Subaru boat???
Actually an EJ25 might be an option, about what, 150-165 stock? though I think they run either prem or at least super due to high compression. edit: they can be found in all 2.5rs models and the forester 2.5x models.

Droping a motor in a justy
WOW, cheak out the latest vids on his page, he smoked a WRX while carrying 4 passengers.....bad rump roast. so the moral of the story, if your're in canada, beware red justys

Droping a motor in a justy
Plenty of justys in the states if that's what you mean, woulden't reccomend this mod to anyone that isn't comfortable with a welder.

'66 awd VW
Anyone else have any input on my suggestion of a carrera 4 tranny? It is rear engine AWD and should work if you have the money, any idea on how much one would run price wise?

can a 93 soob have an EA82?
I have a 95 impreza with an EJ18 and it is a good motor, my mileage sucks but It is an auto AWD and I think it is not running properly, (the Best I have gotten is like 25mpg on a trip to FL from NC generally 15-18 here in NC). the engine dosen't have the same low end grunt of some of the earlier engines but plenty of power up high, this also dosen't help mileage as it wants to down shift alot (in the mtns. here).

How bout Lexus eh?
Tbird Man replied to Slegacy96's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAnother problem with electrics is how long it takes to charge them, if you're running around town in stop and go traffic, while electric is mr efficent than gas in this case, you will run the batteries down, then you have to stop for at least 20-30 min to recharge before you can go on. And about the Lexus, acura, Mazda, Volvo, etc. AWD systems, some may be more technologicly advanced but Subaru still has one of the best systems overall simply beacuse they have been doing it longer. That said, I agree Subaru needs to do something to compete beacuse the common man dosen't know the difference between a clutch pack and a viscous coupleing. here's my plan. 1. Bring back the BRAT, not the baja the brat, a 2dr with a pickup bed based on the impreza chassis. Plenty of younger people want the hauling ability of a small truck at better mileage. 2. A crossover on the tribecca platform, tribecca is not a very good design for an SUV and the mini street SUVs are waneing replaceing them are crossovers like the ford freestyle and Pacifica. 3. Lower cost hatchback, this is already being talked about and we "might" see one by 2008-2009. 4. Motorsports, Factory backed enteries into speed touring car challange, and ALMS. Subaru is leery of this after they got burned on their Formula 1 program.

I broke my front anti-sway bar
Tbird Man replied to Geoff4130's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNaw, he forgot the bailing wire, or is that just for exuast repairs? and I would imagane any sway bar form said years would work.

Automatic shifts at redline?
Tbird Man replied to Psy890's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe power light is a power mode that comes on when you quickly depress the throttle. it changes the shift points to get more power at cost of fuel economy. So yes, this is why it shifts higher.

Funny WRX pic.
Either PS or was following someone thorwin mud on em, might explain the wing, mud hit roof/windshield before wing. Happens alot in off road raceing.

Center diff time
"Hmmmmmmmm....much interesting...pics to come." Interesting as in a D/R EJ trannie? If that is possible I could do my 6in lifted (3" suspension 3" body) impreza coupe on 30s . though probibly not.

BMW Isetta with an EA81

The justy rears its ugly head...
as I said, the axles can usually be shortened at a machine shop.

The Justyfier
problem with awd in mid engine is the tailshaft would stick past the rear bumper. you could do front engine awd it has been done. though you're weight distro would be horrible. an option for rear the suspension is the front suspension off the impreza with tie rods mounted to the chassis for adujstable toe, or possibily 4 wheel steering, though that would be complicated and involve computer controls to maintain stability at high speeds.

Dissable AirBags ?
I believe the earily model imprezas had the front shipping hoops removed cause they hit on curbs sometimes setting off the 'bags, i'll reseach it. *edit http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/techdocs/pdf/misc/tow.pdf

The justy rears its ugly head...
sweet project man, that thing will fly. 1. don't know 2. see 1 3. any good machine shop should be able to make custom axles to go between the CV's 4. 2.2 is a good engine, just as reliable as 1.8 with more hp/torque. 5. see 2 6. ????? 7. PROFIT!!

Dissable AirBags ?
Yeah, airbags don't tend to go off from bumping around, they usually use a linear sensor meaning it has to be a strightish impact, not just a hard suspension bump. for instance, my sister got hit in my roo hard enough to do $2100 worth of damage to a $2500 car. the airbags didn't deploy beacuse she got hit in the drivers front quarter from the side (stupid person cutting through a parking lot). had it been head on the bags would likely have deployed.also, I hit a rock with the wheel hard enough to punch a hole in the tire and bend the lower control arm and no aribags. IIRC it is also tied to the speed sensor, so they don't deploy below a certin speed. besides, most offroad trucks with airbags don't have trouble. all in all, deffinatly leave it alone, like we were taught in auto tech, if the wire is yellow, the standard color for airbag systems, leave it alone.

Aussie Hatch... Now ej22 Converted. (with pics)
1/2 in should work, the extra just means a little less of the input shaft in the bushing. though if you can get 12mm it would be preferable. I might do this to put a 5spd D/R in a 'Prezza.

heh, on a slightly related note http://www.truckworld.com/trail-trucks/02-gremillion_shark/02-gremillion_shark.html

Highangle CV
really what we're talkin about at this poitn it would be easier to just do a full custom suspension, maybe with Hummer H1 geared hubs?
-
Highangle CV
A little MS paint for ya. *edit* yeah, the gearing is an issue, I am thinking either a divorced atlas Tcase or a D/R conversion. though mine is an auto so it would be nice to keep that for off road.
-
Highangle CV
Part of that comes from people not wanting to put that much money into a car they only paid a couple hundred bucks for. I was just thinking that it would be cool to have the first rock crawling 'Prezza not many off road 'prezzas, but I would if I had a properly equiped ride, it's stock now, but the shocks are shot, so I was thinking while I was in there, I may as well see what I can do to make it more capable off road.
