  1. I was the one who did the shortened shifter. Same throw, shorter rod AND knob My GL's short shifter Oh, and I ended up cutting off 2 inches, not 1.5 or whatever the page says. (I took off an extra bit after the boot kept sliding down cause the knob was too high up)
  2. I dont wanna drive to hillsboro? You drove to Hood River didn't you?
  3. There WAS a 78 brat with good fenders on it down here in Portland, but Caboobaroo and I took the fenders afew weeks ago ($25 each)
  4. I remember seeing that car. I really like the idea of using a sedan rear piece instead of the soft top idea. I'm sure an EA81 wagon and brat B pillar could be grafted together too, but the sedan idea sounds a bit more promising as tehre is more room for the back seats that way.
  5. Hmmmm if I can get Andrew to cart up his welder... we should bob the BRAT All I need you for Zap is to show me where to cut and what to be careful of hitting (wires, cables, whatever funny stuff is hidden in the body) and I need andrew to weld the arse back on
  6. I will be having to move out of my present living situation in a month or 2 so I figured I would start looking. I want to get into a place with 2+ bedrooms and a garage (1 bedroom + garage would be really expensive for 1 person) Anyway... any sube nuts in Portland want a 22 year old college student roommate?
  7. I also use the flathead screwdriver. I press the door panel as much as I can to give me more room behind the handle to work. I havnt yanked a door panel for a year or 2, but I recall it not being that hard to remove and install the clip.
  8. My 87 GL has NEVER had the light come on for any reason... somehow I think the bulb was yanked out... I never bothered to check however because since I removed alot of unnecessary parts to install the weber, I'm sure I would be getting all sorts of codes.
  9. Heh heh, sweet Hey, I am in The Dalles til Friday so if he and Ahna are on I-84 and want to drop by he should remember how to get up here... Exit 87, then go south on Highway 197 and I am up on the bluff over it
  10. I've had my 98 since MArch or so... its just been in the body shop for a long time. I bought it purely for the purpose of reselling. Had it been a 5 speed and wagon I woulda kept it, but an automatic sedan.. ummm no.
  11. When you get back, I will need fundage for the Impreza (5 lug + Y pipe freight)... ETA of completion is now 4-6 days So... I may be pimp'n a 98 Impreza at the next rallycross
  12. I know its coming up, I know I will be there (PROBABLY in the GL, but MAYBE the brat....) Anyone find the info page for it? I find it here and there on the ORG page, but havn't yet found DETAILS. Hmmmm so if I understand correctly... I can run Truck / SUV with the GL now huh? Its tempting to run Open class again, but somehow I think I would have a better chance of finally getting a trophy running against SUV's
  13. Thats a pretty good idea there... I think you should go the small holes route also and make sure not to drill through the carpet, total stealth mode on the stereo You DO plan to drill a bunch of holes to let the amp get cool air too right???
  14. Woo hoo, 5th place open class, only beat by a 2.5RS, Legacy GT, Impreza, and an Omni GLH To all WRX's that think they can challenge my 90 HP beast :moon:
  15. my 88 toyota pickup at (former) work had only 90K and had a REALLY sloppy igintion... I could yank out the key with the truck on I could start it with pretty much anything too
  16. if its JUST a muffler that i needs, just stick on a flowmaster or something... or a glasspack. If cats are needed also... then I can see how it can be expensive
  17. I'm going with Ken... I guess a turbo legacy... my guess is a wagon.
  18. Grrrr, I hate theives... my roommates stereo got ripped off from his Accord afew days ago It boggles my mind why someone would steal an 84 GL wagon :cornfuzz:
  19. 15 seconds I think is ok for an EA81, I belive my 87 does it in like AROUND 10 seconds getting on the freeway running to redline in each gear
  20. Yes I have 4 14" alloys WITH center caps. Edrach has the lugnuts that you will need. His price is very reasonable too as they are $9 each new This is what I have I paid $50 plus time and gas to drive all the way across town for them, but I will be asking no more than $60 from you for me to bring them down to Albany. The tires on them suck, they NEED to be replaced.
  21. Personally I think there is more talk about failure than there IS failure... beinga 2000 I think you are in decent shape... its like 98's and stuff that I HEAR about having problems... (the phase 1's like you said) Since you are in Oregon with most of us... you need to rallycross with us http://www.oregonrally.com Next one is in Hillsboro in about 3 weeks :bday:
  22. my $350 86 that I had you swap the engine on... had the SAME problem... sometimes the gas light would come on AND the trip computer would read 0 miles after a fill up :cornfuzz: Solution... I sold the car and told the guy to trust ONLY the odometer and the analog temp guage
  23. Since on one said anything... I belive 140's are safe jets to run in a weber... whether or not they are perfect for the car is one thing... but I do know they are safe (you wont blow up the engine or anything)
