  1. I will agree in the warmer temps a heavy oil is a must! 15w50 was the only one that didn't lose oil pressure at highway speeds when it was hot out. These motors (EA82 & similar) are very temperamental in the sense that you really have to..or should..take care to have the right oil in at different times of the year.
  2. My dealer around here sorta sucks. Not only do i always feel rushed they end up not getting the right parts. I know there are a bunch of subaru sites but I want to know what you guys use, because id rather order online but i want only OEM parts. Thanks!!!!
  3. I really think the 40w is too heavy, but being both our motors could be in different shape its hard to determine which is right...I thought even if its a synthetic it would flow better but i was wrong. The car would have lifter noise no matter what until i finally tested something and basically drove it hard to warm it up and it went away...I had 10w40 or 15w50 in it...(again both mobil 1 synthetic)..After that i went with 10w30 and havent looked back...I just always let my car run for a few minutes. Mobil also makes an oil filter for it and from what i've read theyre one of the best....Part No. M1-208 This raises the question tho if 5w30 is better for the cold temps. I'm thinking about changing it one more time for the winter really hits. Any thoughts?
  4. Well i might have to drive my car in the winter and if i do im going to atleast prepare it... 92' Loyale FWD Anyone have suggestions for me? I might be able to get them off a parts car but im not sure yet...Thanks!!!!
  5. Very true, this is what came to mind first..For a high revving motor 5w30 is too thin...I will run 10w30 in winter even tho i don't drive it in winter..but colder temps and the engine makes noise...I did run 15w50...(I only run mobil one btw) I think 10w40 is the way to go...but when it was hot out the 15w50 was the only one that didnt suffer high temp oil pressure problems.
  6. I am very jealous of this car....My loyale is in as nice shape...I should do something like this!!!
  7. Mines noisy as well...has been for the past year since i bought car...i assume its normal! I can hear fuel pump change sound when the turn signal is on too lol.
  8. This talk makes me hate my 3AT...The gearing is so much better with the 5sp. I think the EA82 is a great little motor...And the comment about being like a diesel is dead on. But 3 gears is just not enough..i mean it is, but it'd be so much better.
  9. lol..i think every loyale owner has done the cups on dash...i've done so with no issues...but! one false move and your &&$#%%#^$^
  10. I gotta be honest i've never seen even 400 miles to a tank with my loyale (3AT - FWD) I have gotten around 28mpg which is all things considered is not really that good since the motor is so small...I guess its not having overdrive and not having the best gearing that kills it. Certainly not the boxy styling:clap:
  11. if the diff can handle a mighty 94 hp im sure a little plastic wont kill it:Flame: BUT i would drive it for about 50 to 75 miles and change the fluid..like others said make sure the "diffstick" is out when you drain it. If anything you have freash fluid and should have the remains of the plastic out (not that it would do any harm really...You could also pour fresh lube into diff when the drain plug is out to flush the bottom out..
  12. I'll be honest i haven't messed with CV's much...but if your gonna replace 4 boots you could probably buy one for the price of just that...That time will offset the cost of the other CV. Plus they'll be new and shiny;)
  13. ditto on the caliper slide grease (not many people realize how much this really does and you should put it behind and on the anti rattle parts and aroudn the pad itself...but be clean with it..don't get on pad or rotor)......I would recommend synthetic wheel bearing grease to...not a big deal to have synthetic (just make sure its disc brake approved - IE high heat) but that's what i'm doing to my loyale when i go to change the CV's. A bit slicker and lasts longer.
  14. You have to get a engine heater since the EA82 doesn't produce enough power to heat itself:banana::banana:
  15. http://www.handsontools.com/Subaru-Tools_c_57.html https://subaru.spx.com/DisplayByCategory.aspx?id=9 Just sites...but you may have luck using a 4 wheel drive hub tool for trucks...idk what size the tool in the pic is, but i used one of these to change the diff seals on the tranny in a 99 impreza
  16. Unless the weathers good i wouldn't run too high of pressure...Even then your gonna start wearing the inside of the tire... Just run the recommend tire size and pressure and do the most important thing for max MPG...Drive sensibly! (i can't do it:-p)
  17. tell them you want to test the compression on motor...If they want you as a customer they should do this for you...of course YOU NEED to witness or do it. Too much time and money at stake to just "hope its good"
  18. You know..i changed my air flow sensor and it seems to have stopped bogging as much. Don't bother me tho, just a quirk of the car. I bog down to before i'm warmed up:D Does it clear up? Cause i noticed if i'd let it warm up a little b4 moving it wouldn't do it.
  19. I know the newer ones have suggested temp ranges (that no one cares about) that they should work in. Now granted a new one you won't have problems except for maybe the tape or cd player...But an old radio i could see having those problems...I can't really see it being anything else. I guess get a new radio if its confirmed nothing else is at fault. Hope that helps!!!
  20. I have read that OEM water pumps are the best you can get as they are usaully good for up to 100,000+ miles with no worries at all. I swear i saw they were good til 200,000 with proper care...I have had good luck with the GMB ones...They are made in Japan;)
  21. Ya i've seen that site...and a few others like it...Amazing a simple part like mine and they seem to have everything else lol! I guess only the loyale used this fastener
  22. No its off the part itself...exactly as i posted it I actaully just emailed the company too to see if they know anything lol:popcorn:
