I will get to it as soon as I can. Hopefully I can find a box this week. -

Jon the pushbar is yours. I am going to save the other one for the 79 wagon I am going to pick up next week! Just let me find a box it will fit in and get an idea of what it will cost to ship. We ship Fed Ex at my work and supposedly they give companies a little better rate. Oh yeah it supposedly has blue interior if that makes a difference to anybody. -

Oh yeah I forgot, I will be going to pick it up in a few weeks. Just don't have time to get it right now. Already bought it so no worries about it going anywhere. -
I have pics for it in the gallery under Subieguy. It is the white one with the shell on it. And it comes with a bunch of extras. I only posted one pic of the parts but it does come with 3 trannys. One of those is the 5speed out of the 81 Brat. Guy sold the ea-81 that went with the tranny though. Also two other ea-71 motors. Extra fenders too! Best part about that is they are rust free! . Finally will get my tail light I need too. Will be taking request on this one if anybody needs parts. I am going to part this one just like I did to my last 3 Brats. Let me know if you see anything you want. Thanks, Richard.

Got my 89 GL-10 for free. Put about $500 into it to get it up and going again. Turned around and sold it for $1,700:grin: . -
Biggest wheels on subaru brat w/o lift..?
Subieguy replied to 81BRAT's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Make sure that whatever you put on that you test it before you buy or install it. The Gen 1 Brats have a different backspacing. I discovered that when I tried to put stock subie steelies from a 88 XT on my 78 Brat. The backspacing was wrong and the rear wheels did not fit. Well they fit, They just would not roll. Some of the guys on here should be able to give you exact specs as to what will clear in the back. -
If you do that make sure you add some steel reinforcements into the car in some place to make up for the roof strength you are removing. I had a 78 Brat that had the top cut off. In a matter of a couple of years it broke in half! That was even with a home made roll bar on it to give it strength. This was not my work but the previous owners handywork. That was ok with me. Turned out to be a good parts Brat.

Hey Subies are cool! One day at my Work some guy walked by my 88 XT and he said "Man that car is so ugly it's cool". So even if they are trash talking deep down they know Subies are the S***!
-
Got to stick with the Subie! Also, if it is a new car you get a couple of other things too like: Car payments and, full coverage insurance. That is unless you plan to buy the car outright and that would eliminate both of those things.

Yeah I have seen one XT DL in my local junk yard. Pretty darn sparse inside. Not much in the way of options. But at least it had a back seat in it!
-
One of my 78 Brats had a original 11,280 miles on it when I got rid of it just a few months ago. No that is not a mistake! It had been rolled back in 79 and it had been used as a ranch car for the rest of its life till it broke in half! That was due to the top being cut off. But at least I saved the drivetrain out of it.

Nice ride! How much did you pick it up for?

the brat has bad gas and a runny nose

It's not a cat. It is called a resonator. You don't really have to have it. You just might as well take it to a exhaust shop and have a new exhaust sytem done. That is unless you want stock. Then one of the guys here on the board may be able to help you out or point you in the right direction to find a stock exhaust system. -
That sure would be a nice one to pick up and make my daily driver. Would a windshield out of a 78 brat fit? I have 2 of them.

So what is the story on this one? Do you know who owns it? Are you going to grab it if you can or what? I would be all over that one if I were you!
