy who used to turn cranks for Ridge Reamer now works for Area Machine. They do very good work. As for someone who "doesn't recommend" us, I guess you can't please everyone, though we sure try. Most who don't are old competitors from 15 years ago or so as far as I know. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  12. This info should be in your owners manual. Look under "Specifications". Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  13. I'm going to second coolant temperature sensor. It's located on the coolant crossover pipe on top of the block, under the intake manifold. Kind of a ***** to get at. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  14. If you're losing oil without any other good explanation. No leaks, no blowby, no seeps from valve covers. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  15. That right rear o-ring is a common issue and an easy fix. Those are 12mm bolts. Take them out, clean off the cover, CAREFULLY replace the o-ring (it goes on the cover itself) and replace. About a 15 min. job if you've never done it before.
  16. Remember, the turbo is lubricated by the engine oil. High oil consumption = low lubrication to the turbo. Most common cause of that kind of oil consumption, all else being ok: Bad PCV valve. A $12 part that causes so many engine failures because dealers tend to overdiagnose issues. If they can't find it on a scanner, it doesn't exist. A bad PCV valve won't show up on a scanner because it's mechanical. My bet is that if he had changed the PCV valve early he would have saved himself $10,000!! Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  17. The tranny cooler lines would have to have been disconnected also to do the head gasket job. I wouldn't be surprised if they forgot to reconnect them, or didn't connect them properly. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  18. I recommend you also have the radiator tested. ANY kind of stop leak in a Subaru is not a wise decision. The most common result is clogging of the radiator. IF the radiator is clogged, and IF the system gets burped correctly, and IF you used a Subaru Genuine thermostat, it's possible that by now the headgaskets are also leaking. That would depend on how often and how badly the car overheated. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  19. Another possibility: oil pressure sending unit? small crack in right breather hose? Just thinking... Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
