  2. yeah still a few things that need to be done like i need to make the fuel pump work on its own rather then an alligator clamp on the positive side of the battery make it so the tires stop going flat (leaking from the bead) but other then that im basicly ready for winter in my little 4x4

  4. rebuilt the carb and took it for a drive talk about a gutless wonder thing can barly get out of its own way but i love it lol
  5. tore the carb apart it was digusting i also drained the fuel tank because there was water and old fuel in it so with a rebuild and fresh fuel it should be good to go
  6. so im curious why do you need to run the same motor ? are you going for complete resto? is is there some mechanical reason you you need to run a 1400

  8. carb rebuild kit on the way i was very tempted to pull the weber 32/36 off of my 610 just to drive it but decided against it considering i cant take my only running car apart untill this one is reliable so ill rebuild the carb and run it this winter then then next summer when the datsun has its twin side drafts on it the subi will get the weber i must say i love rockauto.com even with shipping the parts are still cheaper then the parts houses

  10. thanks man yeah i love this little car i cant wait to drive it ok started out today but cleaning the head mating surface dad prying out the valve seals passenger side pistons drivers side yes she needs a good seafoaming torquing down the heads assembled the stair-down proof i did more then take pictures lol empty up....... ......and in running video of the quiet valves the timing and the dwell as well as the carb settings are way off its getting tuned tomorrow threw the air filter on it to see how its gonna look
  11. alright i got off work today after working 8 days straight and dug into the subi first i painted the valve covers and air filter used a silver base coat and anodized blue paint then i got really busy for about an hour O_o end of the night tomorrow i finish painting the air filter stuff and put it all back together with new gaskets and a new clutch
  12. clutch came in today i tore the valve covers off and checked to see if the cam was flat spotted and its not come thursday it will be on like donkey kong edit ************ty cell pics lol clean(er) engine head gasket set clutch kit
  13. i might just do that i wasent going to pull the pil pan off just gonna put some new head gaskets in it but after i do that damn near the entire engine will be resealed
  14. gasket set came in only thing it was missing was an oilpan gasket O_o valve seals everything and for 20 bucks cheap insurance
  15. thats easy to fix change the seat or the steering wheel and your done
  16. im looking to get about an inch of lift all the way around the front is easy but the rear is what has me curious can i reindex these torsion bars to get about an inch of lift out of it? i know vw guys and datsun truck guys lower or raise there trucks/ cars like this but how would it work in the rear of the subi?
  17. well i bought some degreaser at ace and went to town on the engine its clean now well cleaner parts should be here tuesday and my next day off is thursday so the clutch will be done as well as head gaskets then its time to drive it

  19. alright guys there are so many hoses on this thing anyone have a picture or 2 of how everything is supposed to be routed? i want to make sure its all set up right so that i can properly tune this thing once i get the engine back in it as you know its a 78 ea71 non cat car
  20. parts are in the way so hopfully next week it will have a new clutch and head gaskets (cheap insurance) and then all it would need is reg and its ready to go
  21. i found one on rock auto that im gonna get as well as a head gasket set figured i might as well do it while its apart
  22. hey man my new wagon came with a ea-71 1600 short block that i would be willing to part with to help get this thing going if you had a clutch disk or some other parts i can use ill trade it to ya
  23. thanks biffanyus yeah i have a passion for cars i love working on them and this one is an awesome find i was just gonna make it a beater but after seeing how nice it is i want to keep it as clean as possible still gonna be my little rally wagon but im gonna take care of it not beat it into the ground went to work on it today headed to my parents place and they werent there so i waited while i waited i busted out the polishing compound and got this as a result on the left you can see what was polished and the right isnt done yet almost brand new paint then i started on the clutch radiator out disconnect some stuff and its out hard to tell from the pic but this disk is hammered i have some cleaning in my future and thats where work stopped due to having the wrong clutch disk
  24. im so glad i picked this thing up not only do i have brakes after bleeding them but i took some polishing compound ot the paint and its like brand new
