traitor! see you around !_!

Ya they could be worn out after 200k miles! LOL Find some springs off a car thats only 50k-100k miles on the body. They wont be like new but they should be better than the ones you got! Might even get lucky and find someone who replaced them once before.

interesting ign problem, carb motor in mpfi
MorganM replied to MilesFox's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ya give those links a good tug. Sometimes they can fry a little inside the shielding and arc accross sometimes and not othertimes giving you some funny behavior! -
Tires give you ground clearance, not lift kits. Lift kits just make it easier to put on big tires. So in your case that's why I'm lobbying so hard for the use of the biggest tires you can get on there. Definatly want an aggressive tread pattern. I think youll have plenty of fun with just tires, skid plates, and the garbonzo beans to just go for it when you are on the trail Just remember those scrapes and scratches are battle scars! I got plenty dirty in my old 90 Legacy wagon with the biggest tires I could fit on and nothing else. Rage it !_!

What are you restoring? Do you even know the static compression ratio of your engine currently? Or its OEM spec to match against? Dont be that guy If you are worried that your engine is 'worn out' do a compression test and a full tune up first or have a good mechanic do a full inspection and diagnosis of your car. Then I think you can make a more educated decision on how to fix your Subaru.

I guess I always called ita BYB lift cuz I started out on the BYB forums over 4 years ago. Saw those BYB dudes doing Gayamakanas (did I spell that right? Lol) with Brett's home lift and was HOOKED! So glad you guys got a deal going for a more affordable BYB lift in the USA. Keep up the good work, both of you THank you

Really? Something is broke then I get upto 70 MPH in my lifted wagon on 29"s Youd think ppl would notice how SLOW they were when a lifted wagon passes them...
-
It will handel that stuff JUST fine. I wouldnt worry about beefing up those parts untill you were going to put in a lift kit and some seriouse tires For instance putting on 33" tires you would need to start questioning durability of your parts. Even then I would prollly just put them on and find out !_! Dont wuss out put on the the 75s!!!!

Loyale brakes. . and some squeaking from the rear
MorganM replied to DecimalCat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
When you pump the brake pedal and stand on it an you feel the pressure (even if it's every so slowly) drop and the pedal start to come down? If you have SOLID pressure (read: it doesnt slowly drop) then you are not leaking fluid. Did you 'bench bleed' the master cylinder and then bled the rest of the lines after installation of the new master cylinder? Gotta get all the air out for sure or youll have some soft pedal action !_! When you adjust the rears; is it back to normal for a day or 2 and then taipers off to its usualy squishy self? If so your adjusters might be shot. I'd suggest just doing a disc upgrade if you could instead of bumbeling around with the drums. As for the funny squeek'ns in the rear. My struts squeek pretty bad over bumps. No more paint on the springs and seats; just rust Jack her up and take the tires off. Look and see just how bad things are in there. If its just surface rust then drive on. -
I just saw some pics of this mod in another thread. Man they really do raise that rear up a couple inches. What about options for the front that swap right in?

Decal my wife picked up for me :)
MorganM replied to mcbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
LOL i love it! where can we get them?! -
what do you use to remove decal glue residue?
MorganM replied to mcbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Peanutbutter. Smear some on the spot and let it sit for a day. Whipe off the peanutbutter and *shazam* it's gone. Now I dont know what this would do to paint on a car but it works wonders taking sticky junk off of plastic, glass and fiberglass. My grandma taught me this to get price tags and other stickers off of things. -
The adjustments you made to make them fit up front honestly are not noticible. I even knew where to look and you couldnt tell anything was done unless you got down on one knee and stuck your head down into the fenderwell. Most people wont even know what to look for even if they noticed something was funny. 235/60/14 ? Go for it !_! Oh wait am I talking about EA81's again? **Disclaim** I have never owned an EA81 and therefore know nothing about them **Disclaimed**

Which adhesive to use for emblems, etc?
MorganM replied to spideyz's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I just used 2 products to put some OEM badges back onto my fenders and rear. One was by Permatex and it was called Trim Glue or Trim Adhessive. It was a small seringe with a bottle of stuff in the area with all the other Peramtex sealants and glues. Worked great for the little Subaru GL badges. Then I used some 3M double sided foam adhessive from Wal-mart on the bulky 4WD badges. That worked OK but the surfaces need to be very clean. One 4WD emblem fell off cuz there was a bunch of old adhessive and dirt on the back of the badge. Other one is holding strong -
Good idea. Also just putting the Copyright symbol (little circle around a C) on your documentation/product with the date or year is a good idea. A laywer told me about this when I was in college. He said its not a full fledge copyright, since its not registerd with the .gov, but its better than nothing and it is admisible in court; just like this letter. Cover thy arse, sir

Dont worry about the ECU; I'm sure its fine. Since you have the harness and the gumption, go for it. Definatly worth a shot. Also since that is not a brand new part you might try another IAC just to be sure Even a good cleaning out of that IAC you put on might do the trick. They can get all gummed up and varnished.
