a little better introduction.....my new car.
monstaru replied to monstaru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXit has to pass emissions to transfer title(which means no codes).......to the new owner.so, i rendered it inoperable to get a waiver. and i did not remove the airbag,it was blown in that steering wheel when the previous owner got it.hence the new steering wheel.... our testing over here is all about actual emissions.there are no safety inspections. cheers, brian

a little better introduction.....my new car.
so, as many of you know. i traded Lilly off to a kid just up north here for a lego wagon with a wrx swap in it. the truth of the matter is, the kid probably thought he was taking me .......and i hope that he calls me, like i told him to so that he can get the remainder of the parts i have for his new sweetheart.(and she was too,a ************in sweetheart)... its been more than two weeks since i told him that, so ....whatever. the lego had huge leakage issues , so she was wet inside. almost to the point of having ruined front seats.when i picked her up ,i thought, ok the kid left something wet in here....and he has not driven it for a while ...so......when i was wiping out the inside windows , in almost freezing weather....i was still telling myself that the car itself did not really matter,it was th engine i was after anyway. i had planned on getting this car and using it as a daily driver.but seeing as how i was going to have to fix the codes to get emissions testing done, which is required to swap the title over to my name.......i decided that it may not work out that way.so i started gathering parts, and have a whole bunch now......have figured out that this car has had about 5 or 6 different owners.and that each owner has done some "improvements" to her, to make her a daily driver..... well needless to say, none of the improvements were that......but more of a degradation . enough of my ***************ing.....parts i have gathered so far are an entire 02 wiring harness, so that i can wire it in proper. all original intake and such , so that i can get her back to stock and build from there. some odds and ends for the interior such as door panels, etc(actually, i have yet to pay for the door panels, but have them deep in my sites from a reliable source) i have ripped out all of the nasty carpet, sealed up the windshield(as that is where the water was coming from) and made a mount for the rear wrx seat to fit. bought a wrx fuel tank, becaus eit will mount up, just have to reroute the filler tube.... have also sourced a way to route power steering, just have to flange some pipe to make it work.... so, where do we stand.well, i will be tearing out the entire cars wiring harness to install the wrx harness.so, in full prep mode i went to town identifying the plugs on the harness today.got about 3/4 of the way done. at the same time i am removing the airbag systems. it has a good exhaust on it.i need suspension for it and will be getting some tires for the 17's that i have for her. ummmm....well, i guess you could call this a build.i just want a track car daily driver.so, here we go!enjoy, i will have more pics of what i have done in the next couple days ...cheers, brian

A little Wheelin' in my area
"The thing that breaks stubs is wheel spin.".... this is why i think the system would do great at super slow speeds .wheel hop is inevitable when you have to go fast to accomplish your goals on the trail....it is THE killer. as your lawyer, i highly recommend you t-case that rig,and immediately go bigger.....you should purchase my diffs, give me money for all of the stuff i have in the garage downstairs, and in the side yard.......... then go home and build until you puke......then puke again................. ...:lol:cheers

Legacy/Outback/Forester rear axles
monstaru replied to Phizinza's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXall r160'zs will be the same....whether or not the chunk is bolted , or circlipped is the definitive challenge...... the chunks for the vlsd's are circlipped...the old school clutch pack chunks are bolted, because they had stubs.........and will take the circlip axle, just no way to adhere it to the chunk..... does that make sense? cheers, brian

T case worth it?
i have a subframe already built i'll sell ya for 300.a set of diffs i'll sell ya for another 600. and if you are tired of getting wet, stop driving through water.it's really simple. and if you ************ing payed attention, and searched, you would find pics of the stuff i did last year as well as johns description of how much steel you would need.....in the FAQ , just like chaz said... see, thats my problem with you,you always ask questions that could be found by searching, or are just pretty dumb"what ifs"....... the thing about what ifs....is that if you are eventually going to need the answer to the question you ask,you probably won't ask it.it is borrishly obvious that you do not pay attention to what is going on around you.grow some common sense. sell your subaru, and go back to saabs.or buy somethihng that you can bolt things on to... just my 2 cents.

WTF?this is weird.........
monstaru replied to monstaru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXi am not one to like"creature" comforts. the power steering needs a line extended, and i will not run A/C......i have taken A/C off of every car i have ever owned. and yep......there will be surprises, but someone elses laziness is not of concern to me.i will make it run, pass emissions, and drive it for a while. the plan is to paint the whole car in the spring,,,,or sooner if i can get mugs to help me make a fan set for his garage. bigger than anything, i want to finish the interior.cheers, brian
