  2. its only 2-3 mpg differnce between the two. ld love to see a real time code reader on both of them and take side by side data points, including GPH rates and MAP senor readings. Do they both have the same tire brand? nipper
  3. i dont rember ill try to hunt it down. i dont hink he did either. i would suggest either buying the scangauge from ebay, or install a vacume gauge and drive by keeping the needle as high as possible. nipper

  5. Yes. The front o2 snesor seems to wear out quicker then the 2nd, since the first is exposed to unprocessed fumes. nipper
  6. The o2 sensors from the aftermarket may not be as relaible or reactive as OE. If you have two sensors, the first should be OE, the 2nd can be anyones. The first talks directly to the computer and controlls emissions, the 2nd just measures that cat's output. nipper

  8. an oil change can help too. Plus there are fuel additives that will help you get through the teste depneding on how much you failed by. If its a narrow failure, they can get you through, its a massive failure, you got find out what was wrong. A complete tuneup is PCV valve Air cleaner Wires Plugs and if it hasnt been done an o2 sensor (if the car has over 100,000 miles on it and a failed inspection). You really need the numbers so we can tell you where to look best nipper
  9. get yourself a haynes manual for the car, but the #1 reason for failuire is a bad o2 sensor. Without a fubnctioning o2 sensor the rest of the pollution controls are just there for decoration. nipper

  11. You see then that makes the entire test moot. To be valid you change only one thing. On an I head anything helps it is so ineffecient. Also (yes im a stickler) you needed several runs of the unmodified engines, at least three, then three of the modified engine (though i think five is the standard i dont remember) to certify the improvements as valid. nipper

  15. If you need a ccessory druve belts, just take them off, start the car, then shut off the car, and install new ones. See if the noise changes.

Not that i would ever say anything to er um, cheat the system but .... a AAA driver told me once when i broke down in PA, to get towed the 100 miles by the first driver, call AAA again and get a second tow, then call them again for a third. This works only when you cross AAA regions or state lines. AAA is not interconnected to other AAA regions/states. Just something to keep in mind, especially when crossing state lines. Being from NY, i've actually traveled that route on a "im running away from it all" trip, and its tough on a car. Some places not to cheap out on, your cooling system and your brakes.   17. Idler seems to be a problem with the older H6, but it seems like they fixed it on the newere ones. Be interesting to see how that pans out. nipper
  18. Easy to replace, but nothing against the previous poster, he is IN texas, and doesnt have to deal with snow, or more of late frozen slush. I would replace it before winter. Global warming may be here, but be a while before NY is florida hehehehe nipper
  19. When was the last time the timing blets were replaced, and was the tensioner replaced or the idler repalced then. Remove the drive belts and start the car, see if the noise is still there. nipper
