  1. what is your point?you asked if anyone had used them,and we have answered with"yes".are you now going to question why we used them?if we should have used them,or state how bad it is to use them? galvanized ,usually.and if you build a frame,i would make it 1x1 square tubing,not angle iron
  2. i have used a couple of different types of signs for skidplates.seem to work as deflectors pretty well,but not against smashing.(ie...coming down really hard on them.)
  3. no,the aviation cats were the true innovators.and another guy from this board put dual carbs on his ej rally car. i'm just the one taking the glory for not letting people talk me out of it. so, who knows what number i am in the line of innovators,and i am the second on this board.but i have only heard mine run. as far as the exhaust,i just had to.it actually came out really well.

  8. i was going to ask why someone wasn't using a generator of sorts to provide recharge of the battery.why not put some type of fan setup in the front hooked up to some old gm generators through a converter?i have been tossing around the idea for wind power machines,but the application does not matter. i do not pretend to know about any of this.so please bear with my statements.i can read and read and read,but until these hands make it work sometimes it just does not click. and i just keep thinking about how bad rump roast independant suspension would be if you had a motor for every wheel.hmmmm..... cheers, brian

  10. so i have an absolutely amazing cargo cover that i took off of a car last year.cannot remember for the life of me which it is.ea81 or ea82.i am tired of moving it around.are there any specific visual differences?it is from a wagon.i remember that. i cannot take a photo right now.will get to that tomorrow.just thought i'd ask.cheers, brian

  15. i have a spot next to the house that if tarped properly could last a while.and i am about 30 miles away.i cannot bring it to you,as diesel fuel would kill you.however, i do have plenty of time off this time of year .a tow dolly on a nicer day,a nice tarp, would do it for me.we can talk about any type of payment later.i prefer parts though:grin: would be able to get to it directly after the new year.pm me and let me know.cheers, brian
  16. it depends on what type of track you have whether or not they suck in everything but snow and sand.and they would have to be the atv version.much smaller than real version.a guy that i occasionally work with had some on his diesel last year for a deep woods job he was doing.very cool and well built.insane amount of articulation possibility out of them. cheers to those guys for adapting them to their roo.i have so wanted to do that for years now.since some of the last posts about these.i regularly see atv's up near preist lake with these.same folks i think each time.but never talked to them about them.they sure do book through just about everything i see them go through.mud included.and trust me.rednecks like their mud.

  19. i have passed emissions twice with a weberized brat.i simply ran some seafoam through it and drove on the interstate for about ten to fifteen miles before hand to get it nice and warmed up.the base setting s were all that were done to the weber.slightly "tuned" beyond that for elevation.if the car runs strong and does not tend to smoke at all,you should be alright .the biggest problem you will run into with the weber is it running rich.at least that is what i have found.and ed is right on the visual inspection,i have never had them look either.cheers, brian
  20. ok.there is a lip on your backing plate.like it is rolled for dust and dirt protection. which way is that facing for you.inboard or outboard...those lips should be inboard.
  21. read quite a bit about timing.and learn your engine before you take this project on.ie,how it reacts under load and whatnot so that you can revel in the wonders of lpg.
  22. i've carried about 750 pounds in conrete chunks in the back of the brat. i blew out two sets of shocks like that, at least.... i've also carried multiple loads of road base(read ground asphalt)add at least another i've at many times taken chunks of rubber out of tires from rubbing on them while driving. now you know why i bought a big truck>>>>>>:cool:

  24. that "play" you speak of gary is in the 2 piece as well.there is very little motion front and back from suspension movement.the 2 piece will add more clearance.but the one piece is more than suitable as well. the issue people have is not getting the 2 piece driveshaft centered when they mount it to the tunnel.they say that this leads to an amzing amount of vibration.i have driven at more than 80 mph in monstaru and found very little vibration.if a guy takes his time ....mounting the 2 piece can be relatively simple.and if you put a new carrier bearing in before you mount it,you are less likely to feel vibration if you mess up.cheers, brian
