Give me faster wipers
rainX doesn't help too much if your windshield has too much wind pitting, but it's a good idea, i know i forget that i have a bottle of the stuff is there a way to put intermittent wipers in a DL brat? will the switch and wiring from an EA82 work?

New CV still a problem
can you still feel this noise? other things to check would be having the E-brake line properly routed around the halfshaft... sloppy control arm bushing, tie rod, or ball joint... tranny low on fluid (doubt that) or, maybe it's time for a brake job! the pads are designed to make noise when they get low.

hey ken...
i would like to get a rollbar for my brat and i'm interested in the long bar type on your silver brat. seems like it might accept a small canvas roof over the jumpseat area. is it a stock subaru bar or where is it from? thanks!

where's the video of the guy at the car show who "VTEC'ed his mustang"? *cell phone rings* hold on, maybe that's my VTEC rep..."

2 questions about power steering
actually you do bleed it. you do this by turning the wheel (medium speed) back and forth between its stops a few times to let any air in the circuit get to the top. (of course the engine has to be running) and it's easier on a loose traction surface.

No BS.
you're not just insane, you're crazy! If I owned such a car as you're describing, Will, I'd show up with it at Subaru's USA HQ and ask for a job building rallye cars... just an idea! "resume? i drove my resume here. step outside with me!"

source for EA82 rear disc calipers? (uncut lines)
I would like to know if any of you who work at wrecking yards or any other parts sourcing jobs are able to provide a hookup for EA82 rear calipers without the brake lines cut, as is standard practice at all wrecking yards i know of. costs?? thanks!

Attach BUMP STOPS
i'd suggest that you be more specific. i'm guessing that you have a 1985 or later sedan or wagon, and are talking about the rear suspension bump stops? we'd need to know why yours are off. did you remove them? i've had a bump stop rust off for instance. too much info is better than not enough

What do you guys think about this???
heh, that's the trick, making it sound easy considering it an investment is not the best course as you will never recoup the time and labor put into it. I'm saying that you can put in the rear 4WD stuff before the rest, as opposed to at the same time. i'm thinking of saving time. just leave the driveshaft out and the rear end will roll along. then you can do the double conversion later, but if you do the conversion first, you'll have to put in the rear end stuff at the same time because otherwise you'd either leak oil from the trans where the driveshaft yoke is missing, or you'd put in the driveshaft yoke and have the rear end of that flopping around while you drive.... no thanks! If this car is all you can find, then this project would be very inviting, and a mint body is worth some consideration.... but you might be able to find something already equipped if you wait a little longer. you are in a good area for subarus, after all.

finally got my photo gallery rolling!
cool. you have the same car as I do, minus my frankenstein treatment to the suspension and driveline. i used to have those same wheels too

simple advice...(updated w/ pics)
heh. i didn't mean to be TOO sarcastic. I really hope it works in the long run for you, and I think it looks like a cool enough idea that it deserves to. i can see how it sort of suggested itself with the holes in the TB gear. Best of luck!

My Loyale
sure, if the transmission has it you also need the wiring for the switch for the lock, and the vacuum solenoid for the lock. it's right next to the driver's side strut tower, it looks like two black plastic photo film containers with some green plastic nipples and some vacuum hoses.

So, I just blew the motor in my Turbo Wagon....
the easiest thing to throw in there (besides another turbo engine) would be a N/A MPFI engine as I believe the wiring and computer are the same. you might keep an eye out for one of those...

What do you guys think about this???
ehh, snowmobile trails in the winter are a nice compromise between a hard core dent collecting rig and a stock subie. stuff like that.. i don't like getting dents on my car or leaving paint and grease on trees and rocks, for that matter. i'd say that if you could get the seller to budge on the price a little, and if you have something else to drive so you're not in a rush to finish the conversion project, then it could be worthwhile. throw some rear discs in the back when you do the 4WD swap. you can also do the 4wd swap separately from the manual to auto swap (i'd do that first if you do them separately) , and you can do the motor and AT/manual swap at the same time. drop the engine/trans and front suspension all at once and put the new engine and manual trans together on the floor, lower the body back onto them! basically, i'd attach more value to a pristine body. and if you're going to have the ENTIRE driveline and suspension out of it at one point, i'd root for you to clean up and undercoat the bottom too. good luck!
