  1. it should be fine.... one oz in 9 qrts is a small amount really.... hell it might shift smoother
  2. http://www.redlineweber.com/carb-kits/auto/subaru/ Redline will have the carb rebuild kits. I have a 38/38 webber syncro on my 86 GL adn love it. u might want to get the 38/38 as it alows much more air for low end power. my fuel milage stayed the same as the stock Hitachi Carb but is soooo much better.
  3. What I did, was went to NAPA and got the two largest toggle switches, and the largest spring push button. I mouted then up under the left of the sterring wheel where that little "tray" is to put things. one switch runs the ignition, the other the accessorys, the push button starts the engine. I wasn't gunna pay the money for a new one. I love it. if some one does steel it it will take some time for them to figure it out. I do have the key so can lock the doors. hope that helps
  4. I removed 2 of the opposing wheel studs on my 86 GL wagon. then place a Toyota 6stud wheel on the brake drum and u will see the other 4 holes. mark the centers and drill them out. I put in 4 new studs on each wheel position and now my world of wheels and tires opened up. I went with a 15 in wheel because there are a lot more wheel choices out there. you wont be sorry. it didn't take very long. my friend has an automotive machine shop so he had the tools to find the true center of each new stud hole. the studs drive in with a hammer easiely. not need for a press.
  5. my only caution on the bolt u used is this: Is the nut a locking nut, such as the nylon bushing in side it so it cannot back off, or did u use lock-tite? Should the steering come apart it would be a disaster. In aviation mechanics most nuts are safety wired. just a thought.
  6. you might contact SJR and ask him. the other man in the know, is Anderson Design and Fabrication, in Sandy Oregon The build ADF lifts for all the the older and newer Subies out there. https://andersondesign-fab.com/ I'm just finishing my 86 GL with a combination, used SJR 4in, and ADFs 4in lift kit. please let us know what u find. Id like to know
  7. I'm adding a 4in lift kit to my 86 Gl and the body mount bushings from the rear suspension really do need replacing. I did replace with polyethylene the main suspension bushings, but cannot get the body mount bushings. My worst ones are the Mustashe bar round ones. then the next ones forward. Are there more recient model year Subarus where the bushings are interchangeable? any help would be great.
  8. Pbilt, here is the instructions from ADF for their strut lift 2in the rear. this should help https://www.facebook.com/groups/1842823739329756/?fb_dtsg_ag=Adx8WVlg-tuY-ANhM1_8zDhqbuvBwXpcMmV2QlcKwJcgkg%3AAdyOqek8N-YAWhCJzRVtdzj91vx0qaLcDpruYGsvNuPz5w This is current as i just looked at it for you.... let us know how it goes for you please.
  9. i am currently installing a 4 in body lift by Anderson Design and Fabrication in Sandy Oregon. They can make you a 2in also for the rear. contact them at https://andersondesign-fab.com/ they are really good to work with. Contact Patrick or Braden. If u do not find what u are looking for on their website they have other ways to contact them. I find them the best at customer support. they have a fun FB page too. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1842823739329756/?fb_dtsg_ag=Adx8WVlg-tuY-ANhM1_8zDhqbuvBwXpcMmV2QlcKwJcgkg%3AAdyOqek8N-YAWhCJzRVtdzj91vx0qaLcDpruYGsvNuPz5w I have an 86 GL wagon and love it. the kit is really easy.
  10. i installed a 38/38 syncro Webber on my 86 GL EA-82 after deleting the Hitachi. i put a small vent filter on the return line and left it cut off near the fire wall. my car runs fine. i love my 38/38 cuz both barrels open at the same time. lots of low end performance. and its needed cuz i have the automatic trans. then did a high performance CAT back exhaust and now am completing a top end overhaul as i warped heads and lost a head gasket, so I had Delta Cam or Tacoma Wa. make me a Stage 1 grind on my cams, AND they ground my cam followers too as u cannot get new ones. it will run again very soon. im so looking forward to the RV cam and how it will perform. with it being an every day driver an the high gear of the automatic they thought the Stage 1 grind would be best for me and i agree as i wont be up at/or above 4500 RPMs very often where the stage 2 and 3 cams go better.
  11. I took my EA-82 covers off and im running open belt system. easy to change when needed. consider that.
  12. id contact RedLine and send them your picture. maybe have them rebuild it, or pay for your rebuild.
  13. my 86 EA-82 GL wagon has the CAT just behind The Y pipe. its short and fat. if you have one that is most likely where it will be. No sensors or wires. if you have it do the check Dave T suggested and if you drive it the CAT will be really hot, so be careful not have a fire.

  15. im on the ADF Anderson Design and Fabrication FB group. They specialize int Subaru Lift kits, and they enthusiactly recomment Cardone Axles. i have them on my 86 GL and im happy with them KYBs are good too.
  16. in looking at your pics it appears to be the correct one. mine has a small riller opening on it. but it looks the same as mine.
  17. Hi there, i have an 86 GL wagon with the 3AT and my radiator has an internal transmission cooler built in. you should make sure to get the radiator that has the tranny cooler. The connections are on the driver's side of the radiator. there is a brass screw in fitting that has a factor bend to help the hoses that come off the tranny to connect in a good direction. if u have your old radiaror still u can take that one off. That's what i did. best of luck
  18. ok so my advice above didnt pan out as i looked deeper into it. I did find KYB front struts at Auto Warehouse here is the link. they Gaberial too, but dbl the cost check this out. scroll down to the 2nd choice and u will find the KYBs. https://www.autopartswarehouse.com/shop_parts/shock_absorber_and_strut_assembly/subaru/dl.html
  19. check these Gaberial Front STruts out. i hope they are the correct part for you. scroll down to the 3d choice. kinda expencive but.... https://www.autopartswarehouse.com/shop_parts/shock_absorber_and_strut_assembly/subaru/dl.html
  20. i got new struts all the way around for my 86 GL wagon straight from KYB. take a look here and see if this is helpful for you. https://www.kyb.com/knowledge-center/shock-tech-for-pros/dimensions/ let me know what u find please.... this page is not correct so please look at the next post by me.
  21. I have a 86 GL wagon with the EA-82. i have a Weber 38-38 syncro carb and get stuttering and "fuel starvation when making Left hand hard turn that require a few pumps of the pedal to keep fuel to the venturi and running smoother. You may want to check your fuel filter back by the tank. i had an issue where the car would be fine on the flats but when i got to the hills i had just no power and was down to like 40 mph with cars and truck passing me. the filter change made the difference. my carburator is installed backwars cuz i have the AC unit still on the car so the Left turn starves the float bowl with enough fuel while in the turn. I Hope this helps some.
  22. I have 35K miles with my Webber 38/38 syncro barb and it has tons of low end. the mpg are about the same but the perfromance is way better. My HG failed cuz my radiator went bad and i ran it out of water. totally my fault. im looking forward to runnin this new top end a long time. when its in and running ill put it on a dyno and let the forum know.... i like my big carb. Redline was really helpful in assisting me in jetting it properly. Ask for Tom
  23. Oh i also went open belt, re-did all the timing pullys and bushings, front main seal along with oil pump new water pump too. converted radiator to all electric fan, no more manual cooling fan.
