  1. Your tires need to be balanced. And you probably could use an alignment too. What you're describing are typical symptoms. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  2. Its the slow season at CCR so we are cleaning up the shop and some of the parts and such that are lying around. In addition we are also offering 2 day shipments! That means if you order one of our engines it will ship out 2 business days later. Normally our special order engines are a 2 week wait! http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZccrengines If an engine you need isnt on our Ebay auctions please email or call us. ccrinc@aol.com or 303-293-9230. Thanks, Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  3. It's easier to eye-ball the cams to tell if they are roller rocker or not. Roller rocker cams: all lobes are equal width. Non-roller: middle lobe on each side is wider. Obviously wider. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  4. You said it was hard to start before when it was cold. Sounds like the coolant temperature sensor to me. Located on the coolant crossover pipe under the intake manifold. Of course, after sitting for a year, the other things are worth checking too. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  5. A leak-down test will provide more accurate information on worn rings than a compression test. Worn valve stem seals could also be the culprit or both could be involved. What kind of mileage Ed? Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  6. I know, I know...it's in the wrong place! Sue me. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  7. Yep, that's why we call it the "Secret Bolt". Use Permatex Ultra Grey 599. Great stuff, available almost anywhere. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  8. Did you find the "hidden" one way deep in what looks like a water jacket on the bottom right (I think) side? You can't see it without looking inside there. You need to shine a flashlight in those areas to find it unless you know it's there. We've played this trick on noobs in our shop a zillion times. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  9. As Ron White says, "You can't fix stupid!" Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  10. What would probably go first is the transmission. I've gotten up to around 80mph in my daughter's old Loyale 3spd wagon and I felt I was pushing it pretty hard. Plenty of power left, but not worth the trouble if we broke down in the middle of Wyoming at midnight Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  11. We've got a couple rods in our shop that are twisted worse than that one! Also a block that came from a local dealer out of a new car that went 70,000 miles with no oil changes! You name it, we've seen it. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  12. $85-120 depending on where you live and from whom you get one. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  13. We highly recommend AGAINST using any oil that has a high paraffin or sulphur content (Pennzoil, Quaker State, Havoline, etc.) They are fine for US engines or even a straight 4/6, but not horizontally opposed engines. The paraffin and sulphur have a tendency to pool in the cylinders, causing the oil rings to become unbelievably crudded up. So bad, you can't get them out of the pistons! Castrol GTX is the best on the open market. Subaru Genuine oil filters and NAPA Gold (made by Wix), Wix brand all have the heavier filter elements and check balls necessary for EA engines to have the extra oil protection on start up. Just my .02. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  14. Sweeeet! I love my SVX. '92 LSi, complete touring package. Yep, it had a bad tranny when we got it too. Imagine that. Put a Transgo shift kit in there. Helps the tranny last longer and gives much better response. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  15. Hey, I know the engines better than battery brands. :-\ I do know that this one is great! Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  16. I have a deep cycle gel battery in my Turbo Legacy. (AGM possibly, I forget). It's about 3 yrs old now, and even with the bad winter we had last year here in Denver, it's a great powerhouse! Planning on getting another one when the SVX battery starts to give out. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  17. Went from hydraulic lifters to solid in '97. There may have been a piston change too, but not sure. If there was, it certainly wasn't anything radical. Otherwise, they're identical as far as the engines themselves are concerned. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  18. Nope. Different again. Sorry. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  19. As an SVX owner, those pix just about made me sick! So sorry. Suzam is sooo right: I used to work for a back clinic. Whiplash and such can cause pain for a lifetime if not properly treated. My neice can attest to that. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  20. See listing under Subaru Stuff listed in Craigslist/Ebay. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  21. Yeah, I kinda wondered about a meet in Brooklyn, NY! Emily
  22. Brooklyn?! Brooklyn what planet?! Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
  23. I'm not sure this was a recall: it may have only been a TSB. Either way, the time period has lapsed on doing that fix for free. You used to be able to get the kit for about $7 but I think that price is history too. I do believe they are still available from dealers because the SPFI engine was sold through '94. Junk yard's your best bet. (Oh, and replace the PCV valve with a Genuine one at the same time.) Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
