i dont know about the later carbs but my 79 has mechanical secondaries i know datsun used vacuum secondaries and it sucked either way ive messed with 2 hitachis and hated them both there downdrafts are meant for smog and mileage so they suck for performance and drivability
-
i noticed that my little 1600 seems to lack power but had enough to climb some steep ************ should be better with the weber carb i have it kinda reminds me of an oversized quad
-
what limitations have you guys run into while wheeling with a stock set up? ive discovered that even for mild stuff (fire roads quad trails) ground clearence is an issue (obviously) anyone else notice other things that need attention when off the road? got pics of a stocker in the dirt? heres a video of my stocker climbin a hill http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNj3V...D0E&lf=mh_lolz

ive had my car since september and ive had to take my hitachi apart 3 times once to rebuils once you replace the base so that i got rid of vacume leaks and yesterday to clear out the power valve these carbs are junk they were from the factory same goes for my datsuns stock downdraft the weber improved everything on the datsun im expecting the same for the subaru

bonvo replied to Lachlan's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
why not just change transmissions you would get a 5 speed dual range and the selector where you want it -
