Got some goodies for the Brat today.
That's funny, I picked up the same lights at HF for the buggy roof rack. I'd be suprised if they're brighter than flashlights, but I wanted them for cosmetic purposes. Checker wants $21 for the same brand:D Now to find headlights..........? Glenn, 82 Hatch, transforming with quad driving lights! 01 Forester, Never turned on factory driving lights!

New Sorento may dip into Forester sales
Sweet82 replied to a post in a topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMaybe this will kick Subaru in the ___! and get them to offer the D/R tranny in the US again? They offer it elsewhere. This would be the easyest solution the the match up! Glenn, 82 Hatch, has gears 01 Forester, has none:banghead:

brush guard
Sweet82 replied to wagonpowaa's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe real problem here is not the bars or approach angles. These really don't mean anything because of the lack of low end gears. Lifting it so you can have larger tires will just aggrivate the problem.:madder: :madder: :madder: Anything you do to a Forester or Outback is cosmetic because the vehicle is incapable of any real off-roading. (dirt roads are fine) It is unfortunate that the Subarus of today are not the Subarus of yesterday:boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: Subaru apparently sells a D/R tranny for the Foresters in AZ but not the US.:argue: This ain't right! Go to your window right now and shout "I'm not going to take it anymore!" Sorry after reading this old post again, I just couldn't take it. Glenn, 82 Hatch, 4sp D/R! 01 Forester 5sp No/R!:madder:

Brat jumpseats legal in VA? also duals?
This doesn't sound right? The vehicle would have to meet all DOT regulations to be imported to the US in the first place. If these seats were illegal, or deemed unsafe, they never would have had them. It was my understanding that the only reason the seats were added was to get around an import tariff thus classifing them differently. And that the seats had to be permant (non-removable) to meet this. It's OEM equipment and part of the vehicle as sold. I call B.S! on this one. What do I know? Glenn, 82 Hatch, has rear seats.....:temper: 01 Forester, wants 3rd row seats.....:madder: In Utah as long as all seatbelts are occupied you can have more people in the vehicle legally.

Subuggy Update!!!!
In defense of frigid females, I have noticed that it dosen't matter, winter or summer, if your on the side of the car that is out of direct sun light your cooler and if your driving and the sun is on your side, it's hotter! I prefer it when my wife is on the sunny side because then she's Hot! :brow: Never mind, Glenn, 82 Hatch with a good heater....:madder: 01 Forester, never used it yet....:cornfuzz:

New body panels.....
This is great! Most of my parts could be pulled off! (the ones that havn't already fallen off) How much would it cost to ship my whole car to them? Maybe I could drive it back when they're finished with it? Glenn, 82 Hatch.... made mainly of rust. 01 Forester, better not rust.:madder:

Keyless Entry 2002 OB
Sweet82 replied to nickb21's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXBeen there done that! Same problem with my 01 Forester that had keyless entry as standard equipment. Or so the brochure said......:madder: I tryed codes, the dealer tryed codes-----No Honks! Now you have tried the codes there are a couple more things you should try. Is your remote the right remote for the year? The dealer can give you the FCC code. Match this to your remote. If it dosen't match there is your problem. Have the dealer run your vin in the computer and see if it really came with keyless as an option? They can be ordered with out. My Forester was aparently ordered with out the module:mad: . Once I found this out, I was able to Ebay a keyless module and Ebay some remotes ($50 for everything). Took me longer to find the box than to install it. (15 minutes) I have a link to box installation instructions somewhere. Good luck, Glenn, 82 Hatch, transforming........ :temper: 01 Forester, Ebay keyless, Ebay remotes, Ebay Wood Dash, Ebay Fender Flares:D

Subuggy Update!!!!
Archemitis, Pep Boys tires(couldn't find anymore OEM Bridgestones:mad: ). They are the most agressive M+S all season I could find. I'll run these and some 26X12X12 ATV tires depending on terrain. McBrat, don't do weed!!! My Subaru Heater is GREAT (other than it sticks on Hot). This heater will give me heat within 2 blocks!:madder: Trooper will compete but takes 4 blocks! My Camry won't produce heat. I love my Subaru Heater! (maybe I just got a good one)? Mike, Tubing is 1 1/2 tubing round and square there is some DOM where rocks are going to hit. The rig is not big! I can lift the back(now). The wheel base is around 80". The pictures don't show it but it's way shorter than the Hatch was. It's basicly a 4 seater 87 Hp ATV. : It got an aluminum floor last night,......tonight side panels! Thanks all, Glenn, 82 Hatch, transforming....now more done'er:temper: 01 Forester, still jealous.......:madder:

Subuggy Update!!!!
WARNING!!! This vehicle will contribute to Global Warming! Subaru heaters rock! I'm thinking if I keep it on "the Extra Crispy setting", I should be able to keep a little warmer in the winter months.:madder: I'm going to install some aluminum tonight:D If things go well it will be in Moab on Hells Revenge (4+ trail) in three weeks. I have access to recreational property the rest of the time.

Subuggy Update!!!!
The Subuggy now features; A heater! A gravity mounted instrument panel! A steering wheel that actually turns the wheels! A chassis that is supported by wheels (not jacks)! 18" up A gas tank half supported! For What it's Worth, Glenn, 82 Hatch (well it used to be) Subuggy now more done'er:temper: 01 Forester, wants a make over too....:madder:

Fabbing a heater
Someone out there has to have a good heater core! That would be my first choice. As for a gen2 to gen1 swap, judging by what you have done already, I'd guess your capable of making it fit! My gen2 is going in (with a fight) a custom frame with no duct work (not gen2 to gen1) so it was kinda easy? I can get you dimensions and a picture of the gen2 heater if that would help. Then tell me where your areas of concern are and I'll get that specific measurment too? Let me know, Glenn, 82 Hatch, almost completed transformation.....:temper: 01 Forester, still has an attitude.......:madder: I'll post another Subuggy update.

Window/Door glass
When I turn my heater on high it blows the glass away from my seal and I hear wind noise:madder: I just run my heater on 3 instead of 4 so it dosen't blow out the seal. I have taken to holding my window if I close the door if the window is not up. Your not alone, Glenn, 82 Hatch, no doors or window anymore....:temper: 01 Forester, better not start doing this.....:madder:

Speedo cable ??

Fabbing a heater
There is a bunch of plastic that can be "Modified" to make things fit better on a Gen 2 heater. I removed mine last night and with some Modifications (angle grinder:brow: ). I now have a heater in the Subuggy! I don't think you would have much of a problem putting one in if you don't mind removing certain plastic parts (with a grinder of course!:brolleye:) Glenn, 82 Hatch, transforming and now with a heater.... :temper: 01 Forester, jealous.....as usual...:madder:

Clacking Engine
My car has always made that "clacking sound". I have replaced my oil pump and it didn't change anything. I have asked the dealer about it too. Everyone seems to say it's a normal noise? So if I use 20w 50 it should quiet down? What about running 20w 50 in the winter? Glenn, 82 Hatch, transforming.......:temper: 01 Forester, jealous........... :madder:

Galvanized Sub?
I have an 01 Forester. While puttering underneath, I noticed it was not undercoated. I'm wondering if my body panels/undercarrage are galvanized? :cornfuzz: I'm wondering if I need to undercoat the thing or if it should hold up to the Salt in Salt Lake City! Anyone read a brochure or have any info on this? Thanks, Glenn, 82 Hatch, transforming........:temper: 01 Forester, jealous............:madder:

Manfacturing date Q
I don't feel so good...... Check the 10th digit of your vin! Starting in 1980 the 10th digit was an "A" and moves up the Alphabet each year. Your 87 should have an "H" in the 10th spot unless of course it's really an 86 in which case it would be a "G". I feel a little better now.........:-\ Glenn, 82 Hatch, transforming........:temper: 01 Forester, jealous.............:madder:
