  1. Hi again.. I'm going to put an EA81T oil cooler on Skeet's car soon and I'd like some pictures or descriptions of how the EA81T oil cooler mounts on those cars please? I can come up with some brackets of some kind as I don't anticipate it will fit Skeet's EA82 car like it was made to. I was planning on installing the OC right in front of the AC condenser at the bottom but it doesn't look "comfortable" .. vertically is sort of out because the bumper is in the way and would block most of the OC anyway.. so maybe I'll tuck it behind the grille, but I'll take other ideas too.. this is a sandwich style OC that runs lines to a sepatate radiator about 3"x9". thanks!
  2. uhm, i think there's a growl starting in the front tranny mounts have over 200k on them. I haven't checked them or the motor mounts.. how does one check those anyway? i don't think i could wiggle the engine/tranny without shaking the whole car with them ..just jack up the trans a little and remove the crossmember, eyeball the mounts? i can do that. anyplace make poly motor/trans mounts for EA82?

i've heard that some blazer rollbars fit inside EA82 wagons. Haven't investigated though. don't know how well it would tie in with the chassis either?
  4. well, after long last i jacked up the car and crawled underneath. sway bars are tight. shocks/struts and springs didn't have any wiggle. wiggled the tires and got some. seems that the wiggle includes the rotors and hubs too.. wheel bearings all round? aargh. driveshaft had a 1/4 inch play when turning it back and forth before the rear wheels responded. sounded kind of clunky. so should i just replace all wheel bearings and suspension bushings and u-joints? chase it away by throwing parts and money at it? hehe if i'm going to convert to 5 bolt, this be a good time for it, me thinks. opinions?
  5. I've heard it's due to stringent emissions / rust standards in Japan that cause cars to be pulled off the road "early"
  6. how about putting an oil cooler in right before the turbo, in the higher pressure side?
  7. hey chris. that's a cool idea. maybe ask them about making the stock radio more powerful? like a better amp and a stronger radio reciever would be great. and newer tapedeck innards too?
  8. AAARGH I called Brown Bearing in SpoVegas and the guy on the phone listened to the dimensions and gave me a "we'd hafta see it" .. sorry will. next time i'm at the JY i'll see about grabbing one, like this weekendish. How are the bearings attached to the plates? welded to one side, or is there a bracket or ???
  9. some fuel injected cars have more actual fuel lines than carbureted same-model cars.. i don't know if this is the case with a subaru though.
  10. i keep my full size spare (mostly) deflated.. and i have a cigarette lighter powered inflator in the back of the wagon.
  11. i'll call a place in spovegas for you. give me whatever dimensions and specs you'd like me to mention what's a pair of these going to run your average USMB member?
  12. so much for laziness. thanx
  13. the engine i put in skeet's wagon is missing 3 exhaust studs. is there any reason i couldn't use bolts instead?
  14. i'd say more like 5, but it is noticeable. first thing i did to this car; i remembered how much it had helped the last one i had.
  15. *drops a pine cone on skip* Hi Skip.. this car has the RX full time 4WD D/R tranny so no 2WD.. thanks though.. I'm going to check it out this weekend and I'll probably be back in here with an update or more questions
  16. order new intake-to-head bolts from the dealer. put anti-sieze on them before installation. Buy a tap and clean out the threads in the heads. try not to snap off any corroded bolts. and label all the things you disconnect.
  17. cool, thanks. i'll report back when i check it soon.
  18. hello.. My wagon has this clunk that feels rear-endish.. it'll usually do it's thing when i accellerate after shifting up. If I accellerate gently, it won't. I can put the clutch in and not shift, and reproduce it by letting the clutch up quickly enough.. it sounds like something in the drivetrain is catching up some slack somewhere? U-joints maybe?
  19. hello! and welcome you might consider putting a weber carburetor on your car.. http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3338
  20. oh, i misunderstood; i thought you meant it felt as if welded.
  21. i think you should take the pump and reservoir off and put on a pulley from a non PS car... or just loop the lines onto each other and keep a little fluid in there. doesn't the power steering fluid lubricate the pulley in some way?
  22. nice.. i like the engine compartment
  23. hey, that's the weekend skeet and i will be over.. how long in the week do you all plan to stay out?
