  1. The hardest part is when you have to "shoot ol yeller" so to speak.... I swore I would have my 87 GL nearly forever... got it at 215K and finally parted it out at 321 or something like that.... I would have to go look at the odometer in the garage. You can keep on making your baby live on just like I did. Unfortunately you may reach a point where you can sell off the parts for $1200, OR throw $1500 or more INTO it to make it work correctly again. It was REALLY hard to watch the wreckers put the forklift through the windows and carry the car off
  2. if I recall the defender 110 and 90 are labeled so because of their wheelbase... you should measure the samurai wheelbase... make it the defender 75 or 80 or however long it is
  3. hmmm brat body + heavily modified clodzilla 3 chassis..... maybe I could outcrawl y'all, then again I need to get it RUNNING first
  4. I was looking for this thread.... congrats... hope our gift made it there ok
  5. happy belated, hard to keep up with whats going on when the last time i was on was a month ago
  6. Ugh going to miss this one by a day. I am going back out on the road on the fourth :(must... make.... WCSS...
  7. Thats the one.... I think its the big one too.
  8. Ha... thats why I checked back today... I thought you were a day early for a joke Good one though
  9. IF you are running a weber I THINK that you only need like 3 hoses. Its been like 2 years since I got rid of the car but I think you run a vac line FROM the carb to the disty, a vac line from teh intake to the climate control and maybe 1 more...
  10. actually... on my 86 wagon... the light was controlled by the passenger door and the passenger door ONLY. Pop off the panel in there and see what you can see.
  11. if I recall on mine I only lost reverse in low range.... and I THINK I could get it if I put it in reverse in high range first and THEN threw it in low range... hard to remember since I sold that brat
  12. "richierich" has an EA81 convertible... its 2WD carbed (not turbo ) but still should clean up nice when its done
  13. Since I cant be there in person I slapped an OregonRallyGroup sticker on the truck I was issued today (on drivers side of sleeper about car height). So if anyone of you see a white swift truck #42047 with that sticker... its me
  14. if I recall I got you those freeze plugs at my old mechanic in The Dalles Andrew. Sorry Russ I think Andrew got the last of em. They were NOS when we grabbed em and the guy has retired and lives in AZ or something now :-\
  15. ahhh man I thought it was this coming weekend. I will be home this weekend but gone the next 2-3
  16. The old blanks + a dremel = homemade ghetto surrounds. may look ok if you take your time and make straight lines with nice curved edges on the corners.
  17. the brat is very likely narrower than something like an impreza. I KNOW its narrower than a legacy for sure. You may be able to get away with keeping your basic dash structure and getting creative with putting in a newer guage cluster or something. Carbon fiber, diamond plate and autometer guages??
  18. hopefully not forever... you have been a good resource over the years and are one of the mature ones on here
  19. 16400 or so on the 2005 baja. Poor thing barely gets driven anymore Because... I spend most of my time now in a 2006 Volvo errrr truck (sorry dont know the model) with 55K on it and rapidly increasing by almost 1K per day (just retired a 2002 freightliner columbia with 580K) Ya I know they arent subes... but once I go solo I am putting a subaru sticker on my fleet truck
  20. I use PB blaster to break stuff free.... and WD 40 as more of a cleaner or lube for something... a squeaky hinge in the house for example
  21. i dont care if its not a subaru... that thing is sweet
  22. Seen it... I drive trucks... we had a 99 or so Freightliner FLD daycab with 1,097,000 miles
