  1. throw some TSL Thornbirds on there. There is a company in South Dakota called High-tech retreading that speacialy makes mud and all-terain tires. A 31 inch mud terrain will run you about $40.00 I bought four of them for my jeep and it was around $200.00 shipped to my door here in FL. Hope this helps.
  2. Go down to the home depot and get a propane (or gas of your choice) tourch and heat that sucker untill it is glowing. Throw an impact socket on it and go to town. Good luck!

  5. I recieved my $60.00 O2 sensor today that I bought from a guy who owns a part store on ebay. He said it was like OEM and he was dead on. I put the high-temp anti-sieze on the threads and tightened it down to 35lbs like it say, plugged it in, cleared the codes, and fired my car up. I drove it around the block and then to wally world and let me tell you there is a huge difference. My exhaust doesn't gag people, I get ok gas milage, and it doesn't idle so bad that it makes me have to use the bathroom every 5 minutes. I have my car back!!! YAY!!! I have a Subaru with hood pins! NO it's not a WRX STi that I rally!

For future reference you might want to consider putting the problem with your vehicle or the issue you would like to address as the title and not your name. For a second I thought it might be spam but considering I am a kind person I opened it up to see if there was an actuall problem. As for your post I can not help you as I drive the best car in the world. A 1990 (fist year of the legacy) AWD Legacy L with the value package. It has the best engine Subaru ever made the EJ22 (next to the EJ22T). I do wish you luck on your car search and hope in the end you get all the answers you need from us and that you get a truely awesome car that you will love for many more miles to come.
  7. WOO HOO! I GOT IT! Saturday January 15th High Noon at the Twistee Treat on Goldenrod Rd in Winter Park, FL. (3000 N. Goldenrod Rd) From I-4 take highway 50 east to Goldenrod road and make a left. It is about 2 miles down on the left. From I-95 Take 520 or 50 into orlando and continue east untill you get to goldenrod road and make a right. 2 miles ahead on the left. I am looking forward to a good turnout and hope to meet some future friends seeing as to how I will either be living in Orlando very very soon or shortly after the meet.   8. We (90-94 Legacy owners) were blessed with the welded on (goofy) cat converter. I found one at www.advanceautoparts.com for around $500.00 made by Borla. This is sweet because it is Borla but besides that is is pretty expensive. Some exhaust shops will fab up a new exhuast with a universal cat for a FEE $$$$$ but none will willingly due away with the cat all together. I gutted my cat and I sorta wish I didn't because it sounds like a can of rocks. I purchased an exhaust manifold from an early model EJ22 imprezza from www.aaronsauto.com for $100.00 plus $15.00 shipping and plan on letting everyone know how it sounds and works when it is installed.   11. Buy it, change the water pump, seals, plugs, wires, all fluids and timing belt and then try to catch up with my milage. Have fun....
  12. I would start by checking all the fuses both under the hood and dash. If that Yields no results have someone stick their head under the hood and listen for the motor. If this fails hotwire the pump to insure that it does work and you can go from there. If all fuses are fine, and both pumps work then I would tunr my attention to the wiper lever on the steering column. Hope this helps.
  13. You need a 15amp fuse like you find in your fusebox under the dash. Hope this helps.
  14. I've had my legacy in some pretty sick places (#4 rated trails in CO) but the one time I got stuck was when I lived in Lakewood, CO and was out wheelin with my cousin at a basin by my house. I was going up these sick hills and through some pretty nasty mud and never got stuck. Then my cousin says, "see if you can get up this hill" as he point so to this innocent looking hill. I never even got to the hill. I ended up getting high centered on a semi-sunk boulder in the mud. After a while of him and I pushing on the car and gunnning the gas...we were free. I lost my passengers side front mud flap to that boulder and my floorboard on that side is about an inch higher now. Stupid rock!!!
  15. I am sure if you go to Borla's website they have a chart or list that says which of their exhausts goes on which cars. Just see if the P/N match. Thats what I would do.
  16. It is safe to buy one on ebay. Jusrt make sure it is an OEM unit and not some knock-off. Once you get it you can find all the help you need at www.the12volt.com
  17. I have a 90 legacy with the same engine and tranny. A few months ago I had to remove the oil pump to install a new O-ring, seal, and tighten the screws in it. I also did the timing belt while I had it off. just be aware that Subaru suggests that you replace the timing belt every 60K miles. I have 238K on mine and it runs great. Enjoy your new Roo.
  18. My 90 legacy does the same thing. It only does it once in a blue moon though. The other day I was at the bell in the drive tru when I noticed it doing it. I would speed up to pull forward then when I would slow down the car would buck. It did this untill I got out on the road and had a chance to get on the gas. It was more like a surge than a buck. I don't believe it is tranny realted because I stuck it in 3rd with the manuall button on (2nd) and it still did it. Hmmmm...
  19. Roos do h eat up prety fast so it doesn't suprise me that yours went from norm to super hot in less than 2 min. Maybe your T-stat is sticking. Wouldn't hurt to replace it and see if that clears it up just make sure you put it in the right way.
  20. If you have OEM power locks then it would be as easy as checking ebay or your local dealer for the plug and play module. If you have non-electric locks then you would have to install actuaters at all doors (and trunk if needed) and wire up a keyless lock module from the manufacturer of your choice. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask. I used to be an installer. Hope this helps.

  22. Take the car to the dealer to have the seals done then tow it home and do the rest yourself. With help from the board you can do it and save. I did.
  23. I own the same vehicle just a 1990 so I hope I can help here. Seeing as how your vehicle has 60K miles you might want to consider a timing belt change. Subaru reccomends they be changed every 60K. As for the transmission filter, there are two on our vehicles. There is one in the tranny (pan removal a must) and there is also one under the hood by the bottom of the radiator on the drivers side. When replacing the fluid in the transmission be sure to unplug one of the lines going to the radiator from the tranny as to be sure to remove all fluid. Don't be suprised if you get something like 8 qts of fluid or more out of your transmission. Makes sure you replace the pan gasket on the tranny as well. I buy my transmission fluid in gallons so it is cheaper. When changing the gear lube in the Transfer case I like to but a gallon of that as well but I get the pump with the long hose from the parts store. This way I just feed the pump into the dipstick neck and pump away untill I have the desired level as indicated by the marks on the side of the bottle. Oil is a no brainer..(I hope). Change the fluid in the rear diff while you are down there. Brakes are easy too. To make it really simple you could head down to your local parts store and pick up a brake bleeding kit. It is a small canister with a lenght of hose and it has a magnet on one side so you can attach it to your vehicle. Affix the end of the hose to your bleeder screw and loosen the screw. Remove the lid from your master cylinder and just be sure to keep adding clean fluid. You will need to empty the canister a few times untill the fluid runs clear. Repeat this procedure at all four corners. DO NOT TOUCH THE BRAKE PEDDLE DURING THIS PROCEDURE! Hpe this helps.
  24. There is a hill in Lakewood, CO that is almost straight up and I would drive by it on a daily basis in my 88 and 79 jeep cherokee and never once did I think of taking it in either vehicle. One day I was out and about in the ROO and I saw this older yota AWD wagon going up the hill like it was an ant pile. Needless to say I showed the crowd at the hill what a real AWD vehicle could do. What made it better was that I had my wife and kids in tha car. She was PO's, my kids were scared....and I was thrilled.
  25. I don't have a cat or an o2 sensor in my vehicle at the moment so when I was on the highway today and got up on the gas and gave it some "power" I left behind a massive smokescreen. That gave e enough time to escape the state trooper in the camaro. (first sentence is true, I don't speed)
