right, but if you pull the tops out, are the holes that the brackets go into sealed?

I'm guessing yours is just due to the sheer volume we had in the short amount of time... assuming you had your topper off, and you were parked so that the rain could hit your rear window, the rain was driving forcefully enough to keep the bottom window channels full and splash it to the inside.... the seal around the sliders isn't really that great.... or if there is a drain, maybe yours is the same

for drainage of any water that seeps in through the "hinge" bracket holes. I have an additional problem of my windshield gasket broke, so it's not a complete loop. the opening is sealed up again, but not sure if the gasket being "loose" is enough of a problem to get the dowsing I get when it rains.... the water is dripping from the top window area, onto my steering wheel and seat... so either the window gasket being "loose" is the issue, or there's a plugged drain from the roof....

isn't there a drain? if so, where does it run?

I have the correct metric tap, made into a bottoming tap, so you can eke out as many threads as possible from the hole... otherwise, you may want to go with the SAE tap that works for the hole size you have, and get some new studs.....

hmmm.. stripped out the threads in the heads, so now you have to tap them larger, or heli-coil them....

so nice to be able to spread out the vehicles!

Good to know, though I may not have the width to do it because of the new frame section for the steering..... well, it all depends on how big a tire you want to run... the rear of my front wheel wells was already bashed back 4" or so when I put 30's on it with the soob running gear, and in order to fit the 35's with a low CG, the front axle was moved forward about 5" probably.... which put the trackbar and draglink for the crossover steering, right under the middle of the oil pan.... which made it a bit uglier to clearance the oil pan, so it's just bumpstopped an extra inch on the right side... It only hit the oil pan at while turning right, at full stuff. My rear axle is moved back a few inches as well, so I could keep the side step, and end up with a 105" wheel base. move the front axle forward anymore, and it might start to look a bit odd.... Since my built engine only has about 6k on it, I'm gonna SPFI it... I've got all the parts.... maybe a winter project.....

you'll have to lift it a bit higher to have your steering clear the oil pan. the EJ22 is a couple inches lower than an ea81... my trackbar just clears my ea81 oil pan, and I had to bumpstop the right side an extra inch... and that's with stock steering. no way to do high steer and keep a low CG....

That why my 82 looks like it does now But I think putting a whole Impreza or Legacy drivetrain under an EA vehicle would be good. develop it as a marketable lift kit....

No, garage isn't heated, but is finished and has a ceiling (thought it may be coming down to utilize some wasted storage space ) need somewhere to put my spare hoods, fenders, and tailgate... I have 2 heaters. 1 convection, the other a blower type. I probably will sell the blower type one. it runs on propane..... most of my tools are put away now, and I mounted the metal yellow cabinet I had above the tool chest.... still have lots of parts to organize... the new shelving units I got don't have adjustable shelves, so some of the tubs I used for parts need to be replaced with slightly shorter ones....

now you're at the weakpoint I was last at with my '82.... on a stock brat, they will last a long time, but if you wheel hard, they won't last long.... you could try adapting a different strut maybe. there's not a good way to weld it up, as that's the strut pivot point when you turn.... I know there's been some that have retrofit gen1 front struts in, but I don't know that they are any different in that area....
