  1. have had ishues with aftermarket axle nuts having to big of outside diamiter and not tightening up proper theese nuts are about 5\16 bigger and look like some kind of mazda or honda junk they fit but do not titen up properly on hub after about 2000kms the axle works loose and damages the inside of the hub as it gets loose in berring [warnig do not install theese nuts if its not the same as what came off dont use it will save some big problems] have had 4 or more thiss year mostly rebiuld axles
  2. all twin cam but most jdm used hydrolic lifters but still interferance the 96 2.5 used the same valve train if heads are wreaked hydroic to hydrolic solid to solid you can tell if it has a valve addjustment spec on under hood sticker or not
  3. check out put of alt should be 14.20 no less than 13 ever and be carfull dont fry your ecu alternator is computer contored and dose not like voltage spikes like taking batt cable off when running not good idea
  4. i did it and looks good a bitt thin around the barrel but will work for race engine now we plane the bugger down a bitt and get a short stroke 2.3 out of it or phase two rods and make a stroker 2.5 out of it i will biuld it and run it very hard c if it fails
  5. one more note the valves on the engine i just did where very tight had to open up the clearance a bitt seem to like the exhaust a bitt loose 0.25 mm exhaust and 0.15 mm intakes but all valves had to be reset its nice to be able to take heads off plane them and reinstall with no down time will try and get vidio of head planer in action for thiss thread its interesting to c how bad some heads are and blocks i c more warp and low spots on blocks than heads last block took 3 thow to clean up and barrels where definaty lower than rest of block by about 1-2 thow
  6. race buggy got 14 kms on five gallons at 6500 rpms 2.5 single cam turbo atoumatic with two gears 1rst and 2nd couldent get over a 100 and keep it under control
  7. check the fuel fillter out if it gets pluged a bitt it make the pump run at higher presshure and it will get bad milage idling around because it runs to high of preshure low rpms and not enuff on high rpms makes the milage suck
  8. dont worry today is headgasket job # 5 thiss week all day evry day doing a 04 with 120000km when i planed the head could see the low spot on the # 4 and #3 holes on bottom corers i took pics of evry pass with planer you can realy see the problem spots on the first 3 passes total of about 2 thow to clean up whould have never worked unless planed and yes if its not a brown seal pitch it in the dirt and i use avinic form a gasket coating on evry head gasket
  9. check that the pan is not bashed there is very little clerance between the oil pickup and the pan it gets pushed up and starves for oil but gets just enuff to stay alive
  10. have found that the piston slap is created when the drilled oil holes in the piston plug up there are 4 small holes behind the oil ring if they plug the piston gets no cooling oil and wheres down the side
  11. i put toyata pu front brakes on rear have big rotors and 4 piston calipers works good put them on my subaru mud dragster works so well was able to ditch the front brakes
  12. one two three at a time dam subarus cheapy china head gaskets 160 km 150 km 180 km all same oil leak on drivers side
  13. far as i know subarus did not come to canada till 75 neat to c older ones did not know they were in usa
  14. bett not many people know that you can put a ej 2.0 piston right into a ea81 engine just have to remove the rod piston pin bushing
  15. check the anti backfire circut likes to mess up valve and create internal vacum leack
  16. comes strait out of ecu to cluster may branch off to cruise but is ereavant to opperation check for dash power and ground there is a fuse just for cluster sounds like spedo is speed sensor tip heat the side of trans gentaly buy sensor to soften factory lock tight befor trying to remove sensor will save greif sometimes is very hard to remove
  17. get a su carb from a volvo it is a slider carb and is super simple and addjustable think they were used on mgs and stuff like that i think a 125 should be close we have used thesse carbs of stuff like that works well have to make an addapter u can tune the carb with oil wheight
  18. if its under 200 hp just leave it out if you have to should not have a problem unless is a ea81
  19. has anyone out there borred a 2.2 up to a 2.5 it look very close was going to bore one today and c whats left looks close to a .50 over 2.2 piston i have set my boring bar just for doing subaru engines.

  21. heres a trick dich the stupid gasket and use grey sillacon like they do on newer engines then u only do it one time the gaskets like to leak
  22. u can sub in a headlight relay in place oops sorry heavy black and red and heavy orange(red) and yellow I have the whole harnass on the ground if you need any more answers
  23. i only use the brown seal from subaru there are no replacement of equal quality i whould trust i've used some ugly cranks with no leaks ever
  24. anyone mud drag race a subaru out there ?
