Not to mention it is now working as air pump. Mathmatically it is 25%, in reality its probably a bit more. The way some of the engine analyzers work (the huge ones in shops) is that they shut down one cylinder and measure the rpm drop to come up with a compression ratio (along with a few otherparimiters taken while the cylinder is firing) it is extreemly accurate. So mathmatically at 25% it does work. nipper

i remeber back i the 1980's and 1990's where cats were being replaced quite regularly. Back then thy onlyu had to last 60,000 miles. They have come a long way. nipper -

biggest reason for failure is bad gas or running too rich. i think about 10 states now use california emissions, mostly in the northeast. The good thing about it is that its becoming less and comon to replace a cat. -
Everything is wired , man that rear fog light is bright... pics arent the best but http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=917 The driving lights arent diriving lights, but the arent fog lights either. They must be cornering lights, which is even better, otherwise known as midbeams. They through a lot of light off to the sides and almost as far as the high beams. i'm happy. Air horns are hooked up to, but im sort of disapointed as they arent as loud as i wanted. It can be that they are very directional, and there arent many places to mount them properly in the outback. nipper

hehe ok i apolgize most the counter people i run into have no automotive expierience at all and just read the codes as they sit. i heard one say to somone he had 4 codes and needed 4 very expensive sensors. i sort of shook my head as i didnt want to get involved diagnosing, i just told him to get a second opinion. i also applied at a chain as a manager ( i was between jobs) and told i was over qualified (automotive engineering degree, many years pulling wrenches etc). . Oddly i like working retail. And as you said there is high turnover, how is someone off the street supposed to know that the person hes talking to knows what he is talking about? nipper -

Never trust a counter person to tell you what you need. You need to replace the 02 sensor. Its rare that a sooby needs a cat. Also even if it does need one, the 02 sensor still needs to be replaced, so replace the cheapest thing first. The first sensor shold be a sooby sesnor and that communicates with the computer, The second can be generic and that one is for cat performance. Last month i got this code, replaced the front 02 sensor, no more problem (of course it happened 2 days before inspection). Never rely on an autoparts chain store person to diagnose your car. nipper -
do you plan to dirve at 130 mph often? H = 130 mph s = 112 mph. S is fine. Just because the car came out with X tire does not mean that they always need to be the same. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=35 This is probably the second set of tires on the car, and they went with either something that was cheaper, available or both. Also OE tires may be over rated for what is required due to being a marketing tool, or getting a good deal from the tir mfg, or both. There is also some questions about the same make and model the car comes with is the same quality of what you and i buy at a tire store (tire store better). i can sort of see that argumnet, but dont beleive it myself. nipper nipper
