If I am not mistaken you can ask Subaru for a maint log so you will know when to bring it in and for what. Your engine is a non-interferance engine. I am not sure about the 2.5's but the 2.2's are supposed to get a new timing belt every 60K mi. The chain is news to me. Maybe someone else can chime in and give you better advice.

Hmmmm. I am pretty sure it was a plug and play module...correct. My suggestion to you would be to find a wiring diagram and use a test light to see if there is power coming from the parking flash wire. Maybe a dead fuse? I do know some alarms have the siren disable feature but I have never heard of one that lets you disable the lights. Hope this helps a little.

What you can do to your car all depends on what you have as a stereo and how much talent you have. If you have a Subaru Factory head unit with the DIN (round) plug in the back, then you could try to find an OEM (subaru stock) CD player that was sold as an option with your car. It will bolt up in place of the pocket (slot under your radio) and plug in with no problem. If you have an after market deck of any kind then your options are as follows. 1. If you have a good head unit with CD changer controls then you can buy a CD changer that was made by the same maker as your head unit. (panasonic to panasonic, sony to sony.....etc) Always contact the maker before purchasing a changer so you know which model will work with your unit. 2. If your aftermarket head unit does not support a plug-and-play changer, you can purchase a changer with a built in FM modulator that will broadcast the music from your CD's on a designated FM station. These are real easy to install. 3. You could buy a head unit with a CD player and install it yourself. Hope this helps, Greg

I used to have a pair of those Kicker 12's (stillwater audio) and a pair of orion XTR's in my nissan pickup and it was loud! I was using 2 older fosgate punch 150's bridged. They don't make them like they used to. They are made good but great comes with a large price tag. I miss the old PPI and soundstream amps.

I know we do alot of talking on here about how to maintain our vehicles but it is not often that we talk about the extras we put into them. Some of you know that I used to be a car audio installer turned computer geek so I for one like to hear about everyday people and their rides. Got something "cool" in or on your ride....tell us. Better yet show us. I bougt (2) 12" Pioneer IMPP woofers in a box ($20.0) and a legacy ($5.00) 800 watt amp over the weekend and installed it in my Legacy. Let me tell you it pounds sooooo hard that I have to adjust the rearview mirror every 3 seconds. I am running a Panasonic MP3/WMA CD/AM/FM/Sirius SAT headunit w/remote. Whats in your Roo?

Is there a Valet mode? Do you know where the "brain" is? If so go ahead and pull all the fuses you can find attached to it. If you have a starter kill then it will be a little bit harder. If this is the case just find where the brain wire meets your starter wire off the ignition and bypass it by removing the wires and putting the two wires back togetehr so they form one. Use a wire nut. Any more questions please feel free to ask or check out www.the12volt.com

Sounds like the seals in the tranny are going. I used to have this problem on a nissan. It would buck like crazy through most of the gears untill it was up to temp and then it would stop. I took it to my local AAMCO (friend owned it) and he told me it needed what was called a "banner" service. He did mine for free but they usually cost about $1,200.00 You might want to try to replace your filter and fluid before going the repair route. When adding new tranny fluid be sure to add an additive like Lucas tranny to it. Go from there.

Some tire places use a soapy water mixture to aviod ripping the tire when applying it to the rim. Some use the jelly you speak of. It is just a little thinner than bearing grease. Have you pullid the rim off and stuck it in water to try to find out where it is leaking from? That would be the first thing I do. Maybe there is a crack in the alloy? Hope this helps.

If you purchase a new timing belt you will notice it had timing markls on it. Make sure that you have the belt on properly though. I have seen some people put them on backwards and wonder why the marks do not line up. Yes you will need to C-clamp the tensioner. Take it reaaaaaal slow as to not over compress it too fast. If you do it will kill it and they are not cheap. Once you get the marks to line up and the tensioner on you will then notice that the timing marks on the shroud no longer line up with the notches on the cams...don't worry about it. While you have the belt off go ahead and replace the oil pump seals and I would reccomend doing the water pump while it is off as well. Here is a list of things you should consider (should) replacing while you have the timing cover/belt off: Belt idler pulleys crank, cam, oil pump seals Water pump Check the tensioner to see if it faulty while you have it off. Tip: I put white-out on the timing marks for better visibility. This should get your buddy those much desired Subaru High milage points. I do not believe the car will start if you do not have the cam timing dead on because there is a pick-up in the gear. (I could be wrong) Josh will let me know if I am wrong. I used to live in the Valley. We partied like a MOFO up on the hill! They don't call it Scarycuse for nothing. I will be up there around this time next year for my 10 year reunioin. Maybe I could show you what a REAL high milage Roo looks like. Sometimes I miss living there. Things were so much simpler then. (day dreaming with head in hands, elbows on desk...clouds...Gannons Isle milk shake...bragggers wings...my friends....doing doughnuts in the parking lot of the P&C on S. Salina after it snowed...working at the pizza hut in Nedrow) Look what you started! LOL

I wish someone would have told me that a long time ago. I would have done that instead of hacking my system. What years will fit? How much modification needs to be done? I think I am going to run catless but use a good muffler like a flow master. Maybe I will make it sound like a lawn mower (rice burner) you hear flying down the streets of america.

It's nice to see Syracuse is in the house! I gratuated from Corcoran High Shcool back in 95. Where in the scary do you live? I have a 90 legacy and I did a timing belt on it so if you have any questions feel free to shoot me an e-mail. You answer my stupid questions and I will answer your real questions.

If you look at the headers (manifold) and the cat you will notice that if the cat was gone and the pipes were longer, they would meet at some point. I was going to make what is known as a crossover pipe or a "y" pipe. Basically extend both pipe so that the drivers side meets the passengers side. Then I would notch the pass side and weld the drivers side pipe to it and then attach the pass side to the rest of the exhaust. Basically it would look like a "Y". I have the picture in my head I just don't have to tools to make such a product. If there is a will...there is a way..

I bought an 86 montero on ebay for 200 and I Was thinking of sticking an EJ22 in it for Sheeots and Giggles. it is pretty much the same set-up. It has a driveshaft going to the back and CV axles in the front. Fab up some engine and tranny mounts, exhaust....Shouldn't be that hard. Tons of room under the hood. Maybe put a turbo EJ...who knows. I know what would be SWEEET..a 2JZGTE V6 from a toyota supra. With twin turbos, sheet metal exhaust. Now I am just dreaming.

Good deal. Hey subyluvrr.....care to chime in? Got any suggestions? I want this to be an all-roo crowd. Do you think we should have a year cut off? Do we really want a whole feild full of Stock WRX's that was bought with college fund money or mommy and daddy paid for it? I can umderstand if it tricked out or old...but new stock....blah. Correct me if I am wrong. Besides..most of the new Roo crowd has no clue what the Roo is about. (like it's some car cult)

Sounds good. What days will you be here? Getting a rental? Been here before? I would say to go see the beach but the hurricanes pretty much took those away. Look forward to meeting other roo lovers. -
check ebay for the armrest thing. I saw one there the other day. I believe there is a company out there that is making an iPod dock that will work with your OEM Roo rdio. Plugs into the back where the changer cord would go. Ask around on the board. I am sure Josh would know what I am talking about. Also ask on www.the12volt.com good people over there too. Good luck
