  1. I need the front valance off it if it is not all rusted or dented. Let me know. Thanks.
  2. Yeah I want a set for my 78 Brat. Winter will be here soon and I don't want my belts goin bad! Last winter I just took them out so they would not suffer in the weather.
  3. No he contacted me back in April and he and his wife had decided to let it go. I was supposed to go get it from him in May but, The wife just about flipped when I told her. Finances were not real good at that point with the wife just starting a new business. I asked him to hold it for me. He said he would try. I have been trying to contact him for about a month now. I guess I was a little too late. Sucks!
  4. That really makes me sad:( . I really wanted it and I tried to get the guy to hold it for a few months. It had already been sitting at his house for years. Oh well, I missed out. Another one bites the dust.
  5. Let us know how you come up with a good way to lift it. Gen1 Brats are not the easiest thing to lift.
  6. Did it have a big dent in the drivers side passenger door? If so this is the one I could not go get. Wife would not let me go get it. And, It was free! That was back in May. It was in Los Angeles at the time. If this is the one I am kicking myself now. It even ran!
  7. You should be able to have it mig welded back together with no problem. Looks like a easy fix to me.
  8. Will a alternator from a EA-82 engine work for this swap Mike? If not I guess I will have to hunt down the correct alternator before I finally give this one a shot. You should post pictures of this proceedure too.
  9. I would like to rebuild the front end in my 78 Brat while I have the motor out. What all should I replace? I know I need wheel bearings and a tie rod end but what else will I need and are the parts I need still available? Any help would be appreciated.
  10. Ok I have decided I want to rebuild the engine in my 78 Brat. I have been using it as my daily driver and it really need some work. I just need to know if all the parts are still available for a engine rebuild. Also are any of the seals still available for the transmission. I have a 11,000 mile tranny from another wrecked 78 Brat. I figured while I had the engine out I would throw in the lower mile tranny. Also still looking for tranny mounts for it. The one I welded together work but you can really feel the vibration with them. It is not bad but you can feel it. Thanks.
  11. Man Mike! Glad to see you are ok! I hate to say this but if you decide to get rid of some parts off of it let me know. Dam shame, that was a sweet $150 Brat.
  12. I have one, my 78 Brat. I picked it up down in Beverly Hills a little over 2 years ago. It runs. It is registered. What are you looking to pay for one?
  13. Yeah those are the 2 bolts you need to remove. And of course the ones where the tank is mounted to the body. Be careful with those bolts. They seem to get rusted pretty good and have the tendency to snap off easily. After you take the bolts out the tank comes out pretty easy. You may have to push down on the rear diff a little when pulling out the tank but it is no problem. You will also have 2 breather lines on both sides of the tank that have to be unhooked. Don't forget the filler neck and the regular fuel lines. Good luck!
  14. Have fun finding those. I had to weld my broken tranny mounts together just to make mine work.
  15. The hood ornament is off a 56 Chevy. Take it off and sell it on Ebay. Proably get a few bucks for it.
  16. No you will have to drop the rear end to get the gas tank out. It is really easy though. I had to do it when I changed my tank in my 78 Brat about 2 months ago.
  17. Well if you need a grill I have two of them sitting in my storage shed in great shape!
  18. I finally got the lens I needed. What I really need are good trans mounts. I could not find any so I just welded mine together and made them solid for the time being.
  19. This is exactly why I am out of the old gen stuff. I am just going to drive my Brat till I can't get parts for it anymore. Which does not appear to be too far off. It sucks that you can't find new parts easily anymore. I think I might just fix my 85 GL-10 to drive around. Parts are easy to get for it. Also, my son likes it too! Good luck Gen 1 guys.
  20. Nice to see it up and running Mike. I saw you today on the 101 going south. I was coming back from A-town myself. Saw your 77 wagon sitting for sale in the rite aid parking lot. Why are you selling? Parts to hard to find? If so I can say that is what has finally drove me out of the Subaru thing. Good luck with it Mike!
  21. Going to have to cancel my 2 gaskets. I have made a tough decision and I am getting out of Subarus. I am tired of struggling to find parts. I am getting rid of everything and I am going to go back to my first love. Old Chevys. Looking right now to find a old Chevelle, Nova or, Camaro for my next project. Sorry but my when it takes me a year and a half just to find a tail light lens for my Brat I know I have had enough.
  22. Never mind. For right now I just welded them together and made them solid. Won't matter much any way. I am not planning on driving it much anymore.
  23. I know this has probably been asked before but, Can you still get tranny mounts for a 78 Brat. If so where? Mine are not looking so good and the part number on them comes back to nothing.
