so are new shocks out of the question? has anyone tried something that didnt come from a subaru?
-
specifications on the vehicle drivetrain would be neccessary to correctly assess the malfunction with the vehicle. i assume that a swap to manual was not in order previously unless it was owned and sold by another board member. i see no others that would do something to that nature unless they truly appreciated the svx to the point of where they would join this board to admire other subarus. in any case, the gears slipped, and a rebuild is probably necessary. just assumtions, however.

im doin an ickle bit o' research on those shocks/susp. that adjust in height by cranking a bolt or something (dont know much on it... why im researching, duh). couple questions needing answers: how much are they $? has anyone ran these on soobs? how easy are they to set up? how do they work? where can i get them? are they dependable/worth paying the big bucks for them? what im looking for is some way to lift my subaru (not too much) when off roading and lowering it back down a bit for the road so i dont jack up my driveshaft/joints. i will give a bum a penny for every reply i get. thanks, skeet

... ... dang, wish my car was up to your trip standards, roo. many of those things are on the list of things to do to my car, but i still have to keep this my daily driver as well. i cant go on any of those but the easy sissy runs. oh well. plans still open fer anyone else. -
heh, my folks told me that any car that i get for under 2 grand must be completely shot to hell... whelp, proved them wrong.

Is this anyone that we know?
SubaSkeet replied to bajavwnsoobnut's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yeah, i saw that on the carsdomain.com site. interesting... -
yeah, those skinny biotches probably walked their light arses home, too... because theyre too 'good' for a car as reliable as a sube. want some advice? keep the car and the next time you see those hollywood-wanabe britney spears-sympathizing the-only-thing-big-on-me-is-my-imitation-ug-boot girls spray 'em with some good ol fashioned gutter water. howz some mud with your triple decaf mocha latte's, skanks? whoo, that was fun to say.

Cooling System/Overheating
SubaSkeet replied to Patrick's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
sounds like a thermo. cheap fix. but what do i know? do a search on the forum for "a/c" or "coolant" and you'll find dozens of threads on it. oh yeah, welcome to the best subaru site ever. -
now, there is another type of car we're forgetting here... the pimp ride. THIS is the one with the really nice interior, lowered body, tinted windows, and extras beyond belief. this is the official 'my ride is better than your ride' car. or truck. some people in their posts are confusing 'riced' with 'pimped'. a couple people on this board have pimped their rides out, such as GravelRX, Subaru_Styles, and probably more that im leaving out. 91loyale's on his way to a fine pimpmobile. and i think if you can do that to a subaru, more power to ya. i think we've defined ricers in the previous posts to be/have: Obnoxiously large spoiler nasty sounding exhaust (with no evident pwr boost) hood painted diff. color from body lowered till it drags japanese-made cars (usu. hondas) pimp rides are/have: lowered a good amount, yet not scraping metal... or plastic hydraulics/air lifts single color paint job plush/fuzzy interior enormous value in their i.c.e. and extra equipment dubs american-built cars (caddys for the pimp daddys) lets not mix the two, eh?

Cooling system HELP!! '92 Loyale BAFFLING!!
SubaSkeet replied to asdf56's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
negative on the turbo. reg. loy '92 ea82 spfi. yes, just got this replaced not three months ago at a shop, so i couldnt screw it up i'll get back to you on that si mi amigo as far as i know. if not i rode all the air out. unless there's clogging somewhere in the hoses or rad. not to my knowledge. will check. morgan: the reason im doing the sti scoop is because i have a huge dent right in the middle of my hood, so the 'airflow' would only be a byproduct of the hood ornament, should there have been any flowage. gracias both of yall for the help. -
:dead: :dead: :dead: :dead: :dead: :dead: :dead: ....what have you done to the brat... :-\

DEFINITELY agree on the beetle... but only a new age one. those are for feminine sides only. the old ones are for people that cant afford nicer cars, and havent found any subarus. i see a lot more guys than girls in miatas. any guy with a convertible is either having a midlife crisis or is a doctor of some sort. i can see outbacks as being the rugged lady's car, which is more seen as butch than just an outdoorsy person. oh well, if you dont get the car cuz you think people will think you're lesbo, you're the one missing out. at least lesbos go places:rolleyes: . subarus, or anything w/ serious off roading capabilities, is not seen as a feminine vehicle period. sure, some girls drive huge trucks while their husbands drive hyundai sonatas, but they sure dont go on the dirt with them. i think that any girl that is willing to get dirty in their car (or even rallyx) is better than some prissy mall rat driving a red mustang convertible that their daddy bought for them. i guess same goes for guys, too. yeah, i ranted.

first car in the tread: definitely a ricer, for it had the hood painted a different color than the rest of the car. the impreza, however, despite its semi-ricer look, is fairly attractive as far as street cars go. im sure it can smoke the stock by far. it is all one color, and a car paint - not just primer. IMO sleepers are truly the best. sure, you want your car to look good, but if it was stock and had all that stuff in there, thats when you really can get enjoyment from racing the nonbelievers.

just saw an older convertible ea81 model in pristine condition on the street. how rare are those, and how much would they be worth? when i say perfect, i mean jaguar perfect. thats what i thought it was before i saw the old school emblem.

Cooling system HELP!! '92 Loyale BAFFLING!!
SubaSkeet replied to asdf56's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
got a similar cooling problem, only difference is it heats up to almost red even when just cruising at approx. 85-90 mph on freeway for no more than 15 mins. rpms at that speed are about 4000-4500, rad. and cooling fan working correctly. could the coolant not be getting circulated? checked the engine w/ a laser temp. reader, and reads about 210 degrees after driving around for a while (almost near the red at some points), so its probably not the therm. any ideas? also, how much of a cool down would i get if i mounted a wrx sti hood scoop on it? crap, sorry for hijacking thread. delete if necessary. -
autozone is my new toys r us...
SubaSkeet replied to SubaSkeet's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
'tis where i bought my oil filter before, also subaru-specific parts usually came from there (timing belts, etc.). henderson, although only 10 miles away, takes from 30 mins to 2 hours to get there, depending on traffic. its crazy far. findlay's all for newbies in their wrx's, tho. no respect for the old. -

youre right about it being a basic store, nothing too fancy in there. but for the little problems, between autozone and walmart there is everything i need to do routine maintenances, as well as dress up my car a bit. next week's purchases will be seat covers.... thats all i can think of right now. maybe a can of paint. i really do wish i had a subaru shop close by, or at least a napa. vegas is fresh out of both. well, there could be a napa, but its probably on the other side of the valley. being as tho i got a little bit of time left in the day, im gonna redo my muffler. that i got from autozone. for 15 bucks. yay. is there any way to hang my muffler without welding it? could i put a chain in between the rubber braces to keep it from falling? -
gosh i love that place... got every single thing i need is found there. i just got an air filter, baja offroad lights, a haynes manual, motor oil, steering wheel cover, and degreasing soap. nothing too pricy, and theyll always order up something i need if they dont have it in stock. alright, changing my gear oil. any last suggestions?
