  1. You mean you guys have 2 point lap belts in the back of your cars??? Havn't been allowed them here for like, 25-30 years!
  2. Most ea81s have solid lifters, because most are pre '85. Since yours is an '85, it has hydraulic lifters (unless its not the original engine).
  3. Is this code there with the engine running?
  4. It just attaches to the trim around the steering column.
  5. Go to a junkyard with your door key, and try locks till you find one worn out enough (300,000kms about does it from my experience) to accept the key.
  6. Hmm, i got them straight from the guys who did machining form me, they do a few ea81s so i thought they would be right, maybe not. I wonder if it will be ok if i just have the tab facing the expander?
  7. Another snag.... Just installing the rings on pistons (i've finally started with the final assembly of the ea81t) and of the two oil control rails, one has a tab bent out at the end. Does this rail go on the top or bottom? Cheers.
  8. Geez, they are serious when they say its slow using the free service, seems to be limited to around 21kB/s. Works sweet, worth the wait!
  9. It wasn't only the turbos, almost all '83 and newer wagons are touring wagons here.
  10. As far as i know, the different ratios were between the auto/manual gearbox. Wasn't aware of any difference in the ea81 manual ones....
  11. Isn't that inclined to suggest that the IC is creating too much of a pressure drop at high rpm? Since power is just the product of torque and rotational speed, if the power stayed the same and torque increased, the revs at which max torque occurs has dropped. Not what you want? You should try a legacy air/water ic..... The difference in the high end (power above 5800) could simply be caused by the engine being more/less worn than others, ie worn/good cams.
  12. Depends on what condition the engine is in - i would stick to a 20w oil in a worn engine, while a 10 or 15w is better if your engine is in good condition (ie low miles).
  13. Also hydraulic if its a '83 or newer automatic.
  14. Being an '83, it wont have a cas, just a magnetic/hall effect pickup.
  15. They make 'em handle better, but without them it'll still handle a heck of a lot better than, say, a 40 series landcruiser! None of them have any swaybars at all.
  16. The heads wont change the compression ratio.
  17. Don't you hate that? They probably knew it had probs when they sold it too.
  18. Yep, thats right on the high idle speed for the new cams. I was told at least 2000rpm for the first 15 mins or so by the guys who did my cam.
  19. Those rods are for the solid lifters. So you should be able to adjust them using the normal method with feeler gauges. Interestingly enough, that means your engine is pre-'85.
