EA81 Head gaskets..again?
I THINK that an 83+ 4WD clutch is bigger than an 82- 4WD and FWD clutch. My lifted brat used to have the little clutch.... it sucked

Death of the Brat
kbb wont even go back that far.... but dont be surprised if they give you a hit figure of like $750 "just because of the mileage" or some bull like that. Likely the first number you hear from them wont be what you expect... so dont take it unless its like $2500-4000 or something halfway reasonable Hopefully you get near enough out of it to buy Ed's brat

Why Baja > Outback
I agree that an outback could haul the weight and the material... but would you WANT to haul that stuff in the back of it? Even with the tarp in the bed I still had lots of escapees that I had to sweep and shop vac out of the corners of the bed.

Why Baja > Outback
Can your outback haul this?? Its more than it looks like.... likely 1200-1300 pounds of river rock

Gen 2 Brat jumpseat measurements wanted
Sweet thanks... looks like it may be right about where needed (maybe a little tight, but I think I could make it work)

Gen 2 Brat jumpseat measurements wanted
How much do you think shipping from alabama would be though? :-\ Guess it depends on how big they are first though.

Gen 2 Brat jumpseat measurements wanted
Like the title says.... someone have a set of jumpseats they could measure? (the stock subaru metal frame with the 2 seats bolted to it) Looking to see how far it is from the outer grab handle to the other (basically the width of the entire structure) The height and depth of the structure would help too. I would settle for just the measurement of 1 seat with the 2 handles on it. Not telling what for yet... but the wheels are turning

Death of the Brat
maybe grab that $500 ish one thats down here near Salem.... and swap any of your good stuff over. Make sure to buy it back from insurance as its likely only going to cost like $50-75 to buy back and you could make that from the tailgate and trim alone

Courier Needs Help
really the only 2 things that are easy and will keep the car reliable is to put some kind of intake on it and install a free flowing muffler (like a glasspack, or a turbo-muffler, or a flowmaster)

91 Legacy Auto Seatbelt questions?
So.... my 91 legacy project car is having some seatbelt issues. Short story: They dont work Long Story: - I tried swapping the seatbelt brain and it didnt seem to make a difference - The fasten seatbelt light flashes and always flashes regardless of use of belts or door position. - The beeper DOES work when you disconnect the belt emergency release (on both sides) - The belts are stuck at the rear (travelling) position - The car was running, though I had to use a jumper box to start it - Door switches are kind of worn, though the door ajar (which door) indicator works - I opened and closed the doors afew times with the belt attached to the moving buckle and it wouldnt go forward to let me out. - All the fuses under the dash appeared to be ok at visual glance (and everything else in the car seems to work) - Key chime does not make noise when key is left in ignition and door is opened - 91 Legacy L, FWD 241K So the question is.... what else to try / check? Pull the trim and hotwire the belt to see if I can make it move? (like you can do to test a power window motor)

Can an old subaru learn new tricks
This should be moved (by a moderator) to the new generation forum... But you SHOULD have cupholders in a 94. There is a piece of black trim OVER the stereo but under the climate control dials. Slides out and up and then a piece flops down to hold the bottom of the cups. http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll90/JOHNRAMINTA/IMG_0482.jpg Not my picture.... but shown here look at the top of the stereo how there is a horizontal line extending in the black trim to the side from the top of the stereo.... thats because that line is the cup holder meeting the trim.

New Legacy, but some ??'s
Tried to start it today.... replaced the 3 little relays in the hood fuse box and the black fusible link and soldered the ignition plug back together. Tried to crank, but wouldnt start.... HOPEFULLY because the jumper box needs to be charged more.... or replaced I was able to get the power locks to work, the parking brake light came on and another red light came on, but NO CEL.... ever.... Any other fuses I should take a look at or is it likely just burned out? (or removed?) I will try to start it again after the box charges all day. EDIT.... with a freshly charged jumper box it started right up.... the idle moves a bit between 700 and 1000 but once I get the guage cluster bulbs fixed maybe I can find a CEL code or something...
