maybe you do have a leak and you just can't see it because gas tends to evap quickly. Maybe it was from some POS in front of you? Pop your hood and light a match while the car is running. This will pinpoint the leak....and get you a new car. Please don't do that. I wish you luck my friend. Is it a gas gas smell or exhaust like smell?

I was thinking about trying to weld up a cat delete pipe for my 90 legacy wagon. It is hollow as it is but I believe this is the reason I am loosing some of my performance and it sounds like sheeot. Has anybody ever done one or know of a sho that has? Doesn't look that hard if you have the tools available. (pipe notcher, pipe bender, pipe expander, saw and torch) I have none of these tools and only know how to use a few (worked at Midas when I was much younger) so if anyone has any thoughts please feel free to send it my way. I was thinking about getting a system like mine from the salvage yard and making a jig to hold it while I try to moddify it. That way none of the demensions change. I want to hear what the Roo public has to say....

Let me start off by saying that I had to re-install the timing belt tensioner a few days ago. My stupid self forgot to put the hose on for the overflow tank. Well today when I went to go on a two hour trip the car overheated about a mile out. I turned the heat on, hauled butt home, reattached the hose, put more fluid in it and it was fine or so I thought. I get to my destination with no problem but on the return trip the car did the same thing about a mile out again. I stopped and noticed the overflow tank was full so I filled the radiator with water (burp screw off) then drove back home with no problems again. What gives? Anybody have any ideals?

I would look on ebay and see if anyone is selling an OEM Subaru system that was made for your car. They are plug-and-play. I am not sure what you mean by VCD but I am going to assume you mean some sort of video system. If you know your way around the 12volt system I wouldn't worry about it too much. Remember...measure twice, cut once. Monitors are easy. I have done some insane installs so I know it can be done if you put your mind to it and use all available rescources. www.the12volt.com is a usefull place for car audio nuts. If you buy an OEM unit from Subaru it might already have this feature. If not you could be looking at a small challenge trying to get it to work with your OEM system. On the other hand you could do it all yourself. I would reccomend an Alpine or DEI alarm with remote start. That way everything works like it is supposed to. They come with detailed instructions. Do your homework and then dive in head first. Good luck. I will be here if you need any other answers. Greg (ex-installer) I'm a computer geek now!

I posted a threat (LOL!! I meant thread) in the meet and greet section just for floridians but nobody responded. It says something like FL subarus transform and roll out...soon. I would like to get a large turnout. Maybe if I have help it will be a pretty big one. -

So when are all the Fl Roos going to get together? I will be coming to Orlando this weekend. I am always traveling the stat and would love to meet other Roo owners. I'm not an old schooler but my 90 legacy is pretty crusty. (still have CO tags and have been here for months) -

Most likely he will be at Patrick Air force base on AIA in satellite beach. You bringing a roo? If so lets go wheelin in the sand. Screw the turtles. -
Worse cme to worse you could run a wire from your battery (-) to points under your dash and various places to see if a certain spot makes your problem go away. Check under the hood on the radiator support and around there. There are numerous grounds in this area that relate to the lighting system. Best of luck.

I found myself looking at engines for my 90 legacy on ebay and came across this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33615&item=7931585427&rd=1 Will this bolt and plug right up or are we talking major work? Can I leave the tranny in the car when pulling the engine or does it have to go to? it is AWD auto.

The darn timing belt tensioner fell off sometime today on my 90 legacy wagon. I heard this funny noise (belt slap) coming from under the hood while it was still in the driveway so I got out to investigate, popped the hood and to my dismay the timing belt tensioner was just sitting there between the belt and the block. WTF!!! You mean to tell me all 4 bolts just happened to wiggle out of the block!! It's going back on and it's getting loc-tite this time. Has anything like this ever happened to anyone else? Should I do the timing belt before I put it back on? I don't know when the belt was done last but I can tell you the marks on the belt are gone. Anybody have any timing belt tips? For installation that is.

If your car is an AWD your trannt shares the fluid with the transfercase so not only are you harming the tranny.... Use a good gear lube. I get a gallon of the stuff from the parts store and get a pump while I am at it. The pump has a tube attached to it so all you have to do is put the tube in the hole and pump it. Check around for the fluid capacity of the tranny/TC. On the side of the Geare lube bottle it says how many quarts are in there, use this to put in the right amount of fluid. This way you do not have to keep sticking the dip stick in and out and getting fluid everywhere. Use the dipstick at the end for final measure. Hope this helps.

Replace the drives seatbelt motor/track. Buy this stuff call "flitz" on TV it comes with a buff ball and it is supposed to restore headlight covers. I use a degreaser and let it sit on their for a few seconds and then wipe off with a rag. Then rinse completly. Not perfect but better. I do not know what you are driving but I am going to assume your oil leak is from the front of the engine. Most likely an oil pump seal. Is it coming from the front of the bloc between your oil pump (middle of block in the front) and water pump (drivers side of block front). If so you might need an oil pump seal. This requires taking off the timing belt and tensioner. Pretty much any leak in the front is going to require removal of the timing belt. If you do not feel comfortable doing the work yourself you might want to take it to the dealer or a gooood mechanic. If it is in the rear it is a rear main seal. Hope this helps.
