  1. I posted in an older thread. I was interested in a plow setup back in 2015 and life got in the way. Currently working on an E82T swap into a 1985 brat and trying to upgrade to power steering and A/C and looking for 4 things: 1)A/c box section to fit 1985 Brat. I have one from a 1987 GL-10 and it's too big to be modified. Evaporator alone would be OK, I could fabricate a box if needed. 2)Ignition coil assembly for 1987 GL-10 Turbo, bracket has transistor mounted to it and that part is bad as well as a leaking coil 3)Set of wagon wheels to fit 1985 Brat 4)Plow setup if you still have one Thanks, Steve
  2. The way gaskets are designed. If there is a gasket, any style, paper, metal, o-ring no sealant of any kind should be used with that gasket unless specified in the service manual. Sealer of any kind has a specific purpose and is designed to seal without a gasket. The only time I have every considered using sealer with a gasket is if the metal is eroded at the sealing surface and a replacement housing/mounting surface is not available or cost effective.
  3. Both the upstream and downstream sensors should fluctuate. The forward sensor should sweep widely .2-.8V and the rear sensor should cahge just as rapidly but only sweep .35-.65V. Most likely you need a cat. Never has a Subaru with a 420 that was fixed with just o2 sensors. BTW, I am a general manager at a repair facility and we do a lot od Subaru work.
  4. 953110 is a NAPA part number for reference. Not available anywhere in their supply chain. I have a local rebuilder that could definitely rebuild yours. Never found one they could not rebuild. Steve
  5. My listing shows 5/78 production and later all take the same bearing.
  6. Moog does not manufacture shocks and struts so they would be rebranded, most likely Monroe or Gabrielle. Personally I would use KYB on any vehicle, it's the brand we install on customer's vehicles all the time. Be careful there are many different product lines within each manufacturer so be sure you are comparing apples to apples.
  7. All 1978-1987 Brats take the same 200MM disc, pressure plate and throw out bearing. All listings on Daiken(Exidy), Parnut and OE cataloging show 1 part number for each. The Brat uses a 200mm clutch which would normally "only" be in a 2wd car. The 4wd cars use larger diameter clutches. Some one may be looking up a 4wd application, but the Brat does not use a "4wd" clutch. The larger clutch will not fit inside the smaller bell housing used in the Brat.
  8. That was the game plan, head gaskets and TB job complete as well as belts, hoses, tune up stuff. Any idea about distributor clearance issues I keep reading about. Does it hit the master cylinder, lines? How about the clutch and transmission, donor is auto and we want to keep the Brat stick. Will all the stock components bolt up? Upgrade clutch? What parts will fit? Radiator from donor or Brat? Will A/C parts from donor fit Brat? We could upgrade while doing the swap. Any help would be great, I'm sure we can figure it out after the parts are all pulled.
  9. Ok, I've read all the posts and know there might be better choices to transplant, but this is a similar era engine and the price was right, nearly free for the complete car. 90K original miles so we feel it's worth the effort. Please respond with items that need to be addressed in order to make this swap. I'd rather know before we start taking things apart than when we have a pile of parts(or 2). We're not looking for a hot rod so the minimal improvement and fuel injection will make a world of difference in driving especially when warming up. Thanks for all the input. Steve
  10. My son and I have a 85 brat and just acquired an 87dl with complete ea82t drivetrain. Can we swap in the engine with the existing 4spd without any major modifications? What other parts do I need to find? He's not looking to swap in the auto that the donor car has. I know the cross stitch member needs notching for the turbo pipe and the distributor to master clearance issues. We ill be gutting the donor this weekend and want to make sure we grab all the parts we need. My shop does a lot of Subaru work but nothing this old so it's going to be a learning curve. Thanks.
